Cash Made Easy - Brought to You By Pterattack

by deremonxenia

GAMES ROOM - When you first look at the game Pterattack, you see a problem. Which gun to get! And what to do about those Grarrls! And the pterodactyls, psh, whatever. Seem like a hopelessly hard game, but with the right info, it can be a cash box just waiting to be cracked.

Basic Info
As a beginner, the tip to know is, whatever you do, do not get every floating ring you see. Each ring stands for a different gun, and starts you off with the first gun of that colour series every time you get a different colour ring than the last. Shooting Grarrls gives you no points. Every 200 points you get an extra life.

Grarrls, Explained
When that HUGE Grarrl comes out of nowhere, you need to be ready. Each Grarrl gives itself away and here is how to know. If you have speakers, turn 'em up, and pay attention. I know that your blaster gets annoying, but your speakers might just save your life. One to five seconds before a Grarrl starts up the screen (window, whatever), he will let a Dr. Evil muhahahah! Basically giving him away. Move to the vertical middle and horizontal middle and get ready to move. Shooting Grarrls gives you no points. Do not go under a Grarrl as it will come down on you.

Pterodactyls and Scoring, Explained
It is necessary to kill the whole pterodactyl to get the points. Every 100 points you go up a level and can shoot new pterodactyls. The following is the pterodactyls in order you can find them. (Ex.- when you reach 100 points, you go to level two and can shoot red pterodactyls) In the scoring this is only true for the "EASY" setting. On the "MEDIUM" setting it is two times that of easy and on the "HARD" setting it is three times that of easy. Refer to the chart below.

Dark Orange - 1 point (2 Pteri-Shooter hits) Pnt. X2 on med. Pnt. X3 on hrd.
Red - 2 points (3 Pteri-Shooter hits)
Dark Green - 3 points (4 Pteri-Shooter hits)
Dark Blue - 4 points (5 Pteri-Shooter hits)
Bright Green - 5 points (6 Pteri-Shooter hits)
Light Blue - 6 points (7 Pteri-Shooter hits)
Orange - 7 points (8 Pteri-Shooter hits)
White - 8 points (9 Pteri-Shooter hits) Pnt. X2 on med. Pnt. X3 on hrd.

Easy Mode
The Green Rings/Spreader: Not my favourite gun in the least. The Spreader is particularly hard to handle and the rings usually show up when you have a relatively high guns of another ring. Level One Spreaders are surprisingly fast and shoot out at odd angles. Level Two Spreaders do have larger bubbles but are extremely fast and impossible to use the side bubbles. Shots still move in erratic angles. I prefer other guns but once or twice I had to resort to the Spreader. My strategy is to use the angled shots with good timing and rapid fire. Also, with the speed of you, (the Pteri) only use the side guns to take out a bird with only one shot needed to kill. Its nearly impossible to get two side shots in and really isn't worth it if the bird dies at the bottom of the screen. Otherwise, get at least three upgrades. I did mention the rings hardly ever show up, right?

Easy Mode
The Red Rings/PteriBlaster: Regularly good gun. You begin with the Level One PteriBlaster which takes two shots to nail basic Pterodactyls. Upgrades come in red rings, and be warned: Pteriblaster upgrades do not flash or blink. This gun is very useful for easy mode and probably shouldn't be used on medium and definitely not on hard. The main disadvantage to this gun is, though it moves fast, it cannot kill multiple pterodactyls with one shot. On upgrades the bullets get longer and faster plus they substantially increase kill power with each added level. My strategy is best used with a quick manoeuvring finger. Stay in the middle of the screen and fire rapidly. Move around and nail the Pterodactyls quickly, then get out of the way. The name of your gun never changes.

Easy Mode
The Blue Rings/BubbleGun: Possibly the best gun in the business. Although the BubbleGun isn't that good, if you have a good Pentium or a decent Mac, its a good starter gun. It is fast and easy to crack off and move. The first gun in the series is the Rainbow Gun, then the Lil'Blaster, Sparkshooter5000, TheBoro-Vanisher, and the DoubleFisted Phaser. The Boro-Vanisher and the DoubleFisted Phaser use interlocking waves. The Lil'Blaster uses two bubbles (each can kill one orange pterodactyl) and the Sparkshooter5000 has three, larger bubbles (each can kill one red pterodactyl). I highly recommend this gun because it is fast, covers a large range of territory and can kill high level birds. There isn't much strategy for this gun, but when you move up in levels, its best to stay at the back of the screen and avoid dark green birds.

Easy Mode
The Red Flashing Rings/Tadow: This gun is a great gun to start off with while finding better guns. Your first upgrade gives you the Tadow, in which one hit can kill a red Pteri. Unusual. The timing is not hard to get down, work on it. The Tadow spins to the right but swings in a zigzag pattern to your left. Upgrades are not the straight red but they flash. Remember the FLASH! Level Two Tadow is called Thatsawrap. Two Tadows come out of both sides of you and the can kill stronger birds. Your next upgrade gives you a Mr. Bones. This is the last upgrade in this gun. This time two sticks fly out of you and get longer and they go further up the screen. They bounce the same as Thatsawrap. As far as guns go this doesn't go high at all. Starters recommended only. My strategy is to turn on your speakers and listen for the roar of an oncoming Grarrl as you stay in the middle of the bottom of the screen. Stay down and fire.
