The Rain Kougra

by ilmma

On a damp night when the clouds were heavy above, a baby Kougra licked its mother's face. It was born Silver, and no more than an infant. The mother did not move, she laid with her large eyes closed

The Kougra was to young to speak, it began to squeak the few meows it could. But the mother lay lifeless. It began to rain, getting harder each second. The grass was slippery, and the poor Kougra slipped down. He began to tumble in circles down a steep hill. Then some one stopped him. A girl, no more than 13, with wet, golden hair, looked at him quite surprised.

***

A 13-Year-old girl sat patiently on a small stool behind a desk. She had two candles lit, both grew dim.

"No customers," she told herself, as the night settled in.

A small storm was approaching, the girl, Elika, was not frightened. She decided to see if anyone would come in within a few more hours on such a lonesome night.

Elika had no pets, which was the biggest problem in her lack of customers; she had fizzy, dark blond hair, and dirt brown eyes.

Hours past, and still no body came in. The rain was now beating furiously upon the tin roof that was laid over her shop. Elika blew out the candles and left her shop for a long walk home. As the Rain grew harder, Elika found she was the only one roaming the streets of Neopia.

Elika's golden blond hair grew very wet, and Elika grew very cold.

She watched her feet. The gritty tennis shoes where useless against the cold rain. Some thing caught her eye, a Small, scared, little baby, silver Kougra rolled at her feet. The Kougra's fur was covered in mud and grass. Its big helpless eyes looked up at Elika.

"Hello?" said Elika looking at the dirty young cub. Elika picked him up and carried him along on the long journey home. When they arrived home, the storm grew worse.

"Who are you? How did you come here?" Elika asked the Kougra.

The Kougra looked at her confused.

"It's almost if you're rain. And just dropped to me. I'll call you Hujan, it means rain in Indonesia," Elika told him.

"L- l- ii-ke!" squeaked Hujan, saying his first few words.

"I like it!" Elika smiled at him.

***

Months past, Elika could not control how sweet Hujan was. His eyes where always big and curious, his sweet smile could make her happy after the worst day. Hujan was very mischief about the house, and always found new exciting ways to get into trouble.

It became a habit for Elika, that every day she'd come back from the shop with a new toy. They played together for hours. And, then Elika would make a wonderful meal. And they would eat happily.

     Life was good.

One day, Elika walked inside a very crowed room with millions of people chatting. Elika could not wait to dive into a conversation.

In the corner was a hooded figure, crying. Elika walked over to it silently and placed her hand on the figure's back.

     "What's wrong?" Elika asked.

A girl, who looked no older than Elika, peered up to her. She had huge brown eyes and short, smooth brown hair.

"They think I'm a scammer!" explained the girl.

     "Why is that?" Elika asked.

"Well, not to long ago, my friend found a program that can tell the bank that you have more NP. So you get more. I merely want to help people. They just don't understand!"

"It's all right, why don't you came to my house and tell me all about it," Elika comforted.

The girl nodded, and did exactly what Elika said.

***

"I'm telling you, Elika, I'm not a scammer? Why do you think I was crying?" asked the girl, Arin, who was trying to have her program work on Elika, but Arin needed Elika's password.

"I don't know. I want to trust you, but why do you need my password? Why can't you just show it to me?" Elika asked. She began to sweat.

"It's too hi-tech for you to understand," Arin explained.

"I'm not sure, you seem sweat, and I don't think you're a scammer. But the Neopets team told me personally to NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR PASSWORD."

"I'm your friend, Elika. I would never want to hurt you. I want to see you happy. I bet you're making a tough choice."

"This is tougher than ever. I don't know. Can't we wait until tomorrow? So I can sleep on it?" Elika asked.

"I'm getting my computer fixed, tomorrow, it's broken," Arin explained.

"If it's broken then how are you on it now?" Elika asked.

"Did I say fixed? I meant upgraded, and I will lose the program while getting the upgrade, so, today is the last day."

