Abilities, Abilities, Abilities

by ongty

Ever wonder how a pet with equal stats as you pushed your poor pet's face into the mud and stepped on it? Ever wonder why you couldn't even beat Harry the Mutant Hedgehog in a match?

The answer is: You don't have good abilities.

After weapons, abilities are arguably the most important thing your NeoPet has to master. Ever why they give you a Power Bar? If abilities weren't so good, they wouldn't bother limiting the number of abilities used.

First of all, in case some of the newer Neopians don't know, abilities are gained through bottled Faeries which are found or purchased at a shop. They can then bless your pet with a useful ability.

Wait! Did I say 'useful ability'? Beware, some abilities are useless, or at best, pitiful. So, I will try and list out some exceptional abilities, and what level your pet must be to use them.

Useful Abilities: (Five Stars is FULL marks)

Restore/Regeneration
These two abilities are from the Light and Earth Faeries respectively, and level 22 is needed for Restore, 23 for Regeneration.

These abilities heal 33% of your pet's LOST HP. They are useful for high-hit point Neopets. They are to be used on STRONG setting.

Rating: ****

Diamond Dust/ Fiery Gaze
Diamond Dust is an air ability, and fiery gaze is a fire ability. Diamond Dust requires level 27, Fiery Gaze requires level 6.

These two abilities are not reliable, but they can make a huge advantage in combat, if you can freeze your enemy for one extra turn.... Use this ability on WEAK setting.

Rating: ***

Heal
Water Faerie supplies this ability at level 1.

Heal regenerates a random amount of HP for your pet, usually between 2-15HP. Good for beginning Battledomers. STRONG setting is the way to go for this ability.

Rating: ***

Drain Life
This dark ability is blessed at level 21.

Drain Life steals 11% of your opponent's remaining HP, which is good for whittling down high HP pets. This is useful in the one-player Battledome, when the opponents have outrageously high HP. MY FAVOURITE! This ability only requires a WEAK setting to be effective.

Rating: *****

Sink
This ability is blessed by the Dark Faerie and it will only be blessed at level 32.

One of my favourite abilities, it defends against all DARK, FIRE, LIGHT, WATER and PHYSICAL icons, making Novas, Attack Fork, Hydro Hammer and many good weapons useless.

This requires STRONG setting to block all of the DARK, FIRE, LIGHT, WATER and PHYSICAL icons.

Rating: *****

Burrow
Earth Faeries grant this ability at level 10.

This is good. Like Sink, it blocks all the icons of some types of damage. It blocks all AIR, EARTH, FIRE, WATER and PHYSICAL icons. Say bye bye to Golden Butter Knives and Greater Staff of the Earth Faerie! Like Sink, use this on STRONG setting for full effect.

Rating: *****

Hope this guide gives you a better insight on the various useful abilities… feel free to question me regarding the various abilities and their uses…

This is ongty signing out.
