Skeithena's Story - The Beginning by twayblade807 | |
Skeithena's owner, John, cared only about winning in
the Battledome, like his friends. John wasn't exactly a kind owner, either,
even though he had a lot of Neopoints. His NP was for Battledome items, Codestones,
and Dubloons, and not for Skeithena.
She, on the other hand, was an unusual Skeith.
Skeithena was as kind as the Kacheek, as swift as the Meerca, and as knowledgeable
as the Lenny. Even though she was so talented at those things, she had the weakest
Strength, Defence, and Endurance a Skeith could have, to John's great disappointment.
As soon as he discovered how weak Battledome-wise
Skeithena could be, he sent her to the Training School. It was her first day
with Ryshu when her life changed so drastically.

Ryshu's first ever Skeithena-training session was interrupted by a loud knocking
on the door.
"Open up, Ryshu!" came a voice through the door.
Ryshu stopped talking about the basics of Neo-Fu to Skeithena and opened the
door.
The person at the door was the Tombola Man. How
very odd, Skeithena thought.
Ryshu and the Tombola Man strolled into an spare
empty room, obviously not wanting their conversation to be overheard, as they
closed the door behind them.
Skeithena couldn't help it - her curiosity got
the better of her, and she pressed her small yellow ear to the door. She heard
the Tombola Man laugh.
"Oh, Ry, those Neopian fools donated me four
hundred thousand Neopoints when I said I'd gone broke!" he snickered.
"Whatever," replied Ryshu carelessly. He added
eagerly, "I take it you have at least four hundred thousand NP now. I'll sell
you one Codestone for three thousand NP; buy as many as you like, I don't care!
Yahoo, I'll be rich - four hundred thousand Neopoints!"
I thought Ryshu and the Tombola Man were honest
people, thought Skeithena sadly. Now I know that when the Tombola man
is "broke" he isn't really broke! He's just pretending to be poor, so that he
can get money to buy Codestones as Tombola prizes, so that his Tombola stays
popular! Skeithena gave a small sob.
Ryshu heard her, obviously, because he threw
the door open, and roared, "How DARE you listen to our private talk, you NOSEY
Skeith! You nosey, stupid Skeith," (obviously the words that Ryshu actually
used were much worse than nosey and stupid, but I won't mention them here) "I
shall lock you up, for if you tell anyone my secret, my business will be ruined!"
The raging red Nimmo made a grab for Skeithena,
but Skeithena was too fast. She slipped out of his clutches and, with her lightning
speed, ran out of the building. Ryshu chased after her.
Skeithena had run to the edge of Mystery Island
when she bumped into a Chia Police Officer, who smiled at her. The Officer pointed
at Ryshu. "Hey, you! What are you doing here, pursuing innocent young Skeiths?
Go back to your Training School, Ry," the Chia ordered. "Anyway, I expect the
Techo Master will be waiting for you, wondering where you went."
Ryshu cursed under his breath, then answered
the Chia, "I...I was j-just j-jogging, Officer," he muttered, while glaring
at Skeithena. He cursed more, and stormed off.
"Now, young Skeith," said the Officer kindly,
"I would dearly like to know who your owner is. Maybe we could return you back
to him - young NeoPets should not be wandering around here. It could be dangerous.
Oh, by the way, my name is Officer de Chia."
"Me? My owner?" whispered Skeithena. "My owner's
called John, Officer. His username is john1235neo6789."
Officer de Chia sighed. "Him? My dear Skeith,
I'm sorry to say this, but thirty minutes ago, me and a couple other officers
arrested (more commonly known as froze) a boy by that name. Sadly, there is
no other choice but to bring you to the pound to see Dr_Death."
A girl with black hair and eyes, who was walking
past, whipped around, and said to Officer de Chia, "Oh, but that Skeith you
have there is beautiful! Can't I keep her? PLEASE, Officer?"
"Well, it's a Chia Police policy to put all NeoPets
with arrested owners in the Pound," said de Chia sternly. But then he softened.
"Ah, I suppose we could always make an exception. Now my friend," he said to
Skeithena, "do you want this girl as an owner?"
"My name is Sharon, by the way," declared the
girl.
Skeithena just nodded and smiled. She was too
happy and relieved to speak.
