The Other Side of Neopia by blazewolfpup | |
THE OTHER SIDE - Everybody knows of the World of Neopia, the Explore map. Here,
you can go to any of the (currently) 11 worlds; Neopia Central, Mystery Island,
VirtuPets Space Station, Haunted Woods, Terror Mountain, Faerieland, Tyrannia,
Lost Desert, Krawk Island, the destroyed Maraqua, and the newest arrival, Meridell.
Most Neopians will know this map as well as I, visiting it at least once a day
- unless you know the exact address you're going to.
Anyway, time to cut to the chase. Have any of you ever wished there were more
worlds? More places to explore? Or, like me, have you noticed the diminishing
amount of room on the World on Neopia? Every time a new world is added, the
space is minimised... yet, there is only 11 worlds. 11? Only 11? Look at earth,
there are thousands... millions of cities and areas... and it is still big enough.
But why is Neopia so small? The answer is in the World itself. Where is the
other half?
Look at it. There's the world, with oceans and grasslands, forests and deserts,
islands and mountains. That's all we can see. Huh? What? Where is the other
side of it? It's just not there! Did a giant Grarrl eat it? Maybe destroyed
by Dr. Sloth, and one of his contraptions he may have hidden up in his space
station? Who knows? This puzzled me, and I decided to at least do some research,
as I guessed a lot, if only a small group, of Neopians would be wondering the
same as me. It's just illogical that it just would exist... would it? Then again,
lots of things about Neopets are illogical... with an even bigger headache than
before, and lots of thoughts running through my head, I decided to venture out,
planning on asking some Neopians about what they thought about it.
I decided to go first to the tiptop of Terror Mountain - it seemed that at
the top, they must be able to see over to the other side, right? Dodging a few
Snowballs thrown by pesky Blumaroos, I started to trek through the snow, shivering
slightly, even under my thick jacket and gloves. Just as my luck had it, a blizzard
started to blow around now. Scowling, I ran blindly forward, soon reaching an
Igloo, which had a sign outside that read 'Garage
Sale'. I headed inside, wanting to be out of the cold, before I stumbled
over two Chias dressed as Eskimos. "Mika - go up to the attic and fetch lots
more down! They are going like crazy!" one yelled to the other. I watched bemused,
as the one called Mika stumbled upstairs to grab some more objects. I turned
to the other, who was looking anxiously at me. "Wish to buy something?" he asked
me. I shook my head; "Actually, I was wanting an interview for The Neopian Times."
The Chia nodded, gesturing towards two chairs. Sitting down, I took out my pen
and notepad.
Me (Ruby): So, anyway, Mr...
Carassa: It's Carassa.
Ruby: Anyway... I was curious to know if you knew about the other side
of the World of Neopia. Do you know anything?
Carassa: The what?
Ruby: The other side of the world. You know, what's on the other side
of your Mountain.
Carassa: Oh! Oh, no. We can't see over the mountains - and they're
too high and dangerous for anyone around here to climb or fly over. Sorry, but
would you like to buy anything?
Sighing, I left the Igloo, a Large Splime Slushie in my hand that I had just
bought from the two Chias. On the walk down the mountain, another idea had come
to mind - The Uber-Faeries know lots! They would know about it! Grinning despite
the cold, I planned to search around for a Faerie to talk to.
For the next few days, I explored tirelessly around Neopia, but sadly, no
sight of the Uber-Faeries. About to give up, I leaned against a tree in the
Tyrannian Jungle, before a sound made me look up. In front of me, floated an
Air Faerie! "Can you find my Red Blush? I seem to have lost it..." I nodded,
and she turned to leave, before I stopped her. "Wait! Do you mind an interview?"
Shrugging, she turned back. "But make it quick."
Ruby: Since you Faeries are so smart and such, I was wondering if you
could tell me and other Neopians something.
Air Faerie: Well? Spit it out! I have things to do, like putting my
makeup on! And where's my Red Blush I asked you to get?
Ruby: Er, I'll get it in a minute. Before I do that, could you tell
me anything you know about the other side of the World? You know, what we all
can't see or go to?
Air Faerie: Oh, that. Well, it's classified information, really. Until
the Neopets Staff releases any information publicly, or says we can tell you,
it's a secret. Now, where's my Red Blush already?!?!
Groaning to myself, I rushed off back to Neopia Central, with the Air Faerie
yelling at me for wasting her time. While waiting in line with a Red Blush in
my hand, I started to jot down all that I knew about the other side of the world,
which was practically nothing. Throwing the Red Blush to the Air Faerie, I headed
to Mystery Island, hoping that I could have some peace to write.
Upon arriving, I leaned against a palm tree, and watched the sunset, trying
to concentrate. After I had written 2 sentences, I was interrupted by one of
the Island Natives - One of the things that look like a coconut.
Tiki: What are you writing about?
Ruby: The other side of the world of Neopia.
Tiki: Hm… any good ideas?
Ruby: Not really that much...
Tiki: Can I add something?
Ruby: Sure! What?
Tiki: Here at Mystery Island, we're really close to the edge. When
we try to look down there, it's like a weird barrier that makes it impossible
to see. Maybe the Neopets Team is doing something down there we aren't supposed
to see?
Ruby: HM… good point… but wouldn't the Faeries know?
Tiki: No! They know as much as you. Anyway, I have to go now.
The Tiki fellow toddled off then, heading home. I scribbled what it said on
my paper, realising how it made sense, well, slightly anyway. Going back home,
I realised that thinking about this made me as confused as when I was talking
with my friend about Time-Space Continuum - but that's another story. But, I
thought to myself, At least you won't be stuck at home reading old editions
of The Neopian Times now.
Thanks for reading, and Neomail
me with any other ideas for other articles, although I do have quite a few ideas
already... anyway, bye for now! |
