The Great Tyrannian Robbery!

Renee the starred Shoyru laughed and crumpled up the message. "I don't have time for this! And I'm not an investigator in the first place! These police Chias aren't getting any smarter. No wonder Lupes eat them." Renee laughed and threw away the letter. Oh, and she didn't mean it about that Lupe remark.

Later that evening, Renee's daughter, Corie the speckled Shoyru was dragging the garbage outside to the curb. The garbage was very heavy and she was very tired so she just dragged it. She wasn't watching where she was going and she tripped over one of vvw's yard gnomes. Vvw, their "owner", loved her yard gnomes. She thought they had magic powers. Even though she's crazy we're not here to debate the magic gnomes. Corie stood and groaned. The garbage bag had torn on the gnome's pointy hat. Garbage was all over the lawn. She knew vvw would be angry so she started to clean it up. She was pulling tiny pieces of coffee grins out of the grass when something white caught her eye. She picked up the paper and read it.

"Wow! Someone stole the giant omelette! This is a perfect chance to be a superhero!" Corie quickly cleaned up the garbage and raced inside. She ran up to her room and put on her black cloak. Then, being sure not to get burnt by Teri's fire bush she jumped out the window and flew to her friend Mike's house.

Corie flew in threw the open window and landed quietly. She looked around the room. Mike wasn't there. She took off her cloak's hood, revealing her face. She sighed. Serpentine, his Cobrall slithered up to her and hissed warmly. "Hey Sipp!" Corie picked him up and tried to pet him but he slithered up her arm.

She giggled and put Sipp down. She heard someone coming up the stairs so she dove out the window into a tree. Malyphist, who preferred to be called Mike, the shadowed Shoyru came into his room followed by Min (FramboiseNoire), his annoying clouded Kacheek sister. After he had forced her out of the room Corie flew in the open window.

"Hey! I got a great mission for us!" she said scaring him a bit.

"What?" he asked catching his breath.

"Someone's stolen the Giant Omelette Egg!" Corie said.

"It's probably those Aisha bandits again."

Corie shook her head and threw him the note she had found in the garbage. "Read it," she said.

After having read the note Mike stood up. "Hmm, those Aisha's aren't hard to find. I guess were going to Tyrannia but we got to be home early. Dekkir's is getting angry that I'm always so tired in the morning!" Dekkir (Dekkirio) was Mike's older sister. She was a green Aisha. She was a detective and very good at her job. Mike shooed Corie out of the room as he changed. Only Corie and Min knew every night quiet little Mike became the Cloaked Shadow! A super hero whom watches over Neopia and keeps it safe from all danger! There have been more then one news articles about him and most people thought he was a lunatic. For example, Dekkir was out to find him on her spare time.

After Mike had changed into his black cloak and black and white mask they flew to Tyrannia. They were lucky to get out of the house before Min started to complain about coming. When they got their there were so many people it was amazing. It looked like every pet, person and petpet had come. Corie gasped. "We'll never get anything done with so many people! We got to think of something!" So the sat in a tree thinking of something to do.

Finally, after about half an hour Corie got an idea. "Hey! What if we get the Faerie Queen down here to get rid of them all!" she said.

"How are we going to get the Faerie Queen down here?" Mike asked.

Corie smiled. "She owes me a few favours." It was true. Corie and Mike had saved the Faerie Queens life a number of times and Renee had saved her so many times it's hard to count! But the Faerie Queen didn't appreciate it much. Corie rolled up her sleeve and turned on her two-way watch.

"Now just tap into the phone line over there... Collect call... From... Renee! Hello, Fyora! We need a favour! Could you get all the people out of Tyrannia? We want to do an investigation of the area to find out who stole the giant egg... No, I'm sorry ma'am. Your missing lipstick doesn't count as a case.... All right! If we solve this mystery and you get the people out of here we'll find your lipstick! Thank you!" Corie turned off her watch and smiled. Within fifteen minutes Fyora came and using her wand brought everyone there to Faerieland to hear stories of the Faerie Queens success.

