The Ultimate Pastime: The NeoPets Chatting Board by icecream_sundae | |
It had always been a problem for me to find something to do on NeoPets after
I was done with the 'Daily Stuff'. The 'Daily Stuff' consisted of playing three
games each of Meerca Chase and Diva Starz, reading the new features, collecting
all the free items such as Coltzan's Shrine and Tombola. After that, I was stuck.
None of the games in store at NeoPets could last me for the many hours on
I wanted to stay at NeoPets; and though I scoured the Internet, looking for
html sites which held nice backgrounds and images to decorate my shop, no amount
of searching would last me and even if it did, I always found it boring.
My days in NeoPets remained that way until one day, I decided I would try
out the 'Chat Board'. Why hadn't I thought of that before, you might ask. Well,
I always thought it a waste of time, chatting with people I would probably never
get to meet. Besides, I already had an instant messaging that I would chat with
a few school friends. But I was wrong.
I clicked on the big, fat, yellow icon saying 'Chat' and a bunch of other
icons appeared in front of me. I immediately clicked on 'General Chat' which
appealed to me the most then (now, I prefer 'Role Playing'). I saw tons of chatting
boards there. Some had weird titles, while some were true and frank. I clicked
on board which had a title which appealed to me and started chatting.
My chatting right there at that moment was more like Hi. I'm new around
here. Any tips? which sounds rather corny now that I look back at it, for
real chatting has no tips. Immediately, I found myself in a sea of friendly
people (with a few bad Neggs here and there) who were looking for someone, or
a few people to chat to. I fell in love with the chatting boards and visited
them everyday, chatting for hours on end.
This passage here is just for a few awareness tips (one of the few chatting
tips there are). First of all, if you see any boards which are obscene or are
out to scam people, report them immediately to NeoPets by clicking on The
Wall of Shame. If you see someone dissing something like one of your
Neofriends, calm down. If you get worked up, most likely you'll make lots of
enemies. Instead, just tell that person not to type bad stuff about people politely.
But if that doesn't work, you may still report the person. And last of all,
trust your instincts. If a board tells you that something isn't right, stay
away from it, no matter how tempting it looks. |
