What is Up With Meridell Games? by sun_dragon_69 | |
MERIDELL - Has anyone else noticed how almost all of the games in Meridell are so
simple, but are also so easy to lose at? I am playing a few games of Kiss the Mortog
right now, I only want to have 1075 NP. I started with 975, so logic tells you
that I only have to win two games and I'll be done. The way I am playing at
the moment of writing is just win the first level twice, with the two Mortogs.
But so far, the highest I have gotten my NP to is my original amount, 975. It
costs 50 NP to play, and if you only play the first level, you have little chance
of gaining anything. You would think you would at least break even, but no.
To get on with my point, look at Pick Your Own...
You get dung more often than berries, and only if you are lucky do you get any
good ones. It costs 200 NP to pick berries, but dung and half eaten berries
don't amount to more than 50, and that's only if you're lucky enough to find
a collector willing to pay more than the items are worth.
If you leave Pick Your Own to travel over to the Tower of Turnips
game, you will find another sad NP "maker"; the Turnips game costs 100 NP to
play. One of the best ways to play is to use the one turnip tower. Just one
on top of the other, I think I got to 7 layers once that way.... And even then,
it is not many NP.
Leaving Turnip World, you can stumble over to Guess the Weight.
I say that is a complete waste of time. First, you have to be there when the
Marrow has finished growing. I think only 10 people win at a time, and the average
for a marrow is 200 and 800? I don't know because I am writing this when the
marrow isn't grown, sooo... On to our next waste.
Potato Counter.
When it first came out it was cool, if you counted them all correctly in less
than 30 seconds, you got 100 NP. Now, it's 50 NP for under 30. Over 30 seconds
and you only get 30 NP. If I wanted those results, I'd go play the hard Kacheek
Seek for 2 minutes, and have more fun.
Get back out of Meri Acre Farms and back into main Meridell, and tale a little
60 second trip to the Cheeseroller!
game. First, you have to buy the cheese, the cheapest I know of is costs 150
NP. Then, you have to roll it down a hill in under 60 seconds, as I mentioned.
Actually, my high score of 900 stinkin' points was achieved with the most expensive
cheese that I know of, costing me 1800 NP. If you do the math, I did not come
out ahead.
Ok, next the "game" I want to cover is Turdle Racing.
There is no minimum bid, so I bid 5 NP. I choose Stinky, the fates-I mean fastest
Turdle. Who wins? Good ole number 4, Squelchy, who supposedly sticks to the
floor, with 7:1 odds compared to Stinky's 3:1 odds. Next I bid on Squelchy,
and who wins? Good old numbah 5 with his 9:1 odds. One last try for my one last
bid of the day, and I choose Nutty number 5. Who won? Number 4 again.
Now we shall travel into the beautiful castle run by the "Grumpy Old King",
King Skarl. In the Castle is the game of Double or Nothing
where you take 10 NP and flip a coin. If it is heads, and you win 20 NP (or
double your current winnings), but if it's tails, you just lost your 10 NP
and all of your winnings that you may have had. Wow, only one bet of 10 NP,
and I already have 40. For research I will see how high I can go before I loose.
Whoops, it looks like I lost sooner than I can type. Here is the message I got
"Ha ha ha! Snargan takes ALL your money!"
Also in Meridell, there are a few games that you can actually play and leave
with more NP than you came into Meridell with. One is Meriball, another is
Shapeshifter (if you can actually clear it or even highlight it!), Round Table
Poker, and Ultimate Bullseye (even I agree it was better the first time, bla).
If you are like me though, those games are too slow and hard to understand (with
the exception of Meriball).
Now that my description of all the games is done, I will continue on my point.
There are 8 games in Meridell that are either not worth playing, or you lose
more than you gain, or are so addictive you will eventually lose more than you
gain because you cannot tell when your winning streak is over. On the other
hand there are four games that you have a chance of gaining NP and not losing
or wasting valuable Neopets time playing.
I'm still trying to move on, but I want my point to be clear. Every one has
heard that there is going to be a war soon, and it involves Meridell. I believe
that the "Grumpy Old King" has so many games that cause the players to lose
money because he is about to declare war and wants to have enough funds for
it. Win or lose, war is always expensive.
The King supports the chance games in Meridell because he needs NP for the
war. I do not support war personally, but when it comes down to the nitty-gritty,
I will fight.
What I want to know, though, is who will this war be fought against? Tyrannia
is too far for both of those slow moving lands, they would have to travel an
ocean. And there is no known land between Meridell, Neopia Central and the Haunted
Woods (Go here to see my point).
Is the war with someone in that land, or one of the islands near Meridell? Or
is it with some unknown warmonger, or even Dr. Sloth and one of his minions?
Only The Neopets Team knows, and only time will tell. |