Everyone there except one green Aisha. Dekkir had been in a cave question a Pteri when the Faerie Queen had come and wasn't brought. Corie and Mike swooped down and looked around. The letter was right. Only Pteri tracks and Chomby foot prints. No thing out of the ordinary.

"A Tyrannian wouldn't steal the egg! They are very proud of their culture and exceedingly proud of the egg!" Corie sighed. "Who ever it was is very good at covering their tracks."

Mike looked over the list of suspects. "It's not the bandits. Brucey B is out of town this week for the big Cheat tournament."

"Link is too stupid," Corie added. Link was her uncle, Renee's brother. He was a small green Shoyru and a super dumb, super criminal.

"As for Adam I don't think he needs to steal it. He could create his own," Mike piped in. Corie sighed looked closer in the mud. Nothing!

A small red Pteri flew overhead in a hurry. "Wonder what's wrong with her?" Corie asked watching the Pteri.

"Oh no! Look!" Mike pointed to the cave Dekkir was running out of.

"Stop! You're under arrest for grand theft egg and endangering yourselves and others," she shouted waving handcuffs over her head. Corie flew into the air but Mike stayed on the ground.

"What's wrong?" Corie asked.

"She's too close! We'll never be able to get far!"

Corie grabbed him and flew as fast as she could but Mike was right and they were caught.

"Well! I finally caught you! Hmm, there are two? That's twice as good! You're under arrest too!" She slapped handcuffs onto Corie.

"Oh geez!" Corie said in a weird voice so Dekkir wouldn't recognise it.

"Now to see who you really are!" Dekkir reached for Mike's mask.

"Forgive me Dekkir," Corie said forgetting to disguise her voice.

She quickly used her tail and tripped Dekkir. Dekkir fell in the mud and they flew away as fast as they could.

After they hid in a tree and got the handcuffs off they decided to visit the Pteri Queen. But, much to their dismay she had nothing they didn't already know. "Hey, What about Sabre-X?" Mike said. "He guards the egg! If anyone knows anything it'd be him!" They flew to Sabre-X.

"Ugga ooh! Oog ugga!"

Corie sighed. "Please! In English!"

Sabre-X sighed. "I'm sorry. It's just this has been the five hundredth time I've been interviewed today! And I almost lost my job!"

Corie took out a notebook. "So, can you tell us what happened?" Mike asked.

"Well, I was waiting around after the egg had been delivered when I saw something in the bushes. I looked around but saw nothing. Finally I saw a red Chia. Being a Lupe I tried my best to ignore my hunting instincts and offered the Chia so omelette. The Chia just ran. I couldn't figure out why until; a saw a very beautiful white Lupess. She smiled her pearly teeth and asked me to help her." Sabre-X sighed. "She had been wounded so I carried her to the nearest hospital. When I got back the egg was gone. I was just trying to help the young girl. I had no idea the egg would be stolen."

They thanked Sabre-X and left.

"Maybe we should visit the girl he said was in the hospital?" Corie asked.

"Don't look now but here comes trouble!" Mike pointed to Dekkir running up the hill.

"I'm not going to let you get away this time!"

Corie gulped. "I surrender. We give in," Corie said.

"WHAT!?" Mike yelled.

"Shh, I got a plan!" Corie whispered.

She held her arms out. Dekkir handcuffed her, a smug look on her face. "About time you lunatics surrendered to the law!" Corie was smiling under her cloak but no one could see.

"Ready?"

"Ready for what?" Dekkir asked.

"Nothing... FLY!" Corie yelled and the both flew away.

Dekkir screaming at them.

After Corie had her handcuffs off they looked at the plateau again. Nothing new.

"Uh oh," Mike said.

Corie looked at her watch. It was four in the morning. "I should be in bed now!"

"Don't worry! Dekkir's not going to know!" Mike nodded but suddenly smiled.

"Hey! Quick! Into a bush!" He pulled Corie into a bush as The Pteri Queen came with the morning's egg. Since the area was off limits to everyone in the morning so not the scare away the Pteri queen, She put the egg down and rested a bit before moving on. "Soon we'll see who stole the egg!"

