NEOHOME - Okay folks, listen up! I know just about everyone reading this probably
has a Neohome and a very LIMITED budget. I'm sure everyone has seen the Neohome
Spotlights, where people have about seven rooms on the ground floor, five on the
first, and maybe three on the second -- and every room is filled with furniture
and made out of the most expensive materials available. I cannot, for sure, afford
to build fifteen rooms, fill them all with the most expensive and rarest furniture,
and build them out of silver or gold or any of that. Yes, if you have seen my
Neohome, I do have a lot of rooms. I got that on a budget, and in this article,
I will help the average Neopian create a Neohome perfect for you and your pets
to live in and be happy about the work you put into the Neohome.
**Helpful Hint # 1: Materials. Your house does not need to be made out of the
best material. My house is only made out of bamboo. Cheap, sturdy, and reliable.
If you want, you can go cheaper, say straw or twig, but it is your house, so
do as you wish. Do not build your house out of material that you can't afford
for additional rooms to be made out of later, causing your house to have a mix
of different materials - unless that is what you want. I mean, variety is the
spice of life!
**Helpful Hint # 2: Rooms. No Neohome in the Neopian world needs more than
10 rooms, unless you’re a super-millionaire and have the overwhelming desire
for thirty rooms or whatever. I have nine rooms, and each one serves a reason.
Bedrooms, bathrooms, living room, and even a rec room for my pet's toys. Storage
sheds can be used to store additional furniture, just in case you need to add
a room later on, and you’re in need of some furnishings. Stock up on some cheap
beds, chairs, tables, lamps, etc.
**Helpful Hint # 3: Room Locations. No average Neopian needs to build their
house any higher than the ground floor. When I check out people’s Neohomes,
I look at the ground floor and the ground floor only. I mean, do we really have
time to click on the first and second floor just to look at some fancy-pants
room that someone couldn’t build on the ground floor? I do not think everyone
has that time. We have Neopoints to earn and things to buy, and even Neohomes
to build!!
**Helpful Hint # 4: Furniture. Basic furniture is all you need in one room.
Here are some examples to the furniture you need in your Neohome rooms. Bedroom:
bed, dresser, desk, lamp. Bathroom: sink, bathtub, toilet. Living room: sofa/couch,
a couple of chairs, table, maybe a lamp or two. Those are your basic rooms,
and any additional furniture in other rooms depends on the way the room is to
be used.
**Helpful Hint # 5: Gardens. Gardens are a little fancy, extra frill on the
side to make your home look good. Personally, I do not use Neogardens as I feel
they will suck up my budget with patio tables, chairs, plants, and gnomes. They
are nice to have, but not a necessity - build one if you feel you have the money
to.
**Helpful Hint # 6: Money. This is probably the only thing people want to read
this article for. How do I obtain the money for my Neohome? I saved up money
for about three months before starting on my home. I obtained money from games,
freebies (Coltzan's Shrine, Tombola), trades, auctions, even handouts from Neofriends
looking to help out. The Money Tree works, but not often - you have too many
people to compete with. By the time I started my Neohome, I had a good 75,000
- 100,000 NPs reserved only for my Neohome and nothing else.
**Helpful Hint # 7: Location. Where do I purchase my Neohome (If you haven't
already)? I chose Neopia Central, as it did not cost me as much as say, Meridell
or Faerieland. Location is not exactly a key issue, but it helps if you want
people to find your home easier and be more impressed with location.
**Helpful Hint # 8: Patience. This is the most important step for any new Neohome
builder. You need to be patient with build times and your budget. My budget
ran out twice, causing me to put a delay on my home and earning some extra Neopoints.
This may happen, but you have to understand, if you wait, good things may come.
New furniture, lower prices on furniture, etc.
**Helpful Hint # 9: Extension Options. Extensions are not necessary and like
a garden, just a frill. Personally, I like them because it makes me feel that
my Neopet has light and security and insurance in case of anything bad happening.
Lights, wallpaper, insurance, security is all a frill and must only be upgraded
when you decide your home is done. If not, the price of every new room added
on will skyrocket. Trust me, for every room I add on now, I am paying almost
2,000 NPs more because I did not wait before upgrading my extension options.
Now you can finally create your perfect Neohome, even with your limited budget.
If you follow the steps wisely, you may end up on the Neohome Spotlight one
day! Just remember: Patience is a virtue; money must be earned, not handed to
you; and finally, your pet will love you even if you don't have that thirty-two
bedroom, fifteen bath, four living room, and ten garden mansion that everyone
wants. You worked hard and your hard work will pay off! Remember as well, you
don't need a mansion to be happy, and you don't need the most expensive furniture
for the best Neohome is Neopia. My own Neohome is considered the best to me
because it is simple, comfortable, cozy, and down-to-earth. And it was created
by the average Neopian, who doesn't have two million Neopoints to blow off on
