Turmaculus - Is He Worth Your Time?

by dum_dee_do

MERIDELL - The king of all Petpets... the giant colossal Petpet (the one with the BIG appetite). Whatever you want to call him he's Turmaculus. Some say the chances of waking him is 1 to 100. Some say it's all random, while others even say it's impossible. Whatever you say, I'm here today to explain some points that will make things clearer for you. And maybe in the end I might help you answer this question: Turmaculus- is he worth your time?

This legendary beast is said to have an enormous appetite... "As he ate, he grew, and as he grew, he ate... until one day this colossal Petpet could not move any more." Now this giant creature sleeps night and day. If you're lucky enough to wake him, he'll heal you pet, raise your Petpet's level and give you other rare and priceless items. (Although in other people's opinion, 'pieces of trash')

Theories:
I have been into many, many message boards and chats of people explaining their theory of waking this oversized Petpet.

Here is a list of some theories: (all the theories yet to be proven right or wrong)

  • Using nicer ways of waking him will avoid your Petpet being eaten. Many people have avoided commands like "Kick him", "Bang Pots and Pans" altogether. In my experience, this theory is not right. I have woken him up by using the command "Hit him with stick" and I don't think hitting anyone with a stick is considered nice aye? Hehe....

  • Turmaculus only can wake up at a certain hour of the day. It's a very logical explanation to things. One of my friends told her sister about being successful in awakening the giant Petpet, her sister immediately went to him hoping she would do the same, and sure enough she awoke Turmaculus. This may have been just a fluke but we'll never know.

  • Theory 1 and 2 combined. This theory is that you have to choose the right command and the right time to wake him up. If this theory was true, then only a few handfuls of people would wake Turmaculus.

  • It's all random.

And then there's this one...

  • (Quoted from a person who preferred to be left anonymous) "I have woken him many times before, he wakes randomly every day from a :00 to :30 or vice verse, these are random and cannot be determined without checking every 30 minutes, wakes at least once every 3 hours." This person has got his theory down to an art! Pretty impressive.

  • My Opinion: I think the most believable theory is the second because I have witnessed evidence supporting the speculation. It's the most logical, like I mentioned before, and the most plausible.

Rewards:
Rewards can tell us whether spending the time to make the effort to wake him. Prizes have been reported to be priceless, while there is always the humble food item or two. Some prizes people have received before are: books, food, Battledome items, gardening things and almost everything else. But probably the most valuable gift of all might be the raising of your Petpet's level.

Waking Turmaculus is the only possible way of raising a Petpet's level. There are no cheats, no potions, no training for achieving this. By raising your Petpet's level to even level 2 will have tremendous advantages. If you use you Petpet during a battle, the damage you have conflicted on the enemy is multiplied by the number of levels your Petpet has. For example, if you have conflicted 12hp of damage and your Petpet's level is 3, then you will conflict 36 points of damage altogether. The equation is: (12hp x 3 levels = 36 points of damage). So therefore, spending the time to wake Turmaculus may have some advantages.

Advantages & Disadvantages:
(This information is probably most understandable and simplest written in a table.)

Advantages: Disadvantages:
Only way of raising Petpet's level Time consuming
By raising level, you will have an advantage in the Battledome Sometimes receiving lousy items
Sometimes receiving priceless items Boring because it's a repetition of the same action
Risk you Petpet being eaten by Turmaculus

So, Turmaculus - is he worth your time? In a way, yes but in a way, no. Yes he is worth your time if you wanted a benefit in the Battledome or if you really enjoy winning easily in battle because Turmaculus could really help you in that area (Don't forget he gives out weapons and armour as well!). But no he is not worth your time if you are just there for the items--you would just be wasting your time (you could be winning millions at Buried Treasure!). Apparently, he does give out priceless goods, but very rarely. You are very lucky if you have woken him let alone receiving a precious item.

I have asked many, many people the same frustrating question and most had the same reply:

"No, I don't think it is worth the time. Because he never ever wakes up, and when he does he gives out really cheap items!" - Sweetbabygirl57

But everyone has there own opinion of answering the question. I hope the way I have tried to explain the facts and my own views have helped you find your answer. Next time, when you decide to visit the king of all Petpets to try your luck, ask yourself: "Is he worth my time?"