No one came for a long time. At about four thirty Corie saw some movement outside bush. "Hey, look!" she whispered to Mike. He sat up and looked around. They slowly crawled out of the bushes just in time to see the egg rolling away. "Hey!" Corie shouted. At that the egg started to fly away. No one could see who it was.

And so it went like that for days and days. Still, no one had the slightest idea who it was. On the 12th day of relaxing Corie and Mike were out there again. At four thirty, the usual time, the bushes rattled and Corie heard the trap the had set go off. She smiled and went out to see whom they caught. No one. They had escaped. Corie cursed under her breath. Not only have they been failing for nine days straight but they were tired and this criminal was certainly smart.

The next day at four twenty five they prepared to jump out of the bush as soon as the slightest noise was made. At four twenty nine they heard the snapping of twigs and jumped out to see nothing but a small Pteri. Corie sighed and started into the bush when she looked at the Pteri. It was Corie's "Aunt" Teri, a very highly wanted criminal.

"Teri! You've been stealing the eggs!?"

Teri shook her head. "I'm not stealing! My friend lays these eggs every day and you cannibals let it crack and boil and eat it every day! We'll I say no more! My friends deserve to let their offspring be born and not scrambled!"

Corie and Mike stood there, mouths wide open. "But Teri, what about all the starving pets? Ones too poor to buy food?" Mike asked.

"They can eat something else other then my friends!" Teri yelled down to them.

"But even you eat meat! Isn't that cannibalism?" Corie asked.

Teri shook her head. "They weren't forced to be given up by their mother to keep her safe!"

"But Teri!" Corie shouted, "You've stolen the eggs too! You stole them from the people of Tyrannia!"

Teri laughed. "I returned them to their mother!"

"Who's that?" Mike asked.

Teri shook her head. "She'd be angry if I told you."

Corie sighed and started to climb onto the egg. "Come one Teri! The sun will rise soon! The egg will hatch and boil! That's what happens. It's nature!" Teri shook her head. Mike started to climb onto the egg. "But it is!"

"Is it natural to eat someone's friends? I think not!" Teri said. "And further more," Teri wasn't given a chance to finish because Dekkir came running over.

"STOP! IN THE NAME OF THE LAW!" she cried. Teri, whom had a police record a mile long jumped up.

"You? You're all they sent!? I've squished bigger flightning bugs than you! Go back to school little girl, your facing the real world!" Teri said bravely.

Dekkir blew her top. "YOU'RE ALL COMING WITH ME!" She slapped handcuffs on Corie and Mike and started to climb after Teri. Teri laughed at her again and began to walk backwards in place. Corie and Mike just stared. "What's she doing?" Mike asked. Corie shrugged but soon they saw, the egg started to roll.

It would hurt Dekkir if they didn't do something and if they did there was the risk of being exposed! 'What would mum do?' She thought for a second of what Renee would do then picked the lock at Mike's and her own handcuffs.

"You get Dekkir off of there! I'll stop Teri!" she called.

Mike nodded and ran for Dekkir. He tried prying her off of the egg but it didn't work. By that time they were almost touching the ground and both were too tired to climb any further. Mike's feet touched the ground and he tried to hold up the egg with all his might. He looked below him at the steep cliff dropping into the Jungle below. He wouldn't be able to hold it for long and with Dekkir screaming and Teri pushing the egg it wasn't getting any lighter.

Corie had jumped on top of the egg with Teri while Mike had been at the bottom holding it. She had tried tackling Teri but Teri was too strong and just pushed her away. Corie tried talking to her but there wasn't enough time. Corie was on the edge of tears. She was hungry and tired and wanted to go home. She was tired of coming here day after day and never getting an ounce of sleep. "I WANNA GO HOME!" she yelled at Teri. Teri didn't care. Corie finally started to cry. She had tried everything! She had tried reasoning, force and pleading. She had even tried to bribe Teri but nothing worked.

"Fine Teri!" she said threw her tears. "Fine! You win! It's just an egg!"

Teri got mad. "IT'S NOT JUST AN EGG!" Teri began to roll the egg back to its spot on the plateau.

