Unsolved Mysteries: Meuka

by superblitz268

HAUNTED WOODS - A Meerca made of mucus? Not everyone would believe it at first, at least not until they were affected. There have been thousands of outbreaks of Sneezles and similar diseases going on in Neopia, and Neopians are all looking for someone to blame. Well, partially they must blame themselves (read one of my other articles, as it covers why they should), and then they blame Meuka. So then I decided to do a little investigation on just who this Meuka character really is.

My three pets (Glowey, Anthem, and Magic) and I took a trip to Haunted Woods, and what we saw horrified us. There were ghosts, ghouls, witches, vampires, mutated pets, wait a second....pets? We looked closer and we found that all of the ghastly creatures were actually Neopets that had been painted by the Halloween Paint Brush. It was a little freaky at first, as that was supposed to be the nicest part of the Woods. We asked a Kau that was walking down the road if he knew where Meuka was, and he said that he didn't know, but did refer The Brain Tree. I had been afraid someone was going to say that, as the Brain Tree is just plain creepy. And also, the tree lived right in the centre of the Haunted Woods, where all of the most evil beasts live. We probably wouldn't even have to see him, as we may meet up with Meuka before we get to the tree.

We set off the next morning to find the Brain Tree on Glowey's back (Eyrie's can support ten times their weight), and by lunch time we had probably traveled at least 75 miles. We had bought a dozen of Claw-Matoes and Rest in Peace of Chickens at the Spooky Marketplace, so we each had one. Just as we started eating, Anthem cried out, 'Hey! I see something pink over there! Right above those trees, can you see it?'. It turned out to be the tip of the Brain Tree's brain, sticking out just above the treeline. Luckily we did not eat lunch facing the way we were going, as we would have missed it otherwise.

I suggested that we stayed in the clearing we landed in for the night, but my Gelert Magic wisely pointed out that it wouldn't be the least bit safe, as we had no protection. We all loaded back on to Glowey's back and took off for the Brain Tree at full speed. We reached him just in time, the sun had just gone under the horizon when we landed. I started questioning him right away:

Superblitz268(sb): Hi, I was wondering if you knew anything about Meuka. You know, that big slimy Meerca that's been spotted around here.

Brain Tree: Of course I know! I am the Brain Tree! I see all! Meuka stopped by here only yesterday. He asked me where the tastiest Neopets lived, and of course, the answer was Meridell. Nothing like a Neopet that's lived on marrow and potatoes all of his life! A-hem, that's where you would find him now.

SB: Okay... I'll keep that in mind... You're sure he's in Meridell?

Brain Tree: Of course I'm sure! I'm the Brain Tree! I see all!

SB: Thanks! You don't mind if we spend the night here, do you? We wouldn't feel comfortable flying during the night, there's to many ghouls and other creatures flying around.

Brain Tree: You may, just watch out for that pit over there, if you fell through that, you'd find yourself right in Hubrid Nox's laboratory. Muhahahahaha!

So we spent the night near the Brain Tree. We woke up very early, so that we could be well away from there before he woke up. When we arrived back at the motel we had to pack everything up, and take a ferry to Meridell. The town we arrived in was in shambles. There was smoke coming from the pushed in roofs of buildings, Meri-Acres Farm seemed to be on fire, and the Castle was deserted.

We started to investigate. All four of us split up, and I happened to explore the Castle. There I found nothing but deserted halls, empty rooms, and a green secretion covering everything. As I was about to enter the Throne Room I heard a piercing scream from outside. It was Anthem! I ran outside and saw a huge green monster advancing upon something near a smouldering cottage. In his shadow I saw a little Chia cowering in fear. I had to do something! But I was to far away, I couldn't reach them in time to make a difference. Luckily, Glowey was only down the road inspecting an overturn vegetable cart. He flew to the rescue with his Grand Lightning Beam. This subdued Meuka enough to get some answers out of him!

SB: So, you must be Meuka. Am I right in saying that it has been you who has been terrorising and infecting all of these poor Neopets?

Meuka: Of course you are! I am a Sneezle making machine! I'm even in cahoots with the Light Faerie who runs the Wheel of Excitement. Whenever someone gets the skull, pop! They've got Sneezles!

SB: That's sick. And are you the cause of the destruction of this town?

Meuka: Yes, all of the Neopets that lived here escaped before I could eat them though. The Brain Tree should have told me that Meridell Neopets are the fastest runners!

SB: Do you have any idea of where you came from?

Meuka: Yes, actually, I do. I was a normal Meerca once. My family and I took a trip to the Haunted Woods, and I got lost. I ended up falling down this great big hole. I landed in some kind of lab, and there was this really creepy Chia there. He strapped me to a table, and then he injected me with some kind of green fluid. Must I say the rest?

SB: So that turned you into, well, what you are now?

Meuka: Yes, I pledged from that day forth to take out all my anger on innocent Neopets like your Chia! Meuka's wrath will never end!

Just then Meuka slithered free over the ropes that held him and ran away, leaving a sticky trail of green behind. So Meuka once was a normal, average Neopet After all that was done to him, you can see where all of the anger and hatred is coming from. So what should be done? Meuka must be removed before he causes worse damage to Neopia. All of the horrible deeds that he has done, it is hard to ignore. This is Neopian Times Reporter superblitz268, signing off.
