At Least It Might Be Good For Publicity

by turkeypen

"Come on, hurry up Mopo!" a yellow Kiko called out to her older brother impatiently, "It's time to go!"

"Coming Lani!" the Gelert replied, tugging his raincoat on.

He then trotted down the stairs, being careful that his blue paws didn't make him slip and fall down the stairs. He'd done it at least a couple times before, because of his natural clumsiness.

Finally reaching the bottom, he slipped on one of his boots. He watched as his little sister floated around the room, twirling with excitement, her bright pink raincoat twirling around like a Cotton Candy Tree blowing in the wind.

"All right," he said, pulling on his other boot, which made a flurping sound when he did so, "I'm ready to go." He stood up and smoothed the wrinkles out on his raincoat, which was as a cheerful yellow color.

"Yay!" Lani squeaked happily as she pulled on her hood and opened the door. The rain poured down as she went outside on the porch. Mopo, meanwhile, grabbed a red and blue umbrella from a basket by the door, since his coat didn't have a hood.

"Alright," Mopo said closing the door behind him and then opening his umbrella, "Let's go."

The two siblings then set off down Winding Wood Drive to the nearest bus stop, which was in Neopia Central. Mopo noticed, as he walked, the rain made a nice sound on his umbrella as it fell. Pit, pat, pitter, patter, plop. Lani hummed Mary had a Little Babaa happily as she floated along.

After a bit of walking, Mopo turned to Lani and asked, "Why are you so excited about going to the Wheel of Excitement? We go there usually every week."

"Because," she replied, "They've added a new triangle to the wheel. Nobody knows what it does yet except the person who made it. I was hoping we'd land on it. Maybe it'd give us millions of Neopoints, and then mom wouldn't have to work so much!"

Mopo nodded. He thought to himself nervously, Maybe it could give us Neopoints, but what if it gave us an incurable disease or took away every single one of our items, including the ones in the deposit box? I hope we don't get that new option. If it did give us Neopoints, though, that'd be really nice. Mom is always working at the plushie factory. I barely get to see her anymore! If we were rich, we might get to spend more time together. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to land on that new space. Considering this, Lani and himself continued walking down the dirt road.

Soon, they had reached Neopia Central. Despite the melancholy rain, people crowded the marketplace, which had a cheerful feeling to it. Pets and owners went from shop to shop, talking and laughing. Smells of fresh baked goods floated around, mixing with the smell of the damp rain. This resulted in a tantalizing aroma, which made Lani and Mopo very hungry.

"Mopo," Lani asked, tugging on her brother coat, "Can we go get something from the bakery?"

"Sure," he replied, "Luckily, I have enough Neopoints from playing Meerca Chase to buy something for both of us and a sandwich pack for lunch tomorrow."

The siblings then set off towards the small bakery on the corner of the street. It didn't take them more than a minute or two to get there. Opening the door, they stepped inside. Mopo closed his umbrella and Lani took off her hood.

The bakery was warm and welcoming, friendly customers filling it with cheer. It smelled so nice as Mopo and Lani stepped in that they thought they were in heaven. The shop was fully stocked. As soon as all the food would be bought, more food would come in an instant.

"Hold my hand so I won't lose you in the crowd," Mopo said to his little sister. He figured it would be extremely easy to lose a small Kiko with so many humans and Neopets around.

Lani nodded, smiling, and took his hand. They then walked to where all the goods were displayed with the prices.

Examining the goods, Mopo said to Lani, "How about I buy apple pie for us both to share now, and blueberry jam sandwiches for tomorrow's lunch."

Lani nodded happily, since she loved apple pie. "That'd be absolutely superbalistic!"

They then went up to the counter and bought the goods for a reasonable price. Taking their goods, they went to sit at a table in the corner of the shop to eat.

"So," Mopo said to Lani, sitting down, "The marketplace sure is busy today."

"Mmm-hmm" Lani replied, her mouth already full of pie. Swallowing her pie, she added, "I bet it's because of the rain. There's not much to do on rainy days."

"We though," Mopo piped up, "Do have something to do today. The Wheel of Excitement is waiting for us for after we finish this pie!"

The two Neopets then gobbled up the pie slice by slice hungrily till they were both satiated.

"Ugh," Lani sighed afterwards, "I can't eat another bite!"

Mopo nodded in agreement, and they then headed of to the Neopia Central bus stop. It was not long before they reached the stop, since everything was so close together in Neopia Central.

