Giving Your Neopets Personalities by squieshie | |
NEOPIA CENTRAL - When writing a short story, a series, a comic, or just whenever,
your pets need to have personalities. If you write a sentence like: The Gelert
went to the mall. The Gelert had lunch there., The Gelert doesn't have any
personality. Maybe, of course, the Gelert could have a piggish type of personality,
considering since he ate lunch at the mall. But maybe not. When writing a story,
your characters need to have personalities, unless you want your story to be
boring, and unimaginative. You could change the sentence I used earlier, just
a tad bit, and it could be much better. The Gelert could have a personality.
Your sentence would be alive. If you changed the sentence I sued up there to
this: The girl Gelert, Cindy, went to the mall. Cindy had a small lunch there.
Now, that sounds a little better, doesn't it? But it still isn't fully developed.
Lets try this: The girl Gelert, Cindy, went to the mall, in her best dress.
She had a small lunch at the mall. She tried many different types of foods,
but she thought that the pizza was gross. That adds a little MORE flavour
to the sentence. It's beginning to come alive.
Choosing a Personality for your pet
Look at your Neopet. What kind of Neopet is it? An Acara? A Zafara? A Moehog?
A Skeith? Find a personality that suits your pet well. If your pet's name is
'Polite_young_lady', then go ahead and make her a polite young lady! Or, you
could do just the opposite. You could make her an ill-mannered lady. You decide.
Another example, is, lets say you are trying to find the perfect personality
for your brand new Pteri. You could make its personality mischievous, tricky,
and sometimes rude, like the Pteri pop-up animation says. But millions of Pteri's
probably have a personality have that. So why not make your Pteri just the opposite?
Your Pteri could be nice, shy, and friendly. That would make your Neopet stand
out more, and give it more flavour. Or, for instance, you had just gotten a
brand new Skeith and don't know what to make its personality like? Well, you
could make it lazy, mean, grouchy, etc., etc., or you could make it just the
opposite. You could make her/him extremely nice, hyper, and you could even make
him or her like to work out a lot, to loose all of that extra weight all of
the Skeiths in Neopia have somehow gained. Or, you could write a story about
your Skeith, the only Skeith that was born skinny! Who knows what creative ideas
you can think up ;)
Likes, Dislikes, etc., etc.,
Another thing that develops your pets personality, well, is its like, and dislikes.
In a sentence, you could write: Gabby the Grarrl loved to eat asparagus,
but hated to eat other kinds of vegetables. That is what makes your Neopet
unique in its own special way. Giving your pets petpets also develops your pet's
personality, a little, too! Say you thought a Buzzer would be a perfect petpet
for your Krawk, but it turns out he doesn't like Buzzers; he can't stand them.
But he likes Donksuars. Try to experiment with different possibilities, and
different items to see what your pet likes, and dislikes.
Brainstorm!
What kind of personalities can you come up with? Be creative, and use that moldy
pink thing in your head to think of ideas. Maybe you can brainstorm some ideas
on a piece of paper, and come up with the ultimate personality for your pet,
eh?
This is something I came up with for my friend's Cybunny.
- Shy <- Definitely!
- Nice <- That will do!
- A little nosey <- Yeah.
- Demure <- That's my friends Cybunny, all right!
I came up with this solution, because I roleplay with my friend a lot, and
this is how she makes her Cybunny, Bony_34 act. I think it is a superb personality
for this young Cybunny. It suits her just great!
Well, I hope this guide has hopefully helped you decide on your pets personalities.
What? My pets, you ask? Well, one of my pets is kind of unintelligent, he always
bumps into walls when he flies up in the air. Another one is hyper, and funny,
another one of my pets is a good problem solver, battler, and smart, and my
youngest pet is naive, and cute.
