The Spooky Conspiracy: Brain Tree and the Esophagor

by superstake1

HAUNTED WOODS - Explore the World of Neopia and visit the Haunted Woods... the land of evil. Don't be scared. There are a lot of interesting and mystics places to venture. I have been doing some research on two mysterious places there; the Brain Tree and the Esophagor. After observing and asking a few people around Haunted Woods, I found out a really disturbing fact that I called The Spooky Conspiracy.

The search begins a long time ago. I love doing quests. I wander around Neopia doing different type of quests such as the Kitchen quest, Snow Faerie quest and of course the Brain Tree quest.

Claimed to be the only tree to have developed intelligence, the Brain Tree will always thirst for knowledge.

His quest is simple. He will ask you to find the answers for two questions; where and when a particular person died in Neopia... for a limited amount of time. Although the time is limited, it is more than enough to solve the mystery. As I mentioned earlier, his quest is simple. You can get those answers by doing the Esophagor quest. Let me rephrase that; you can ONLY get those answers by doing the Esophagor quest... something fishy here!!!

The Esophagor lives in the ground under the Haunted Woods. It is known to everyone that he is always hungry. He will rise out from his hideout and ask someone to help find him food. As a reward, he will give you the answer to one of the Brain Tree quest (if you are doing the quest). You have to do the Esophagor quest twice to get your answers to the Brain Tree quest.

One with a big brain and one with a big stomach. What are these two guys up too?

So, I decided to investigate. I accepted a few quest from the Brain Tree and went to the Esophagor for answers. Sometimes he only wants one food item but sometimes it can go up to FOUR food items. I was asked to buy a few food items ranging from a cheap doughnut to the expensive rare food like Gummi Worms.

After giving those foods to him, he revealed all the answers needed for the Brain Tree quest. I went back to the tree and gave all the answers. The tree rewarded me with a small amount of Neopoints and a rare item... The best was Attack Fork. I never get anything better than that.

Sometimes I have to spend about 30,000 NP to feed the Esophagor and in return I get back less than half what I had spent.

Then I started asking some people nearby. First I went to meet Edna the witch. It was very hard to get her. She will only be around only during witching hour, from 12 midnight to 1 am. I managed to catch up with her one night and asked her about the Brain Tree and the Esophagor.

At first she didn't want to tell me anything. But after I helped her to find some ingredients for her weird spell, she started talking. She told me that the Brain Tree and the Esophagor used to be her friends... but not anymore.

"Why is that?" I asked.

"You can't trust a big brain and a slimy guy!" she said in an angry tone.

I don't dare to ask any further. I left her place after thanking her for the little information.

After a few days, I went back to the Haunted Woods and met the Mummy.... he sure looks ancient! I managed to speak to him and asked him about those two suspicious creature. The first thing he said was "Finally someone ask about these two guys".

"What do you mean by that?" I said.

"I have been around here for ages.... been walking around these woods, looking and trying to understand its weirdness. One thing that still puzzling me is those two guys", he pointed his finger to the Brain Tree and the Esophagor.

"If you have a big brain, why do you need to ask others for information? Look at the slimy guy there... where are all those foods going to go?" he asked me.

I shrugged my head because were my unanswered question. Things are really weird here.

How can he eats so much? Why he asked for those expensive food? Why the only way to get answers to the Brain Tree quest is to feed the guy under the ground? Where the tree gets the Neopoints to buy the items?

Spooky isn't it. I have a strong feeling that these two guys are working together as a business partner. Check it out yourself... and find out about the Spooky Conspiracy.
