Today we will be searching out the question to the commonly asked question
are Eyries Carnivorous or Herbivorous? The young Scientist HarpyAnne, a purple
Chomby, will go on a mission to see out the answer.
Hello I’m HarpyAnne and for my studies I have decided to explore the famous
question of: Are Eyries Carnivorous or simply peaceful Herbivorous? When
studying my Sister, Clawbeak, who happens to be an Electricity Eyrie, my questions
were still not answered.
HarpyAnne: So Claw, what do you eat?
Clawbeak: You know what I eat you eat with me?
HarpyAnne: But for the benefits of the Experiment, what do you eat?
Clawbeak: I’m not going to be your Lab rat…
After giving Clawbeak a dirty look and threatening to tell or owner Dan
how she flew onto the roof, she decided to cooperate.
HarpyAnne: Now Claw, what do you prefer to eat Meat or Vegetables and Greens?
Clawbeak: Well, I like the odd bit of Meat here and there… but mostly Greens.
HarpyAnne: Have you ever hunted another NeoPet?
Clawbeak: Hunted? Well, I must say I do have the urge to pounce on the odd
Chia and Meerca now and then, but I wouldn’t eat them!
HarpyAnne: Thank you for your help, Claw, I’m still going to tell Dan about
the roof incident.
After running away from Claw and locking myself in my Lab my studies continued.
The bit Clawbeak said about having the urge to Pounce stuck in my mind, perhaps
there was an ancient Eyrie instinct calling out? For that question to be asked
I would have to go and observe Eyries in the wild. Wild Eyries aren’t seen often
but thanks to my genius and the wonderful people of Faerieland I was able to
find an exact location of where wild Eyries nested.
Arming myself with my Chomby Goggles, Sturdy Chomby Helmet and Chomby Rocket
Belt I set off for the Jungles of Mystery Island with my brothers, a white Blumaroo
called Roosey, who was armed with Blumaroo Battle Gloves, Shield and Mask, and
a yellow Kau called Adrastis, who was armed with his Kau Helmet, Horns and Battle
Hoofs.
We arrived in the jungle and we found it to be hard to work through the thick
muddle and mash (this is not a place for a Chomby). Eventually, we arrived at
the location, more difficulties because I had to climb a tree (please note:
Chombys are not built to climb trees). My brothers stayed at the bottom while
I climbed the tree. Let me tell you it took three hours just to reach the top.
A family of wild Eyries were nested in a tree not too far away, their keen eyes
saw me immediately, but ignored me. The mother was sitting in a large nest with
two small baby Eyries, whilst the father sat on the end of a branch--he was
searching for something. The mother plucked out some purple and red berries
and fed them to her babies. But then something else got my attention... the
father dropped from the tree and fell to the ground. He pounced on something.
It was a grizzly sight as the male Eyrie plucked a Meerca from the ground and
brought him back to the nest. I closed my eyes and, from shock, fell from the
tree. My brother, Roosey, climbed up the tree next and drew a perfect picture
of the four Eyries sitting in their nest in his Sketch Pad, he was the best
artist and his drawings were amazing.
We got home later that night, and I studied some more. The Eyries were eating
berries yet the males still hunted, which bought me to the conclusion that they
are both Carnivores and Herbivores, they do hunt but will eat plants. Just when
I thought I had figured it all out, my sister the Eyrie came in to look at the
drawings. After I pointed out the Eyrie that was hunting and attacked the Meerca
she giggled at me, telling me that the Eyrie looking after the Babies was male
and the Eyrie hunting was the female. Another question! Does the male take care
of young while the female is out hunting and protecting the nest!? Something
to ponder over. Thank you and good night. |