"Alright," Mopo exclaimed happily, "We're finally here!" He waited for Lani to respond, but she never did. "Uh-oh," he said to himself aloud. He looked to where the Kiko had been following. She wasn't there! "Oh no, she must have gotten lost!" So, he turned right back around towards the bakery and retraced his steps.

A while later, he found Lani calling worriedly for her older brother. "Mopo!" she cried out, tears brimming in her eyes, "Where are you?"

"Don't worry!" Mopo comforted her once he found her, "I'm right here!" He then took her hand and the two siblings set off once more to the bus stop.

Not long after, they reached the bus stop. To Mopo's relief, Lani was still clinging tightly to his paw. He looked up towards the bus schedule. In big, bold letters, it read: Faerieland- Leaving 1:30 NST "Perfect!" he thought to himself cheerfully, "We're right on time!"

Lani and he then went to buy a ticket for each of them at the ticket booth. Luckily, there was a different worker there than last week. Before, there was an old Skeith who couldn't here a word they were saying, no matter how much they yelled at him. They tried screaming in his ear and everything. This continued for quite some time until Lani noticed he had Fuzzie Bears stuck up both ears. Anyway, they successfully bought their tickets and headed for the bus.

Just as they boarded, Mopo's watch ticked one thirty. Handing their tickets to the bus driver, they went and sat down in a seat near the front of the bus. They then headed off to Faerieland, both wondering what that new space on the Wheel of Excitement would do.

Soon, they had arrived in the fluffy clouds of Faerieland. Stepping out of the bus, they looked around. Even though they came here so often, it was always a wonder each time they came. Faeries fluttered around everywhere, and there were thousands of pets sporting gossamer Faerie wings. Quickly passing the Healing Springs and Faerieland Petpet Shop, they finally reached the Wheel.

"Step right up for the Wheel of Excitement!" a young Light Faerie called out, "Win fabulous prizes and riches beyond belief!"

Mopo snorted at this claim. More times then not, you lost Neopoints or got yourself struck by lightning. Then, suddenly, something on the Wheel caught his eye. It was the new space! It was a beautiful glittering blue color with stars on it.

"Alright Lani," he said to his sister smiling, "It's your turn to spin the Wheel."

She smiled and nodded happily. Urging his sister on, Mopo, pushed the Kiko up to the Wheel of Excitement. She stepped up to the wheel.

"That will be one hundred Neopoints," a Light Faerie said as she snatched the Neopoints from Mopo's outstretched paw.

Mopo, smiling, turned to Lani and said, "Go on Lani! Win us one of those fabulous prizes that Faerie keeps yakking about!"

Lani grinned and stepped up to the Wheel. She then put her hands on it and gave it a whirl. For a Kiko, she was quite strong. The Wheel spun around and around, looking like it would never stop. Eventually, the Wheel slowed down. It slowed more and more, until it nearly reached the point of stopping. It was then Mopo realized something terrible! The needle was going to land on the Pant Devil!

Oh please, oh please, oh please, oh please!" Mopo mumbled nervously, "Don't land there! I just bought this sandwich pack, and I don't want some crummy Pant Devil taking it!"

The Wheel slowed to a stop. It landed on the Pant Devil space. Just then though, before the Light Faerie could announce it, a Faerie Kacheek flew into Mopo, knocking him against the Wheel.

"Ooof!" he said, falling flat on his face. With a quick apology, the Kacheek flew off into the sky once again.

When he turned to face his sister, he could see she was grinning from ear to ear.

"Why are you so happy?" he asked, "We just landed on the Pant Devil space."

"Nope," she replied excitedly, "Look!" She pointed upwards to the Wheel.

Mopo's eyes nearly popped out of his head when he looked. They had won ten thousand Neopoints!

"Congratulations!" the Light Faerie said cheerfully to them as they leapt with joy, "You have won ten thousand Neopoints!" She held out a bag of Neopoints to them, and they took it from her eagerly.

"Thank you so much!" Mopo thanked the Faerie. The two Neopets ran off to tell their owner that her job at the plushie factory would be no more! Even though it wasn't the mystery space, the two Neopets had gotten all they had wanted from the Wheel.

The Faerie waved after them. "Darn," she muttered to herself, her teeth fixed in a smile, "There goes ten thousand Neopoints Oh well, at least it might be good for publicity!"
