The PetPets Strike Back: Part One

by deadly_dreamer

About 100 years in the future, most NeoPets and their owners were fast asleep. But the owners of a NeoHome on Bracken Road were still awake.

"Haha, stay still Brandy, how can pretend to be in the Battledome if you wont fight?" shouted Rookie to his pet Warf.

The blue Kacheek found his pet sitting in the living room. "Okay, now stay still, I'm going to use my Attack Fork!" he shouted and lunged for Brandy.

Brandy stayed still, but when the attack fork was only inches away from its face, he pulled a Wooden Shield. Rookie tried to stop but he plunged into the shield and was flung to the other side of the room.

"Eeeeeeee!"

The Warf laughed, happily.

"Haha, it looks as if you've still got a long way to go grandson," said a voice.

Rookie looked up. His grandfather, a Green Kacheek, was looking at him, "I hope you learned a lesson just then, Rookie."

The Kacheek got up, "Yeah, never leave your PetPet in the Weapon room," he grumbled.

His grandfather shook his head. "You shouldn't treat your PetPet like your toys, sooner or later, they're going to fight back."

Rookies grandfather walked over to the couch and sat down. He patted the seat beside him. "They did once you know, come here and I'll tell you about it…"

"Sky get back here now!" shouted Jackabenze to his pet Airax. "I've got to go to the Shops and I don't want you to fly away whilst I'm gone." Sky looked at him, sighed, and flew to Jackabenze's shoulder. Jackabenze smiled. His PetPet was so loyal. Even though Sky didn't originally belong to him, The Airax treated the Fire Lupe as if it was.

"You shouldn't treat Sky like that," said a voice. "He would have come sooner or later, you didn't need to shout."

Jackabenze groaned. He knew that voice. "Siquero, I can take care of my own pet okay?"

The way it worked in this NeoHome was that you got what came your way. And it worked the same way with PetPets. Siquero was the first to get one. She'd gotten an Airax, and named it 'Sky.' But she was too hyperactive for Sky, and as time went on, Jackabenze adopted it. He'd wanted to change its name, but it didn't answer to anything but Legend of the Skies or Sky.

Jackabenze turned round to face Siquero. For a Zafara, she was pretty carefree about everything, except for one exception.

Siquero frowned at Jackabenze. "I'll let you off this time but don't think I'm not watching. The way we treat PetPets is atrocious, they have feelings too."

Jackabenze groaned again. He had heard this speech 2000 times by now. Their owner, Dazzlemint liked the idea that Siquero was standing up for what she believed in. But she was gone for one week on holiday. She had wanted to put them in the Neolodge but kamedaki, Jackabenze, Leonot and Siquero believed they could hold their own.

"Oh no, not the PetPets talk again, we know it all by heart by now," said Kamedaki, walking towards them. She was a blue Acara, and had a feisty temper. "Leonot's putting Jake, Scrap and Venom into the NeoHome, but he can't find Sky."

Jackabenze looked at his PetPet. And it stared longingly back. "I've got an idea" he said, "Lets take out PetPets out too. They could use the exercise."

Sky Squawked in agreement.

"This was a great idea Jackabenze!" said Kamedaki. "Just think of all the deals I can get if I say Venom will bite them if they don't bring the price down."

Venom, Kamedaki's Cobrall, was wound round her neck. Its eyes opened at the sound of its name, and closed again.

"Easy for you to say" grumbled Leonot, who was having a hard time keeping track of Jake, his Moltenore. "Oh no! Jake, don't trip that Uni up, JAKE!!!!"

Jackabenze and the others watched the Green Shoyru fly frantically over to the Hot Dog Stand. "He should have gotten a lead like mine," said Siquero. "It gives the PetPet plenty of room to roam, and keeps it safe. Her Anubis yapped in agreement.

Once Leonot had his pet under control, and haggled Scrap' lead off Siquero for 2 Cheops Plants (Scraps favorite), they walked round the market.

However, when they stopped so Kamedaki could look under the money tree, they noticed a lot of NeoPets running to the front of Kauvara's Magic Shop. "What's going on over there?" wondered Jackabenze.

"Hmmm," answered Siquero, who hadn't been paying attention, and had been looking at a young Chia who was teasing its Walking Carpet. Sometimes NeoPets were so insensitive. She was just about to go over there when Leonot grabbed her hand.

"Come on, were going to see what's going on at the Magic shop," he said.

As they ran to the crowd, Siquero thought to herself, "If I had the power, I'd stop this abuse, and then those mean spirited NeoPets would be sorry.."

As they stumbled to the front, they saw an old Techo, standing beside Kauvara. On the table beside them, was a bottle of black smoke. Kauvara started to talk. "I want to welcome you all to the Magic Shop today, for we have, Dr. Rebus bond here to talk about his latest discovery he found in the pyramids of Sakhmet!"

The Techo walked up and started to speak. "As some of you already know, I am one of the greatest Archeologists in Neopia, and when I was studying the Ancient Ruins in Sakhmet, I made a startling discovery." He gestured to the black smoked bottle. "I found over 50 of these strange potions, all appearing to be some form of Morphing Potion. Once testing has been done, they will be appearing in the Magic Shop very soon. Everyone started to talk at once. "I wonder what these potions do?" said Leonot.

"I'd never try one," said Kamedaki. "Look at it, it gives me the chills just looking at it."

Suddenly, Jackabenze shouted, "No! Sky, don't touch that!" Everyone whirled their heads round. Jackabenze's Airax had picked up the potion, and was hovering around with it. Dr. Bond made a lunge for Sky, but he missed.

Sky Squawked, obviously having a great time.

"Sky!!!!!" Jackabenze shouted. "Get down here now or I'll feed you to Venom."

"Venom can't eat an Airax!" Kamedaki shouted. "Too many feathers."

"You don't need to threaten Sky, I'll get him down," said Siquero, and she ran towards the Airax.

Sky watched her coming, and started to fly up. But it had forgotten that Siquero was a terrific jumper.

Siquero jumped up and grabbed Airax, but even at that height she was only holding it as softly as possible. As she landed, she started to talk to the PetPet. "Calm down Sky, I'm not going to hurt you."

The Airax relaxed, and let go of the potion.

"NOOK!!!!!!!!" shouted everyone.

Dr. Bond and Kauvara both tried to stop the falling potion, but they were too far away.

The potion bottle cracked, and a hiss of steam crept out the crack, then, nothing. But just as everyone took a relaxed, the bottle blew up… right on Siquero and Airax!

"Ahhhhhh!" shouted Siquero, twisting her body to protect Sky.

The black smoke started to thicken, and the two of them became impossible to see.

"Siquero, Sky!" shouted Jackabenze, coughing in the smoke. "Where are you?"
