NeoNutrition:A Dietary Guide For Your NeoPet

by bluescorchio104

Ever wondered why your NeoPet has a weight problem? Can't get your NeoPet to eat its Asparagus? The answer to all your dietary woes is contained this handy article.

First of all, you must always take healthiness into consideration. I assume that you understand basic nutrition, so I won't go into detail. But remember; always make sure that your NeoPet doesn't eat too many unhealthy foods, as a healthy NeoPet is a happy NeoPet. Next, you must think about what species your NeoPet is. For instance, if your NeoPet is a Scorchio, feed it a Hot Tyrannian Pepper as a treat, but keep it away from Water Dogs. If your NeoPet is a Cybunny, feed it lots of Organic Carrots or the occasional Mega Carrot Muffin, but try not to feed him/her too much meat. By now, you should get the general idea. Next, think about your NeoPet's colour. For example, try to feed a NeoPet painted with a Fire, Fire, Pants On Fire Paint Brush with some Hot Burnumups, or a Flaming Fire Faerie Pizza. A Faerie NeoPet deserves Faerie food. After that, consider the price of the food. I know it's tempting to feed your NeoPet on a diet consisting of only Omelette, but have you should consider feeding your NeoPet on a range of fairly cheap foods, instead of just omelette, omelette, omelette every day. About once a week, I hang out at the Food Shop, where I stock up in bulk for the next week's food supply. I buy stuff like Red Apples, Neowaiian Bread and Carrots. In other words, I buy anything under 100 NP. Combined with a few Omelettes, this diet keeps my NeoPet happy. Occasionally, when I win a Faerie Cake, (or something that's not a gross food) from Tombola, I use it to feed my NeoPet. Here's an average meal for my NeoPet:

Entrée - Fried Shrimp
Main Course - Sausage Omelette
Dessert - Chocolate Faerie Cake
Drink - Orange Juice

You see, in this meal, you can give your NeoPet a cheap, fulfilling meal that will last him/her for a few days. But remember, you must always offer your NeoPet a range of foods, not the same thing day after day. On special occasions I like to feed my NeoPet something exotic or a few Neggs. This is the typical menu for a special occasion:

Entrée - Orange Negg
Main Course - Turkey Dinner
Dessert - Mint Ice Cream and a Strochal
Drink - Lime Achyfi

This moderately lavish meal is fairly cheap, but a nice treat for any NeoPet. And if it's a really, really special occasion, you can bring your NeoPet to The Golden Dubloon restaurant at Krawk Island, where you can obtain an exquisite meal for a few Dubloons.

In case you didn't know, what foods your NeoPet doesn't want to eat relies on its name. If the food's name has the same amount of characters (including spaces) as your NeoPet's name, your NeoPet won't want to eat it. For instance, my NeoPet, Bluefire104, doesn't like eating Tchea Fruit. Next, I'd like you to consider fat content. Yes, I know, this comes under healthiness, but it recently occurred to me just how many obese NeoPets there must be in Neopia. I mean, all those Ultimate Burgers and Jalapeno Poppers can't be good for your NeoPet's health. Due to the lack of nutritional labels on food packages, I'm compelled to sue the manufacturers for misleading the public. Unfortunately, there are no lawyers or courts in Neopia. If you have a NeoPet prone to obesity, like a Bruce, Elephante, Skeith etc., try to keep an extra-watchful eye on his or her weight. Try to play games (like Tug-of-war) with them that will help them slim down. The Battledome is also a great place for your NeoPet to lose weight. Don't be fooled if your NeoPet works out regularly but seems to be gaining weight. Remember, when your NeoPet works out it gains muscle, which happens to weigh more than fat. If you're not sure if your NeoPet is obese, just gently poke at his or hers fleshy parts, and if your finger seems to be sink into the flesh 2 cm or so without your NeoPet feeling any pain, your NeoPet is definitely packing on fat in that area.

Ahh, finally we've come to the issue of the famous Gourmet Club. I've often wondered, would these users stuff their NeoPets with such magnificent, not to mention expensive, foods if there wasn't a chance for a trophy? Don't even think about entering if you haven't already got a good score or if you're not a multimillionaire, because you would have an extremely hard time catching up to the users in first place. The last time I checked the Gourmet Club list, the user in first place had eaten 195 foods! Most of the Gourmet foods cost over 2,000 NP, but just supposing that each gourmet food cost only 1,500 NP, to catch up to the person in first place, you would have to spend 292,500 NP! Not to mention that your NeoPet can only eat a certain amount of food in one day.

Finally, we have come to the end of this article, and I'd like to remind you to maintain a varied diet for your NeoPet, and keep away from too many sweets and chocolate. Never forget, a healthy NeoPet is a happy NeoPet!!!
