Peachpaw's Hill...
LUPE FOREST WAS beautiful on that fine summer morning.
The birds were singing. The wind was blowing gently through the tall evergreens.
And Peacepaw's guitar strings had been cut by an anonymous attacker, freeing
the forest from the awful sound of his singing. Everything was so peaceful and
serene that one Lupe decided to leave her tiny cot. She yawned, stretching out
her long, skinny arms and daintily unfolding her rainbow-coloured wings. Her
fur was completely pink, except for the tip of her tail, which was baby blue,
and her hair, which was purple, and went down to her waist. She held up a Lupe
wand into the air as her deep, lazy blue eyes stared out over her territory,
scanning every blade of grass.
"Hm... nothing interesting..."
With a disdainful yawn, she crept back into
her tiny cot, grabbing a bottle of neocola and gently sipping it down. She sat
down on her tiger-striped couch and picked up a Faerie Book, preparing for a
nice, peaceful morning of reading.
Suddenly, there was a knock on her door. Peachpaw
the Faerie Lupess groaned, grabbing her Lupe wand from off her classy coffee
table and gliding to the door (quiet literally glided, since she WAS a faerie
Lupess).
"HM" Her wand began to glow as she threw the
door open. "Who is it?"
Standing outside was a small blue Chia. He was
wearing a white lab coat with a single pencil bulging from his front pocket,
although many hidden pockets within his coat held other interesting items. He
also had red sneakers and a pair of round, owlish glasses. Currently, a pen
and a notepad were pulled from those pockets, and a handy miniature tape recorder
was hidden in the other, catching every single sound. He stared up at the rather
tall Lupess, smiling widely.
"Good morning, Mam! I'm Alexander T. Chia, the
resident Lupologist of Furgleton City! Perhaps you have heard of me from the
other Lupes? I heard that a Faerie Lupess lived up this hill, and since I've
never studied faerie Lupesses, I was wondering if..."
Peachpaw held up her free paw, silencing Al
in midsentence. Al took notice of her behaviour, pushing his glasses up onto
his face and scribbling furiously into his notepad.
"So, I was just wondering if I could ask a few
questions and take a few tests..."
Peachpaw scowled. "Listen here, you weird little
egg with a tuft of hair! I am not just a stupid animal to be studied! I am a
living creature!"
Al blinked. "Erm... I wasn't going to dissect
you or anything, I just want a hair sample..."
Peachpaw's eyes began to glow red as she raised
the Lupe wand into the air. A gust of wind nearly blew Al over as she bared
her white teeth.
"YOU WANT TO MESS WITH MY HAIR?!?!!?"
"No, wait, I just wanted..."
Peachpaw pointed the wand at Al, her beautiful
face suddenly horrendously ugly.
"YOU SHALL PERISH!!" She declared, in a deep,
unearthly voice, her wand glowing a rather lovely shade of beige. "I LAY A CURSE
UPON YOU, A CURSE THAT WILL AFFECT THE THING YOU LOVE MOST IN THE WORLD!"
Before Al could gasp, scream, or ask for a hair
sample again, the Lupe Wand sent an icy bolt of power slamming into his stomach.
He jettisoned into the air with a yelp, span around three times, and landed
on the ground with an earthshaking slam.
A beige shockwave not unlike the colour from
Peachpaw's wand shot forth from his impact, spreading around the world like
wildfire and touching every single pet in Neopia. Suddenly, all the Lupes in
Neopia began to flicker and fade away (except for Peachpaw, of course). King
Coltzan, Balthazar, the Ghost Lupe, the NeoQuest Hero, all of Lupe Forest, and
every other Lupe that ever existed were sucked away in that beige shockwave,
sealed somewhere where they would never be found or seen. The entire universe
began to warp and twist as every Lupe in history melted into the beige onslaught.
Things appeared, things were gone, and most everything was screwed up, until,
with a final, rose-colored flash, it stopped.
Peachpaw took in a deep breath, and after counting
to ten, her eyes returned to their normal colour, and her face to it's normal
beauty. With a Beauty Contest Winning smile, she calmly picked up his notebook,
shredded it into pieces, fixed her hair, and gave the Lupologist a harsh kick
in the stomach. Since they were on top of the hill, it only took that kick to
start Al's painful, bumpy journey into the altered universe. Rolling like a
block of cheese, he zoomed down the hill until hitting a large evergreen, abruptly
ending the his interview with Peachpaw...
(crossed out)Lupe Forest(not crossed out)Chiopolis...
Al's eyes slowly opened. He felt a large bump
on his head, and noted that his glasses had shattered. Confused, Al sat up.
He rubbed his head as he reached into his pocket, pulling out a spare set of
frames and setting them onto his face.
"What an unusual encounter... I have to be more
careful next time..."
With a grunt, he pulled himself onto his feet,
leaning against the tree and brushing dirt off his lab coat.
"That was weird... I wonder what she meant by
the thing I love most?"
Al leaned his head against the tree as he pondered
this, but instead of the warm bark of a evergreen tree in the summer, he felt
cold, hard metal of a iron pole in the winter. Although the coolness soothed
the bump on Al's head, it also gave him a jolt that caused him to completely
wake up.
"What?"
He whirled around, his eyes wide with amazement.
The place where an evergreen once grew was now home to a rather large electrical
post. Al gasped.
"But... wasn't this a tree a second ago? How
hard DID I hit my head?"
He slowly turned around, taking in the scenery
around him. Something didn't seem right. No birds were chirping and the wind
wasn't blowing. The sky was dark, ugly crimson, with angry storm clouds. And
instead of the serene scenery of a beautiful forest, a grungy city met his nearsighted
eyeballs.
Al began to walk forward, careful of each step,
his mouth hanging open and his eyes bulging as he made his way down the ugly
street. It was barren and empty, and only the occasional muffled scream.
"That's odd... I thought I left my lunch right
here... someone must have stole it!"
