PET CENTRAL - I'm sure that you're all familiar with this. You draw a picture
of your pet, enter it, and if the picture was good enough, you got a lot of
votes. I wish it was still like that. But now, I have to ask myself this question:
Is it the Beauty or Advertising Contest?
Now, a copy and paste picture could win first overall! It's because there
are few people left that care about the art, it's all about advertising now.
You see chat boards covered with stupid, pathetic "VOTE FOR MY PET!!!!"s. I
can understand why the staff blocked links.
Back when I first got on Neopets, you rarely saw a copy and paste picture.
And if you did, it wasn't very high in votes. Back when I first started, there
was GOOD art. Art with a little something that to most people who enter the
beauty contest with stolen pictures and copy and pastes pictures have never
heard of, something called EFFORT.
Only the seriously good art, no, make that excellent and superior art, keeps
the copy and paste pictures from winning an overall spot. And it has to be really
good. You could work on a picture a lot, spend at least an hour on it, enter
it in the Beauty Contest, and get beaten by a copy and paste picture that says
something "cute" like "I love you… please vote for me?"
Let's face it. The Beauty Contest isn't what it's meant to be anymore. The
Neopets team really should rename it "The Advertising Contest" because that
is what most of it is now. Or BAN any kind of copy and paste pictures, even
if they were edited.
Now, people are too lazy to draw a half-decent picture, but apparently they
AREN'T too lazy to advertise the entire week. I still have absolutely no idea
how that works. It's really sad and pathetic, to see something that used to
be so great, to go to something horrible.
So, a little note for all copy and pasters: WHY exactly are you doing this?
How can you be so lazy to do something that requires less effort than trying
to get people to listen to you? Because, it is a lot harder to get people to
listen to your pathetic "VOTE FOR MY PET!!!!!!!!!!!!"s than it is to draw a
decent picture. You people are so pathetic. I hope you get turned into a giant
ice cube. Or maybe I'll come steal your hands. Then you won't be able to type,
let alone draw. Not that you bothered to in the first place.
And then, about art thieves… they're even worse. Now THEY should really get
turned into a giant ice cube. They just go, and steal someone else's hard work.
At least the copy and pasters don't steal any art. Because art thieves are just
the worst. They are even lazier than the copy and pasters, because they don't
even have to advertise. "Their" picture is so good.
Some people are just pathetic, and they are looking for an easy way to get
Neopoints. All I have to say to that is… WHO CARES? It's a virtual site, they
don't really exist. If you want them, try a little something called WORK. Or
maybe that little four-letter word is too complex for some people.
So quit pushing away the real art. And if you're an art thief, stop it. The
only reason is probably to give people the idea that you are a great drawer,
and to get some Neopoints. And Guess what? As soon as you get frozen, that recognition
is gone, along with those stupid virtual coins, and you have to start from scratch.
And then you'll get frozen on that account, and so on.
Then there are people who use bribes. That can also get you turned into a
giant ice cube (if you haven't noticed, I like that phrase for frozen). It's
stupid. And then, when you DON'T win, if you managed not to become a giant ice
cube, you just wasted all of that stuff and Neopoints (which you want so badly)
and you end up with less. Ooh… smart.
But that's getting away from the point of this article. The point is that
the Beauty Contest is no longer about beauty, but about advertising. Hooray.
Let's go see who is in the lead for the Advertising Contest. Because that is
what it is now.
