The Pirate Island

by pippa1234

Ever since a giant whirlpool sucked away the beautiful underwater city, Neopia has been in an uproar. Articles, theories, accusations, interviews, reports, it has all hit us with a big, wet slap in the face. And I, like any other faithful Neopian were distraught at the demise of a flourishing world. So, logically I came to a conclusion: Somebody have created that whirlpool. I am hearing you gasp with amazement at my theory. Yes, it is what 14,000,000 other Neopians have concluded as well, but I, unlike some others, have decided to investigate.

Logically the finger is pointing to the Pirates. Eyewitness reports, the sudden emerging games, and appearances of rough and ready pirates has sent us running in the direction of the pirates. And considering every time a new world appears, our faithful Neopian Crew give us giant hints in the way of themed games and pages.... I decided to look at the obvious. So, with my faithful and quite gifted Chia, MrRolyPoly, we set out on a mission, to uncover who, what, where and when these Pirates invaded Neopia.

Our first journey took us to the wrecked scene of Neopia. Obviously, we couldn't get close, because the ten mile wide Whirlpool was still whirling madly like a whirlpool does, but a bit further out to sea I found a sad, melancholy, lone Peophin slowly swimming along. I presented myself and a rather seasick MrRolyPoly and we tried to interpret as best as we could the unusual, haunting tale of our swimming friend. For security reasons we will no disclose the Peophin's name, so he will be called Mr. Peophin.

Myself: Hello...Can I help you?

Mr. Peophin: *wooo* I am so sad...so sad....

Myself: Why?

Mr. Peophin: When I was a young lad, my favourite pastime was to swim out to Maraqua with my owner and play amongst the streets, stopping near the Kitchen to peek through a little window and glimpse the beautiful glamour of the palace kitchens. I could spend hours alone, exploring, while my owner shopped for the freshest seafood. Those where the days. *A sigh-woo noise*

Myself: And what about now?

Mr. Peophin: Ah, I was there only days before that horrid swirly thing destroyed everything, I can remember it clearly because something strange happened, odd really...

Myself: Yes, yes Continue.

Mr. Peophin: There was a strange figure roaming the back street of Neopia, of course now I only look and sit and watch, since I'm so old, but he was snooping around, chanting unusual things, he seemed rough, with a long beard and a strange tattoo now to think of it... he reminds me of the characters my old grandfather used to tell me about these Pirates who once showed up in Maraqua looking for treasure....

Myself (Rather Excited): Tell me about that...

Mr. Peophin: I can't remember much, but It was rumoured a gang of about five pirates where repeatedly seen in Maraqua a long time ago, demanding some sort of treasure, it was said that there was priceless mounds of treasure buried deep underneath the palace, and the only way to find it was to destroy all of Maraqua, then some how you could find the treasure. I'm rather sorry but my memory isn't as good as it used to be these days...did you know that I once attacked a Meerca? I am rather proud I whacked him with my tail....

At that moment myself & MrRolyPoly decided to go away and leave our friend to his memories. But the story has raised some interesting questions. So where HAD Maraqua gone and who was to blame? Currently in the Mystery Island there is a Rock Pool for refugee PetPets, we checked that out but not many had much to say. We also looking into the Kitchen Quests, but were declined an interview. So where to turn next? Of course... the pirates.

We went first to the Pirate Games, not much there. Then the Swashbuckling Academy, it was rather busy so we didn't linger there, and then I went to the Base of the Pirates, Pirate Island. Myself and MrRolyPoly had gone there a few weeks before and where met with the rather unusual piratey message of:

Y'll not find what yer lookin' here for, Matey.

Further puzzled, we left. Then, as our search had led us back, we had spotted the Pirate Island. Now to our eyes it is empty and barren, but those shifty pirates probably had a secret lair. Unfortunately we could look no further.

So what, we've uncovered is the Location of the pirates, Pirate Island. Perhaps we've found answers, yet in the end we raised more questions. Now as I leave, I realise only time will tell... and the mystery of the Pirates can be revealed.
