PET CENTRAL - This article is intended for new Neopians with four pets. People
with three or two pets may find it helpful or not, and people with one pet might
even enjoy it. As it is supposed to be for new members, please forgive me if
I sound at all patronising at any point - it most definitely wasn't intended.
Owning four Neopets myself I am often dismayed to see articles that condemn
'overpopulating' your account. It is widely believed that having only one pet
is most profitable. Well if you are only interested in the accumulation of money
or items in Neopets I suppose that is your choice and I'm sure having just the
one Neopet works very well. However I believe you would also be missing out
on a great deal of what Neopets is.
On my very first day in Neopets I was, as is expected, a little overwhelmed.
I spent quite a long time browsing the pictures of Neopets I could create.
After a while I returned to one of the earlier pages and chose a red Pteri for
its look of simplicity and cheekiness. Kobbarobba, my first pet was born.
Here I admit I should have first gotten used to the whole concept of Neopets
but I was hungry for more and the next day I adopted a cute Meerca from the
pound. The day after (or it might even have been the same day that I got the
Meerca, I forget) I pushed myself to the maximum limit of four with a majestic
Eyrie and a mysterious Peophin.
Having four pets made Neopets a little more difficult but it helped me develop
their characters - the thing I think is most important. Kobbarobba became cheeky,
coolo_grunda tomboyish, Crystalisaneo girl-y, Bluewingcha proud.
To survive those first few weeks someone with four pets should look to the
Soup Faerie. It only involves clicking the mouse a couple of times and all four
pets will be as full as you can get them ABSOLUTELY FREE.
Those first few days/weeks are crucial. Buy at least one toy and one grooming
item and keep your pets in shape. Once their mood is 'delighted' it can't go
any further and takes quite a long time of neglect for it to go down (if it
goes down at all - it's never happened to me but I do not know if that means
it happens or not.).
Okay so you don't stay with a balance of less than 2,000 NP for very long.
Don't panic. Keeping four pets will not drain your account NECESSARILY.
The daily freebies you can get throughout the site keep me and my four pets
sustained very well. Though it has been said MANY times before the daily (or
more often) things you can do to get free things such as food are, most importantly,
the OMELETTE. This feeds three of your four pets and I have found it invaluable.
The omelette can be found on the Tyrannian Plateau. You can access this by clicking
on the Explore button on the yellow sidebar, then on the Tyrannia icon on the
world map, and finally on the Tyrannian Plateau button on the top left corner
of the screen. The omelette will be there.
Other things to check out for food amongst other things would be the Tombola
in Mystery Island, the Fruit Machine and Coltzan's Shrine in the Lost Desert
and, if you have 100 NP you are prepared to risk, the Wheel of Excitement in
Faerieland.
These methods are all pretty unreliable. You can, if unlike me you have a fast
server, try to get freebies off the Money Tree but failing that BUY OMELETTES
to fill up your fourth pet (the others should be full from the free omelette
of the day).
Sure, you might think that buying something you can get for free is stupid,
but as it has three different parts to it you can feed all four of your pets
for free for two days after purchase. And because they are free usually, omelettes
found on the shop wizard search engine (click on the Shops icon on the yellow
sidebar, and then the wizards hat on the bar at the top of your screen) are
very, very cheap - around 15-30 NP for any of the normal omelettes - Carrot
and Pea Omelette, Green Pepper Omelette, Sausage Omelette or Bacon and Broccoli
Omelette.
Earning money should not be a problem this way so do not fret if you got yourself
four pets when you first started, and don't necessarily abandon the poor things
just yet. I advise to experiment for a while with the few things I suggested
with all your pets. If it still does not work for you then perhaps you should
get rid of one, or more than one of your pets. But remember that Neopets is
about fun, not profit.
If you found any of this, particularly that last bit, patronising or moralistic
or obvious sorry. If you need any more advice you may Neomail
me but I don't want my inbox all clogged up. Bye and happy Neopetting. |