When the egg moved Mike lost his balance and began to fall. He would have fallen and been injured and maybe even badly injured if Dekkir had not been there. She grabbed the sleeve of his cloak and pulled him up onto the Plateau.

"I can't turn you in if your dead," she said pulling him up.

She tried to hide her smile. "It's not everyday one of Teri's minions saves me from an egg."

Mike started to smile. "Now hold out your hands! You're going down town!" Mike sighed and jumped off the cliff, spreading his wings and flying back to where Teri and Corie were.

Corie and Teri sat on the egg arguing. Corie sighed. She had no idea what to do! She needed help. But she didn't want to have to ask for it. The harder she tried to get Teri to see the other side of the argument the better argument Teri made. "Face it Corie! I'm not giving up this egg! There's only one person in the world who could make me do that! And that's the egg's mother!"

"What about vvw?" Corie asked.

Teri just laughed. "Fyora?"

"That spoiled brat doesn't even tire her own shoelaces!" Corie was running out of ideas. "What about mum?"

"I already said vvw is a puny insane baby!"

Corie shook her head. "No my mom! Renee!"

Teri sat there. Thinking. The sun began to rise.

Mike came flying onto the egg. "Hey! What'd I miss?" Teri just sat there.

Both of the Shoyrus watched her. "Well, if Renee were here..." Teri stood up.

"That's not fair Corie. I'll get you for this! Trust me! No one, and I mean no one makes me change my opinion. NO ONE! But, the starving pets need food, I can't believe I just said that, and I have other robberies to make. I can't spend all my time robbing one place! My friend has nine of her eggs back. She'll be happy for a long time."

Teri jumped into the air. "Now you two better get out of here!" Teri flew away. Then they realised how hot the egg was getting with the rising sun and jumped off just as the shell cracked, spilling gooey egg all over the plateau.

"I've got you now!" Dekkir shouted.

Corie and Mike both picked up hand fills of omelette and threw them at Dekkir. She wiped the omelette off her face as people came running over. They jumped into the air to avoid being stepped on. Cameras went off and people cheered. "Uhh, let's get out of here. I don't like my picture taken." Corie said and they both flew off.

"Well, we solved the great Tyrannian robbery," Corie said cheerfully as they flew home.

Mike nodded. Both of them stopped by the park and changed out of their costumes.

"I've got to get a mask," Corie said. "But my cloak is just as fun!"

Mike laughed and the started to fly again. "Too bad Teri's friend had to lose her eggs just to keep peace between her and the Tyrannians," Mike said.

Corie nodded. "Who do you think her friend was anyway?" Mike asked.

Corie sighed. "It was that beast. The one that lives in that lair on top of the plateau. I see her go there all the time. I certainly don't want anymore of those in Neopia!"

Mike nodded.

Corie opened the door to her NeoHome and blacked out. A long while later she heard her mother's voice.

"Well, it's about time you woke up! I've been worried sick! But I'm proud of you! You finally caught Teri."

Corie opened her eyes. Renee was sitting on the edge of her bed. "How long was I out?" Corie asked sleepily.

"Oh about two days. You must be hungry! I'll make you some soup."

Renee got up and left the room and Teri came in. She sat on the edge of her bed.

"Sorry about the egg thing. I guess I should have thought about what the others thought."

Corie smiled. "So you feel bad for the hungry pets?"

Teri laughed. "Heck no! I was talking about my friend! She didn't mind giving the eggs! She doesn't have time to raise children! So she donated the eggs I brought back to her to the money tree! Hope you feel better soon!" Teri got up and ran out of the room. I put my head down for a bit.

Renee came in with the soup a little later. "Mom, did you hear from Mike?"

Renee shook her head. "No, but his sister Dekkir called a number of times. Mike was out for a while too. Oh, and look at this." Renee threw her a newspaper. "Every newspaper in Neopia has printed a different story about you and Mike! And these reports won't go away! But it'll all blow over in a little bit. And don't worry, no one knows it was you and Mike saving the egg. They're just here to squeeze a story out of Teri. Now, get some sleep! Oh! And don't worry... the found Fyora's lipstick for you!"

Corie fell asleep.
