"Hi!" Anie69718, Anie for short, said as she bounded down the stairs for breakfast,
"Lovely day isn't it?" she smiled as she helped herself to a Red Apple and a
glass of Sparkling Apple Juice.
"Good morning Anie," Anie's owner Alicia said, "Yes it is a lovely day and
look at this... they have released a new paint brush colour for Acara's, it's
Faerie."
Anie dropped her glass of Apple Juice and gasped, "No they can't!"
"Why not?"
"Because they can't Um, I'm going for a walk! B-bye..." Anie stammered as
she walked out of the NeoHome slamming the door behind her.
In about ten minutes time Anie had reached the center of market in Neopia
and as always it was buzzing with excitement and activity. As Anie walked along
the grey path heading towards the PetPet
Shop for a browse, she paused. Laying on the ground in front of her
was none other then a Faerie Paint Brush. Anie knew that her owner wanted her
painted Faerie colour but that wasn't what Anie really wanted. Anie was about
to walk away from it when she remembered how excited her owner was this morning
when she told Anie about the new colour. Anie sighed and picked it up looking
around to see if she could spot it's owner but she couldn't so Anie just held
onto it as she headed once again to the PetPet store.
"Anie is that you?" Alicia asked peering around the corner. Once realising
it was Anie she sighed, "Oh thank Neopia you are home."
"Why what is wrong?" Anie asked.
"Well I wanted to enter you in the beauty competition this afternoon."
"Really? Even without being painted like a Faerie?" Anie asked hiding the
paint brush behind her back.
"Of course! You are the cutest thing ever!" Alicia hugged Anie. When she let
go she realised that Anie had a Faerie Paint Brush in her hand.
"Why didn't you tell me you had one?" Alicia asked.
"Because I just found it just before."
"You wasn't going to tell me was you?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because I like the way I look now. I don't want to change but then again
I do want to change.... I mean I like my look but maybe it would be good to
have a change once in a while... what do you think?"
"I think you should do whatever makes you happy."
"Okay I will do it!" Anie exclaimed smiling.
After 15 minutes time Anie had changed into a divine Faerie Acara. The Beauty
Contest was in a hour and a half so Anie and Alicia went for a walk down to
the Grooming Parlour for some make-up. But after the make-up was applied Anie
looked in the mirror and made a face.
"Alicia c-c-can I call you mum?" Anie asked blushing. Anie had been adopted
so she had always called her owner Alicia.
"Of course you can."
"Well mum I don't really like the make-up I want to keep it a natural look.
"Anything you want, hun."
After the Grooming
Parlour (and all the make-up had been taken off), Anie went back to
the PetPet Store once again to have a look around. What really caught her eye
was a Hopso.
She decided that if she won the competition she would buy the Hopso and give
the rest of the NP to needy NeoPets and their owners.
Finally the time had come. Anie was really nervous but she went up on stage
(with cheers from Alicia) and walked up to the judges, told them what she would
do to the Neopoints and walked back again... she felt like a princess. After
Anie's little walk the crowd burst into claps and cheers. Alicia ran up to Anie
and hugged her.
"Mum! I haven't won yet!" She laughed.
In half an hours time the judges were ready to announce the winners....
"Third Prize goes again... she the Desert Aisha!" Anie clapped and cheered
for Lithan as she went up to the microphone and thanked everyone who voted for
her.
"Thank you Lithan. Time for the Second Prize which goes to... Daydream the
Cloud Usul! Well done, Daydream!" Daydream smiled as she accepted the award
and practically ran of the stage- she was very shy.
"Finally but not least the First Prize goes to... Anie the Faerie Acara! Congratulations!"
The crowd had gotten to it's feet in a blink of a eye clapping the hardest
they could clap as Anie went up and accepted the award. As Anie looked out into
the crowd she felt a tear in her eye glad that she had won the Beauty Contest
for the first time in her life. As Anie looked back at Alicia she realised that
Alicia was crying, not out of sadness or happiness but out of pride for her
daughter. Anie smiled out at the crowd gave them one last thank you and stepped
off the stage.
