Ways of Advertising

1.Your Shop!

Yes, never thought your own shop could be a form of advertisements? Now you know!

Ratings:

Cost: 5/5
Yes, It's totally free!
Time: 3/5
It would take some time for people to visit your shop, unless you sell really hot items that are sold fast!
Effectiveness: 2/5
Most buyers probably wouldn't take too much time to look at your shop, just buy your stuff and go!

Comments: It is quite worth the money, but Neopians are probably going to ignore the advertisements anyway *UNLESS* your advertisement is eye catching, like in the form of a picture (Your picture must load fast, or buyers will just miss it anyway)

2.Your User Lookup

Yes, user lookups can be used to advertise, for your shops for trades or such, too!

Ratings:
Cost: 4/5
Though this is also free, but the chances of Neopians looking at your User Lookup are actually quite slim, unless you have won some contests or gallery or such, so I would give it a 4.
Time: 1/5
It would take almost forever for an average Neopian to stumble into your User lookup, and what are the chances he/she's going to look at your advertisements?
Effectiveness: 1/5
Of Course, Advertising can also spoil your otherwise beautiful User Lookup, won't it?

Comments: Neopians aged 12 and below cannot use this feature without parental permission!

3. Your Guild

On the assumption that you have quite an active guild and guild members look at your posts, yeah, it IS a good way!

Sure, it's free too!
Time: 3/5
It takes time for guild members to stumble into your advertisements, doesn't it? No member is on 24/7 (I guess)
Effectiveness: 4/5
The highest so far, Guild members are generally more supportive and would probably take a look even if they were not buying. So, if you have a guild that is nice and active, you sure can advertise there!

Comments: Please take note, however, many guilds have this rule that spamming is not allowed, and if you see this, it means you are not allowed to advertise! If you do so you may face severe measures, like suspension or such, or maybe a warning.

4. NeoChat

There are chat boards for this purposes too, the shop board, trades board or such. You can advertise there, and Neopians who see it *might* visit your shop.

Neopians who are on the Chat board see it instantly. Great!
Effectiveness: 3/5
It is not THAT effective as Neopians who see it might not necessarily visit it. You could draw them there (to your shop for instance) by saying there's a great sale, with items at below shop wizard price for example, and more then usual, people would take a look! DO NOT, however, say things like "Items in my shop priced at 10 NP" for it is most probably trash and Neopians smart enough wouldn't take a look!

Comments: Neopians below the age of 12 without parental permission cannot use this feature too! If you're advertising your guild, you could ask more guild members to advertise at the same time. Trust me, it IS more effective that way ;)

5. The Notice Board

This is the one place Neopets allocated to us for our advertising purposes, so why not use it well?

Ratings:

Cost: 1/5
Why? Because if you do not spend enough money, you do not get the attention! You will need to spend from 300,000 Neopoints to about 3 Million Neopoints to get your advertisement on the Front Page!
Time: 4/5
As it is the one place allocated for advertising purposes, Neopians tend to look at it most often, especially newbies who have just started!
Effectiveness: 3/5
It might be pretty effective, but I'm bringing it down due to the cost. You would probably have to spend more than you profit!

Comments: If you are planning to use the notice board, and since you're making that big effort and spending the big Neopoints, do make a picture catchy enough, so that Neopians WOULD see it, and some image servers, like Geocities, do not let you host your pictures on Neopets, so be REAL careful! And since you're already spending so much, you might as well advertise a few things at one time, like you guild, your shop and your trade or auction!

6. The Mystery Island Trading Post

As they say, the best is for the last, and by far I find this method the best!

Cost: 5/5
You don't have to spend for this, that's why!
Time: 5/5
Neopians who are constantly on the lookout for good trades would definitely see your trade.
Effectiveness: 5/5
If you post it frequently enough, it IS quite effective. Many of the people who see my advertisements see it through the trading post! So do try it out!

Comments: Need I say more? I guess not. For me, this has, by far, been the most effective method!

Shields Just Don't Block It There are dozens of shields in Neopia, but some are simply better than others. Like the Dung Shield for instance. That rocks! So does the Water Jelly Shield. Yup, nothing is worse than a basic defending tool. by too_kule
