Too Much of a Good Thing by tears_of_twilight | |
How many are just too many? That is the question I ask you today. Sure, we
all dream of the perfect family with our pets, but do we really know where to
stop? Most likely not. The truth is, most Neopians adopt too many pets than
they can take care of. The average Neopian pet owner racks up an estimate of
say 2,000 NP a day from playing games. Now, this may be what some would call
'big bucks,' but when you have four pets to house, feed, groom, and entertain,
that 2,000 NP doesn't go all that far. So, again, how many are just too many?
So, we'll be looking over the separate advantages of each number of pets,
weighing pros and cons etc. The first number we will be looking at is a single
pet. This number has to be one of the least popular. I mean, how fun is just
one NeoPet? In short, very fun. In having but one pet, and still gaining that
2,000 a day, you've got riches galore. You can literally feed them off FREE
omelettes and spend that cash on more needed things, like Lottery Tickets. Sure,
your pets MAY get rather sick of the same old drab omelette, but since you've
got NP practically stockpiled, you can change diets every day. In having but
one pet, you can afford more books, more toys, more battle items, more everything.
Also, by having a single pet, you have more time to play and do other such things
since you are not weighed down by having to feed, groom, etc., every pet.
Those were the pros. So, of course, you're in for some cons. Now, problems
with single pets are you may not be able to battle as often due to the fact
that you have to heal them between each battle and you have to wait a good thirty
minutes to heal each time. This means less battling time and more sitting around.
So, maybe one pet is the right number, maybe not.
The next number we look at is the number two. Two is a very nice, even number
and quite popular with Neopian Pet owners. You have the sheer pride to own two
of these cute little creatures, but are you ready to take on ANOTHER one? Well,
two's a great number. IF you earn the estimated 2,000 NP a day, you've got a
thousand to either spend on each or stick in the bank. Now, you probably can't
manage to feed both pets with your one omelette a day, but who knows if you
don't keep them bloated. But, two is usually a great number. This means you
can pretty much battle them non-stop, one being healed, one battling, one healing,
etc., etc.
Now, everything has cons right? A con to having two pets is that you may not
be able to buy everything you want for them unless you've been stockpiling NP.
I mean, you've got food, grooming supplies, toys, costly games, PetPets, there's
a lot out there to snatch your money down the drain. So, you're going to have
to be smart with your money here once you have more than one, though being smart
with your money is always a good plan; even if you have only one pet.
Now, three pets is one of the most popular numbers. I mean, who could resist
those loveable eyes of that little Kougra, or those absolutely adorable feet
of the Pteri? The thing is, NeoPets are just plain hard to turn down. Three,
though popular, is one of the hardest numbers to control. First, on that 2,000
NP a day, you haven't even got 1,000 NP a day to spend on each. That tightens
the belt on your budget a bit. But, if you've stockpiled NP and THEN got your
third pet, you're pretty set. Three pets is a good number due to the fact that
you can battle them non-stop practically, and still have time left over to mess
around. But, the number three's got cons galore. As said before, you're budget
might be tight. Can you keep out of the poor house with those three mouths to
feed, entertain, and consent to their every will? Can you keep them happy and
healthy? Do you have the time to take care of three pets?
The last number is the two-faced four. Four can be double faced. One moment
four pets are grand to keep, the next your sitting in the poor house having
to abandon your pets to Dr_Death at the Pound. Four is the roughest, toughest
number and I do not say that lightly. Ask yourself these questions: Do I have
enough income to support four pets? Can I feed, entertain them, put a roof over
their heads? Do I have enough money saved up? All these questions need to be
answered before you go off and create or adopt yet another and last pet.
In conclusion, all pets are great; be it the numbers one, two, three, or four.
But, the key word is 'planning.' Always question yourself before adopting another
pet. Sure, that cute face is so cuddly and happy, but will that new 'cuddly'
face rip a hole in your pocket with its less-than-cuddly teeth? Remember, the
only foolish question is one that is not asked. |
