A Reviewed Debate: Scorchios vs. Shoyrus

by the_forgotten_faerie

I'd like to congratulate silvermoonlupe for starting yet another debate and also one that has come to my attention long before anything was written about it.

I found the last article about this debate was great and it was one-sided, even the title of the article favoured Shoyrus by putting them first, "Shoyrus vs. Scorchio" .

Although I MUCH prefer Scorchios over Shoyrus, I will try to make this article not so one sided.

Popularity

Yes, the Shoyru is the current most popular pet in Neopia but never forget that the Scorchio is not far behind. I can see very clearly why many Neopian prefer the cute and powerful Shoyru over the Scorchio. Then again, I like the more dragon looking Scorchio...

Shoyru: The Shoyru is cute and cuddly yet also very good in the BD. They make great pets and most also have great culinary skills.

Scorchio: The Scorchio is larger and more traditional-dragon looking. Although they are not as offensive as the Shoyru, the are very good at defense and have held on to the many older traditions of magic skills.

Looks

Shoyru: Now even though I am a Scorchio-lover I have to admit, the big, huge eyes of Shoyru are adorable! They are small and cute with a kind of determination about them. They are a very attractive NeoPet.

Scorchio: I am very much into fantasy and love and collect dragons. I much prefer the more traditional looking Scorchio. They resemble most the dragons of old and look much more outgoing. They may look pudgy but, the way they are standing in the main Scorchio pic is not very flattering, if you know what I mean? All of the Scorchios I know are in very good shape!

Fighting Ability

In this portion of the debate I remain neutral. My opinion of the better fighter is that they are what they are. What I mean by that is that a Scorchio or a Shoyru can be a very good fighter or a very bad fighter, completely depending on who there trainer is and how he/she trains them.

Paint Brushes

Scorchios: The poor things only have six real paint brushes that work with their pet type. (Not including the cheap Christmas Paint Brush and the pointless Invisible Paint Brush.)

Shoyrus: They come in ten awesome colours that make them look even more adorable then before! I'm supposed to be supporting Scorchios but in this aspect the Shoyrus are much more dominant.

Personality

Scorchios: Scorchios are outgoing and friendly most of the time. They prefer hot climates, especially the desert and volcanic regions of Neopia. This suggests that Scorchios are good at making friends and enjoy entertaining. Both of these attributes are great for house pets to have. As for fighting, the fact that they love hot climates suggests that they are good with fire and love using against opponents in the BD.

Shoyrus: The Shoyru is a fiery little creature. Treat him right and you will have a friend for life, but if you are mean to him he will never forget it. This suggests that Shoyrus are very friendly and upbeat. As like the Scorchio, these are good qualities to have in a pet. It also suggests that they like to get what they want... one wrong move and it may believe you to be mistreating it. I you are caught being mean to a Shoyru "... he will never forget it... " So you need to be careful what you say around these creatures.
