Neopia's Greatest Mysteries - Acaras by cappuccinobear | |
The Acara is a being that has been in Neopia for almost as long as the Chia.
However, this creature has many questions surrounding it that have not been
answered, and is probably the most mysterious NeoPet we know of. Here I will
give my answers to the some of the most common Acara Mysteries.
Has the Acara ever evolved?
Of course! People who were present in Neopia between April and July may
remember the Tigren, a creature with paddle-like ears and a feather duster style
tail. This cutey soon had it's name changed to the Acara and a massive physical
change occurred. The paddle ears began to grow, while two long clumps of fur
began to form and trailed down the Acara's back, while the tail disappeared
altogether. Professor Chesterpot, in his early studies, began to even study
himself! As a genius Acara, however, he had hardly any instinct left in him
- except to swim. After conducting tests on himself and his brothers and sisters,
he found that the Paddle-like ears rotated when swimming - meaning that Acaras
could swim in any direction and face the same way! He also discovered that the
two long strands trailing from it's head to the back of the body were not made
up of bones, as was commonly believed. They were made up of tiny little muscles,
without bones - a very unusual combination. However, then it was found that
these would move to streamline or slow down the Acara - up to slow down, down
to streamline. After this, Prof. Chesterpot discovered Maraqua, making him even
more of an Acaran hero. The Acara evolved yet again, only slightly this time,
with the ears becoming larger and moving further down the head and the nose
becoming flatter on the face. Finally, the Acara (which was viewed as an 'ugly'
pet) evolved into the creature we all know and love on Valentine's Day, Year
3. This creature may be a land dweller but can swim farther and swifter than
any Flotsam.
What type of Civilisation do Acaras live in?
Until now, this has been a mystery: not many Acaras have ever been spotted in
the Neopian wild. But with the help of a loyal Acara, Lilacdance, and a tracking
device, Lilac managed to sniff out the scent of other Acaras and brought myself
and Prof.
Chesterpot to a small entrance. We squeezed ourselves in - and lo and
behold, Acaras running everywhere! Carrying food, selling things - it was even
more hectic than the Neopian Marketplace on half-price day! With the help of
a friendly Acara, we found out that there was a huge den underneath Neopia Central,
made up of little dens connected by tunnels. This was where all the Acaras lived
in happiness, safe from hunters, after the cruel destruction of their previous
Maraquan home. We also found there were hundreds of exits directly into the
deepest waters of Neopia for the residents to hunt Koi. Also, the Princess
Fernypoo has a castle in this underworld, made of finest marble, right
underneath Neopia Central's Palace. She rules over them, yet she will help out
if needed - when she's not playing Cheat!
that is!
Are Acaras Endangered?
Currently not! They are the seventh most popular pet in Neopia, with over one
million in existence. Bearing in mind there are also millions of wild Acaras,
I don't think they will be endangered anytime soon :)
When is Acara Day?
The Acara Aquatic Festival takes place on the 28th Day of Relaxing. This is
a day when every Acara in Neopia goes to the Southern Coast of the Mystery
Island, even if it means swimming across the Neopian Channel! Then,
at exactly 2 PM NST, all of the Acaras in Neopia jump into the water, causing
a huge tidal wave to cross Mystery Island. This is a soothing splash to the
natives there, as by the time the month of Relaxing comes round they are burning
hot. This also encourages all of the Summer fruits to grow, causing a kick start
to the days off Neoschool. Then every Acara is free to do what they wish. In
the Acaran underworld, everything is free, and all over Neopia a giant party
takes place.
You have come to the end of Neopia's Greatest Mysteries - Acaras, but have
no fear! I will soon write about any mysteries you always wondered about Neopia.