Elika shivered, and whispered faintly. "OK. My user name is Elika, and my Password is *******."

Moments later, Elika was out on the street, she was in her NeoHome but now, she was in front of it.

Elika ran towards the door and typed in her password by the side of the knob.

"Password Invalid. Please try again," the house said.

Elika typed it again and again, but the door would not open.

"Arin? Hujan? Let me in! I'm locked outside!" Elika cried.

Arin opened the door. "Sorry, this is my account now."

"But you said you where my friend! You said that you wouldn't scam me!" Elika screamed.

"What's going on?" Hujan asked peeking out at Elika. "Who are you?"

"I'm your new owner. Off to the pound. With you!" Arin laughed.

"What?!" Both Hujan and Elika cried at once.

"Hold on Hujan, I'll adopt you, I promise!" Elika cried.

"If that's the case, then I won't abandon Hujan," Arin chuckled.

"NO!!! Hujan I promise I'll get you back. I will, no matter what," Elika promised.

Arin closed the door and Elika collapsed to the ground, crying. She felt so forgotten, and so lost. She lost everything, even her rain.

"Where is mommy going to go?" Hujan asked, trebling.

"I'm your mommy now," Arin told him..

Hujan's eyes where big and sad. His little paws trembled, and Arin became a victim of his utter cuteness.

"You're not my mommy. My mommy loves me, she plays with me!" Hujan cried.

"Oh, sweat. Hush, my little darling," Arin said scooping him up in her arms. Arin rocked him slowly until he stopped crying.

Arin worked on Elika's account. She was making NP with out scamming, she would buy Hujan all the toys in the world, and she trained Hujan, loved him, and forgot scamming. Now, Arin knew that there was a more fun, less heartbreaking way to earn NP, which was merely playing with her little Hujan.

Meanwhile, Elika was comforted by many people, telling them impressive ways they had been scammed. It crossed Elika's mind that maybe she could scam the scammer. The thought swelled up in her mind. She never liked scammers, they were horrible. Elika couldn't help but want Hujan back.

One damp night, when the clouds towered above, Elika knocked at the door of her old NeoHome Her hair was wrapped up, and huge sunglasses covered her face. She was wearing dark clothing, and looked quite suspicious.

"Who are you?" Arin asked as she opened the door.

"I'm The Neopets Team. May I come in?" Elika lied.

Arin looked shocked. "Yes, come in, right this way."

Elika sat down in the living room, where Hujan sat playing cutely with his toys. Elika want to leap for Hujan and hug him dearly.

"Mommy? Who is she?" Hujan asked looking up at Arin, with scared eyes.

Elika's eyes watered. "Mommy?" she asked herself silently.

"Why, baby, she's just here to... Here to...to...to...to" Arin puttered.

"Check up on your pet," Elika said.

"Ah, Hujan is a very loving pet, and so cute, I love him and feed him well. What ever could he need to be checked up on?" Arin asked.

     Hujan ran to Arin's feet.

"Well, it seems we have some reports that Hujan is very sick and I can only give him the cure," Elika told them.

"I don't feel sick," Hujan pointed out.

"Er.. It's rare and you can't feel it, then one day, lights out," Elika lied.

"Oh dear. My poor baby! Of course what can you do? Please what ever it takes," Arin begged.

"It takes your password," Elika told her.

"OK, it's *****" Arin told Elika. Elika threw her costume off, revealing her identity.

Suddenly the door swung open, and a strange man stood in the door way pointing a gun at Elika.

The gun was light blue, it was shiny, and very odd.

The man pulled the trigger and out came a blue ray of light. Elika fell to the ground, she had been frozen.

Next the man pointed the gun towards Arin, light sprouted, and Arin froze to the ground.

He closed the door and Hujan sat, looking at his two mommies.

"Arin!" he cried as her ran to Arin. He placed his paw on her hand; her hand was so cold, that it stung.

"Elika?" Hujan cried as he ran over to her. Her hand was also painfully cold. Hujan wept. And it began to rain.
