Despite previous articles concerning the changes made to the Hidden Tower,
I believe that the recent additions to the Hidden Tower's inventory of rare
items are not necessarily for the worst. I think that, before anything, the
Hidden Tower is a Shop of Dreams. The items sold there were dreamed up by the
Neopets Staff and are now dreamed after by regular Neopians like you and me.
We may never be able to afford them, but they are there for us to view and long
for, to scrimp and save for, and for a lucky few, to purchase and treasure.
Although the Hidden Tower is indeed a shop for rich Neopians, I can guarantee
you that the majority of them are no longer rich if they own one of the more
pricey battle items sold by Fyora. The people I know that own such items are
disciplined and dedicated; without these traits, they would never have come
close to owning such a luxurious item. Whether this item is a toy or a weapon
makes no difference, since this item is the way its owner chooses to portray
himself or herself to the rest of Neopia. It is like a trophy, and they treasure
it because they worked so hard to attain it.
You must be strong to wield these items in battle.
(I do realise that many Neopians who own Hidden Tower items got them as a
gift of by luck, but everyone is entitled to both of those, don't you think?)
Do you remember your first glance into the Hidden Tower? What was your first
thought? I remember mine well. I marveled at the cost of the items, of course,
but I also longed to own one. I thought of how powerful my pet would be if they
were to battle with a Crystal Boomerang or a Greater Orb of the Fire Faerie.
I dreamt of owning an Everlasting Apple so my pet would never go hungry. Is
a dream like that such a bad thing? Now people can dream of how happy their
pet would be to play with a Faerie Queen Doll or to be painted with a Baby Paint
Brush.
I agree that the surge of non-battle items into the Hidden Tower is a huge
change for all of us, but the Hidden Tower has never been limited to merely
Battledome weapons. The Everlasting Apple was not made to throw at someone;
it was made to feed to your pet. Why is there no controversy over this item?
Surely it turns the majestic Hidden Tower into a mere snack stand. My personal
opinion is that it is a special item that adds variety to the wares of the Hidden
tower, and I also think that the same thing can be said for the toys and paint
brushes that are currently being added. These new embellishments are above average,
and some of them are beyond extraordinary--they are surely the things that dreams
are made of. |
