Have you ever wanted to create a collection of items that appeal to you? Ever
wanted to own an expensive and magnificent gallery? Then this article is for
you…
So, you've just visited a brilliant gallery where you marvelled at all the
rare and retired items, gasped at the complete sets and stared wide-eyed at
the sheer number of items the owner has? And you've though to yourself, "I really
want to own a gallery like that." But then, reality hits, you notice your bank
balance and sigh deeply, "But I can't afford something like that."
Well that's what I thought at first, but then I realised that all galleries
must start small. So I set about thinking of ways to make a small, but still,
pleasing and interesting gallery.
The first thing to remember is that nobody is interested in a random collection
of items; give your gallery a theme. Whether it is a theme of items such as
"chocolate" or "books" or whether you would rather collect items related to
your favourite NeoPet, I'm sure you'll agree a gallery with a good theme is
much more enjoyable to visit than someone's pile of junk that has no meaning
to you.
Once you've settled on a theme it is a good idea to break this down into a
smaller and easier to collect categories. For example, say I was making a drinks
gallery, which ultimately would display every drink in Neopia, I wouldn't just
start blindly buying drinks off the shop wizard. No, I would follow the following
guide:
1. Research - Research is always the first step when you are compiling
a gallery. So you've decided to collect drinks? What drinks are there? Well
we've all heard of Neocola, so you run along to the shop wizard and search for
"Neocola". You jot down all those items and make "Neocola" one section to collect.
You continue to research the items for drinks (slushies, tea, etc.) until you
have a list of 10-15 small categories that covers all the available drinks in
Neopia.
2. First Purchases - Now you've got a list of small categories in
front of you. What's the next step you ask? Start buying! Pick a category, say
Neocola, and go and buy all the items in that category. Stick them in your gallery
and hey presto! All of a sudden you have an interesting gallery. Even though
its only the first steps of your gallery you now have all of the Neocola items
in NeoPets in your gallery. Which, I'm sure you'll agree, is far more interesting
than a random assortment of drinks with no relation to one another.
3. Complete Your Collection! - Now you can start buying those other
categories. You don't have to do this straight away because, after all, you
already own a good gallery, but we all know the best galleries are the ones
with the most items! One word of warning; I would advise completely compiling
a category before adding it to your gallery. For example, buy every Krawkade
before placing them in your gallery, this once again goes back to the point
of having a complete gallery.
4. Now What?! - So, you've got a gallery which is displaying every
single drink in Neopia? Why not add something else? There's nothing stopping
you! Try to stay to the same theme. If you have all the drinks why not move
onto food? Faerie Food for instance. Now your gallery can grow and grow, the
sky's the limit!
