"Before the beginning of time, only one NeoPet existed. It was called a Kakabee.
It existed such a long time ago, that even I don't remember what they looked
like. The Kakabees were a happy, peaceful race. But they were very lonely. One
day, they created many more pets, like the Scorchio, the Chomby, the Lupe, and,
of course, the Peophin."
Peopatra stopped, pausing for effect. Jackabenze, Sunni and Capara were hanging
on to her every word.
"However, they also created other types of Pets. Some are yet to be re-found
of course, but they also created types like the Airax, the Kadoatie, and the
Bloop."
Suddenly everyone started talking at once. "Are you telling us that PetPets
are NeoPets?" demanded Jackabenze. Peopatra frowned. She hated being interrupted.
"Yes, now do you want to hear this story or what?"
Everybody settled down again.
"That's better, now listen," Peopatra told them.
"Anyway, all of the NeoPets were living peacefully, when a new creature appeared.
They were humans. When they came to Neopia, they were shocked to see all of
the species. They immediately started moving there and making friends with some
of them. Some NeoPets were even adopted by the humans." Peopatra paused again.
"But then they started abusing Neopia. They stole baby NeoPets from their
mothers and built the Create a pet centre. They took food and medicine, and
charged prices of which no NeoPet could afford. And of course, when they got
bored of their pets, they put them in horrible pounds. Now the Kakabees weren't
very happy about this, this was their home, their friends, their creations.
They wanted to rebel, but they just weren't strong enough.
Then, when all seemed lost, a stranger holding a strange staff appeared. He
said he agreed with the Kakabees, that the humans were cruel, and needed to
be stopped.
He produced a small potion, and asked the kakabees to drink it. He said it
would make them stronger.
The leader of the Kakabee was against it, but many agreed, and took the potion.
Those that were afraid of it ran away with the leader. Then, all the Kakabees
who took the potion started to glow, and meld together. They realised to late
that the potion was evil. The stranger smiled, and when all of the Kakabees
had melded together, he jumped in the middle!" Peopatra stopped. Her audience
had moved so close that she could see the pores on Sunni's face. She moved them
back with her hooves.
"Please, give me some room," she complained, and began again.
"Suddenly the whole of Neopia shook. The sky glowed black, and all creatures,
human and NeoPet alike cowered with fear. When the merging was complete. A strange
creature stood in the clearing, clutching the Strangers Staff. Its name… was
Karooka."
Karooka smiled wickedly. He had tricked those stupid NeoPets into giving him
their knowledge and power. Now he would rule.
He first came to Neopia Central. The humans were puzzled, but the NeoPets
could sense the Kakabees in it. Karooka saw a Bloop in the Marketplace, and
pointed his staff at it. Suddenly, the Bloop mutated, and joined Karooka's side.
He did this with many Pets. But the Pets he chose are now PetPets. I'll tell
you why soon. Neopia was in chaos. Humans couldn't fight Kakabee, and NeoPets
couldn't get close unless they joined his minions and were mutated. The last
of the kakabee, (less than 10) watched from the woods. They were so sad that
their friends and world were to be destroyed. Just then, the head
Kakabee had an idea. Kakabees had an ability called Hope. No Kakabee had ever
used it, but now was as good a time as any. The Head Kakabee told its friends
to use Hope, and they began to glow, and transformed.
One of the Kakabee, the healer of the group, sprouted wings, and a scaly tail.
She became the water Faerie!
One by one, the remaining Kakabee all changed into Faeries. Some of them split
into hundreds of lights, and became smaller faeries. Then the Head Kakabee changed.
She became the Faerie queen. The Faeries flew over Neopia, and fought Kakabee.
The Faeries were strong, but inexperienced, and Karooka won easily.
"Ha ha! You really thought you could defeat me?" cried Karooka. Now you will
join my army!" The Faeries closed theirs eyes, expecting the worse. Karooka
pointed his staff, but before he could fire it, a little voice cried out,
"No!"
The Faeries and Karooka looked down at the brave creature that had defied
karooka. It was a little Jub Jub.
"I won't let you destroy them, they created Neopia," it cried. Then more NeoPets,
and even some humans ran in front of the Faeries. They were touched by the love
the NeoPets and humans had for them." Peopatra opened her eyes, only to find
that everyone was centimetres away from her face again.
"This is getting old," she grumbled as she pushed them away again, and continued.
"Karooka couldn't understand what was happening, and loosened the grasp on
his staff. The Battle Faerie noticed this, flew up, and kicked the Staff out
of his hand.
All the Faeries aimed their energy on it, and blew it to pieces! Since Karooka's
power came from the Staff, he too started to disintegrate. But before he did,
he created 50 potions containing his essence, and sent them all over Neopia.
When a creature opened one, it would become evil, and carry on Karooka's mission.
"The faeries tried to heal the mutated pets, and changed them back halfway.
They changed them back from mutations, but there was a problem. Their forms
were smaller, and they were as dumb as NeoPet babies." Peopatra took a Dazzlemint
breath. "That's the story of PetPets. When the dumber form reappeared in Neopia,
many NeoPets had them for Pets. And now some NeoPet or PetPet has taken the
potion. And now, he or she is calling all the PetPets to fight."
"But I was called here, and I'm not a PetPet" said Capara "So how does that
work?"
"Wait, didn't Dr. Sloth turn you into a Wadjet in the Lost Desert not that
long ago? Maybe you still have some Wadjet blood in you."
"Great, just what I want to think about," grumbled Capara.
"First things first, we have to find out who took the potion" suggested Peopatra.
Jackabenze nodded. "I think it's my friend Siquero. She was hit by a black
potion."
Suddenly, an evil voice spoke from all around. "Good work Jackabenze, but
are you right?" it taunted.
Just then, Peopatra, Capara, Sunni, and Jackabenze felt the ground disappear.
Looking down, they realised someone was teleporting them somewhere!
When he woke up in the darkened room, Jackabenze couldn't remember how he'd
got there. He remembered being teleported, but that was it. Sunni and the others
were beginning to wake up all around him too.
"Hey what's that?" asked Capara, pointing to something lying on the ground.
Jackabenze looked at it, and began to fill with dread. He ran towards it, shouting
"Siquero!"
Capara picked the beaten Shadowed Zafara up in her paws as Jackabenze ran
towards them. "What happened to you?" he asked. As Sunni and Peopatra ran towards
them, Siquero whispered, "I tried to take on the evil, but it's just too strong."
"But if she isn't controlled by Karooka, who is?" asked Peopatra.
"I am!" boomed the same voice Jackabenze and the others had heard earlier.
Suddenly, the whole room filled with light. Jackabenze was shocked to see
that the walls of the room were lined with PetPets. Following the line, the
group saw a huge chair. And in the chair was…
"No it can't be," Jackabenze whispered. "It just can't be."
