One-use Item Guide

by trailblazer20

BATTLEDOME - With the war right around the next corner, all Neopets owners are gathering an assortment of weapons spending all their Neopoints in the process. While most have the secret ambition of finishing the final boss, some only wish to get a win or two. For those, the easiest way to accomplish the feat is by equipping high powered one-use items:

SNOWBALLS

They come in many different types. Here is the list of them starting by the weakest and ending by the strongest: wet snowball, poison snowball, evil snowball, yellow snowball, peach snowball, stone snowball, exploding snowball, icy snowball, sticky snowball and snow mudball. The excitement of the war has inflated the prices of snow mudball so if you are looking for the best NP-usefulness ration then sticky snowball is your best bed

MUFFINS

There are 8 types of muffins: battle, jelly, evil, fire, water, radioactive, stone and poison. Of all those muffins, the last four are the strongest. They are even stronger than snow mudballs, which explains they're rather high inflated price. Still, they are the best throwing weapons around and will really hurt those creatures.

CLOCKWORK GRUNDOS

There are 4 types of these and they have a nice animation when you strike another pet/monster with 'em. They are: red, blue, yellow and brown. All are of the same effectiveness; the only difference is the type of icons they deal. Red does fire, blue water, yellow light and brown earth. However, you may notice a big discrepancy between the prices of the blue and yellow versus the prices of brown and red. This is because the brown and red clockwork grundos are rarer than the other two. So if you plan on using grundos for the war, stick to the yellow or blue.

NOVAS

Novas are special 1 use item and can be very useful as they also heal your pet. The stronger the nova, the more damage it does, the more it will heal your pet. The ascending order is: nova, supernova, darknova and ultranova. The ultranova being the most powerful is very expensive. However there is another reason which explains their cost: they may come back for another round and another... So as long as your luck holds you may still use your ultranova.

DEFENSIVE ITEMS

There are 4 items worth mentioning:

Downsize power plus: It blocks ALL icons and your pet will take NO damage. Only downside, it is rather costly but extremely useful if your pet has a low hp. The only way someone will hurt you is if they use the ability drain life (war monsters won't have it) or by using a battle plunger (also very rare).

Force shield: It acts like the downsize power plus except that it may come back in the next round like the ultranova. However, this still doesn't explain its outrageous price!! Avoid those and stick to Downsize power plus.

Pumpkin shield: This item can be described as a weaker Downsize power plus. It still blocks the majority of icons and can be very useful it you cannot afford the downsize power plus.

Lucky robot's foot: This items act like a jade scorchstone and will heal your pet FULLY at the beginning of the next round. It's very useful and makes your opponent feel as if they're facing your pet twice in a row!

On a final note, these items will disappear after you use them thus their name(one use), you will need to repurchase them if you wish to use them again in the next battle. There are other such items but I felt they were too ineffective to mention. So when war comes, make sure to have a couple of these along with your regular weapons, they make excellent desperate attack or when your opponent is frozen.
