The Return of Neopian Rivalry

by chimesjon

AIR FAERIE CLOUD - In my recent article, "Neopian Rivalry", I mentioned that there were many more rivals in this Neopet world. Well, here's another work that will point out some more rivals. Neopians aren't exactly the only ones that are opponents to each other; games may also rival each other.

Go! Go! Go! and Cheat!

The luck games Go! Go! Go! and Cheat! seem to have quite an amount of competition with each other. Both games are played with cards and various characters and different rounds. In Go! Go! Go!, you are to place cards that are equal to or higher than the card that is on the Stack Pile. In Cheat!, you are to decide correctly on whether one of the Cheat! players are honest about their placed card or not. Both of them have prizes consisting of NP and perhaps a shiny trophy to show off to pets and owners in your user-lookup. But Cheat! does have several advantages: at most times whenever you win you will get NP and a Battlecard at the same time, and you may receive NP each time you catch a player cheating (plus, you also get more NP at the end of the round if victorious). Go! Go! Go! has advantages as well. Winning a Cheat! trophy is probably the easiest trophy to receive, so not many people would be impressed by one. Go! Go! Go! is definitely harder than the other game, and you'll be using more strategy and skills to play this game.

Uggsul and Fernypoo

These two originate from both of the games mentioned above. Uggsul plays in Tyrannian game Go! Go! Go!, while Princess Fernypoo plays in Central Neopian game Cheat! According to Uggul's profile, she doesn't play GGG (Go! Go! Go! for short, please) for the riches, as she already has her own wealth. Instead, she plays so she can show off to Fernypoo and stop her from bragging about her Cheat! skills. Fernypoo originates in Cheat! She was a princess of a fabulous kingdom, but left on her own when he found out that her father, the king, ordered the servants to let her win. Currently, these two Neopians continue to attempt to win the championships in their own games in order to prove who is the best card player of all time.

Brain Tree and Money Tree

The Brain Tree and the Money Tree are probably the only trees who talk and are classified as Neopian citizens. The Brain Tree, located in the Haunted Woods, is the largest living thing in the spooky world...well...competing against the Esophagor. He waits patiently in the woods for people and pets to accept his quests, since the huge tree is always hungry for more knowledge, struggling and having an ambition to be the most intelligent figure in the face of Neopia, and he gets what he longs for in exchange for NP and special items. The Money Tree on the other hand, gives out items and NP for free rather than asking for something in exchange. Well, the Brain Tree has advantages for his prizes; they are more valuable and useful. The Money Tree sits in the centre of the Neopian Marketplace, with many donating or claiming cheap items and small amounts of NP. These two trees butt heads with each other on giving out NP and items...who knows? In fact, they could be friends.

Wheel of Excitement and Wheel of Mediocrity

Okay, in the competition with these spinning wheels, I'd have to say Excitement is more well...exciting. The Wheel of Excitement, located on one of the puffy cumulus clouds in Faerieland, gives out the better prizes than those of Mediocrity. Excitement has most of the advantages, and has the best rewards, even though it may have some of the worst consequences. Mediocrity is just as mediocre as the name suggests. The price to play is half of that of Excitement, and the consequences aren't as bad, and neither are the rewards too good. The main advantage Mediocrity has is that Neopians won't really come down with a disease (which is one of the Excitement consequences).

Brucey B and Spectre

Brucey B and Spectre are another pair of rivals that come from Cheat!, except they play in the same game. These two are practically mentioned as rivals, and even enemies. They weren't introduced as opponents until the Sakhmetian Siege was starting to commence under super-maniac Dr. Frank Sloth. Their rivalry started at the beginning of the Sakhmetian Siege when Spectre, a red Jetsam who is the top Cheat! player in Neopia, won Brucey B's lucky medallion. Well, to get more information on that incident, why not check it out yourself? Brucey B eventually got the medallion back later on after the battle with Sloth and his dim-witted soldiers was over. The last time the two saw each other wasn't too long ago. Spectre meets his rival in the Sakhmetian game, Tug-O-War, simply naming himself Unknown...

Monocerous and Jubjubs

The Jubjub is the most fortunate pet in the face of the planet when it comes to the Monocerous case. The Monocerous is a ferocious beast that roams throughout Neopia and paralyses its victims with its deafening roar. Strangely and fortunately, Jubjubs are immune to the roar, which seems to make the furious beast's dark life a bit difficult for it. But the most unusual thing owners and Neopets including myself have heard about the Monocerous is when it sometimes encounters others. Usually it says it once ate 16 Jubjubs in one week...I guess this wouldn't make a Jubjub too fortunate after all. Jubjubs are one of the only pets that has a natural enemy that is included in the Gallery of Evil.

Vyssa and Sankara Princess

Sankara and Princess Vyssa (well, currently Queen Vyssa) are some of the political rivals. Especially after finding the actual evidence that Princess Sankara was the one who had assassinated King Coltzan III, Vyssa and Sankara aren't necessarily the best of friends. Sankara was an Aisha born from a wealthy kingdom, which fell to another evil empire. Before, while Coltzan was alive and well, the king took Sankara in and gave her shelter...and still Vyssa and Sankara didn't become friends much! Even though the Usurper case was solved a while back, a whole lot of the mystery remains unsolved.

Island Mystic and Haiku Generator

As much as useless these two Neopian features are, they have amazingly developed something against each other now. The Island Mystic and the Haiku Generator live in Mystery Island, giving out pointless information... but still, "Pointless information is pointless but gives a point." The Island Mystic lives near the side of the Mystery Island coasts. He tells visitors strange fortunes that sound as if they had come from the Neopet fortune cookies. The Haiku Generator lives in a straw hut in the thick areas of the tropical island. The mysterious Kougra states peculiar yet enjoyable poetry. The Island Mystic has been running out of fortunes ever since the Haiku Generator feature was created. But there are hardly any advantages here between these two. Yet they continue a new competition between each other. But...if you're planning on getting some useful information from these Neopians...forget about it.

Well, those were just some more rivals. I hope you have enjoyed this article very much. There are so many rivals that it'd take a LONG time to name them all.
