Hidden Tower Items - The Bling-bling of Neopia

by farnaaz34

I stumbled across the Hidden Tower one day... quite by accident. I had been hearing and reading about this place that held only the most powerful and expensive items in all of Neopia so of course I had to go in and see what all the fuss was about.

There were 29 different items at the time and, after first recovering from the initial shock of the prices, I had to laugh at the names and appearance of some of these things. For example : Ultra Attack Chive (heehee! Who would have ever thought that a few blades of chive could be so deadly?), Zaptwig (which looks so bent it's hard to imagine that it could cause any serious damage) and the Bent Fork (*doubled over in laughter by now*).

All of the items were to be used in the Battledome and they held the promise of Battledome victory. Their prices ranged from 14,500,000 NP to 350,000 NP (which isn't too bad for a Bent Fork if you think about it *snicker*). Here's a list of the top 3 most expensive things I saw there and their uses:

Dark Rod of Nova - A rod of purest evil, this black artifact will drain life from an opponent, immolate them with flames, and create three Dark Novas. Price: 14,500,000 NP

Box of Clockwork Grundos - How did they cram so many Clockwork Grundos into such a small box??? Price : 9,000,000 NP

Rod of Nova - The fabled Rod of Nova. At 6 million Neopoints this does not come cheap... but it will create three Novas per turn for your pet, and it also has the power to heal! Price: 5,950,000 NP

And here are the three cheapest items for sale:

Bent Fork - This small bent fork is a magical totem that will bend the opponents Attack Forks! Price: 350,000 NP

Ubikiberry Bag - A bag of infinite Ubikiberry Elixirs! Now THAT is going to come in handy! Price: 250,000 NP

Bombaberry Bag - A bag of infinite Bombaberry Elixirs! Now THAT is going to come in handy! Price: 750,000

As you can see, the rods top the list, going into the millions of NP range while the bag of Ubikiberry barely cross the half a million mark.

Now to the important issue: Are these items worth it? I have not contacted anyone who has used these items as yet but some of them are fragile apparently. The Crystal Boomerang priced at a cool 900,000 NP comes with the precaution that it might break if thrown at something, the Jade Scorchstone (2,000,000 NP) can be used to heal pets, but only once per battle and then there's Little Timmy's Slingshot--a great attack weapon but what do you do if Little Timmy wants it back?

I have come to the conclusion that because of the ridiculous prices, these items have become a sort of status symbol to show a Neopian's financial well-being. Anyone who has Greater Staff of The Earth Faerie at least has a million NP. And who cares that you can get a free Omelette every day--it's not that many people who can boast of having an Everlasting Apple in their shop window.

As for me, I'm contented to save my earnings until that wonderful day when I can finally afford a Dark Rod of Nova for myself. To all those Neopians who have at least one Hidden Tower item--well done! You have worked hard for it so sit back and bask in all your wealth.
