Pick Your Own - Is it Worth it?

by chantia

MERI ACRES - Pick Your Own is a new craze sweeping Neopia. It's all about the expensive and rare berries, but is it worth it? It costs 200 NP to play this game, found in the Meridell Farm. You can play only once a day. There are several different farm "areas," that you can click. These are mainly filled with berry bushes; some others include a farmhouse, a lake and winding brown roads. When you click on the picture, you get a berry. Or, you're supposed to get a berry. Other finds contain Dung, Rotten (and inedible) Berries, pieces of Barbed Wire and Pieces of Wool. Needless to say, these finds are virtually useless, unless you like collections of dung. Your basket holds six berries, but you don't have to exit out with that many. I always do, because I want my 200 NP's worth. (If you spend 200 NP for six berries, you spend roughly 33 NP on each berry.)

Let's say that you've played Pick Your own 5 times over the course of 5 days. Each time you've "picked" 2 piles of dung and 4 berries.

In other words, after spending 1,000 NP, your dung count will be half your berry count. So...what does that mean? One third of the "berries" you've won on Pick Your Own, after spending 1,000 NP over the course of 5 days have been pointless. So is it worth it? (Keep in mind that this is merely a situation. You could always end up with 4 piles of dung each time...okay?)

You can, however, weigh the good attributes. I find that my Inventory is overflowing with anywhere from 50 to 60 items. Because Pick Your Own is a game, you can take your entire basket of berries home no matter how many items are in your inventory. On the plus side, most of those items are food. I don't know if you've ever felt this way, but I used to find food shopping rather annoying. Many of the shops in the marketplace were sold out and I didn't know what I was looking for in order to search through the shop wizard. Now however, my inventory is always full - literally - of foodstuffs.

At the same time, how many berries are valuable? You will find that many of the berries you get are Half-Eaten Berries, what's left of a Loveberry. There are other berries you can get too: Mortogberries, Red Chiaberries, Fishberries, Pusberries, Eyeballberries and Super Juicy Berries to name a few. The really rare ones come as often as winning 1,000,000 NP from the Scratchcard Game. What do you do with these berries? You can feed them to your pets. You can sell them, auction them or give 'em away.

So, is it worth it? Should you spend 200 NP a day for six "berries," which include things like dung and barbed wire? That's up to you. Me? Well, I'll keep at it. I know that Burritoberry is in there somewhere....
