It was a quite, Saturday afternoon. Aura and LittleMist were arguing over whose
turn it was to watch TV while MoeGirl tried to teach Piccoro how to fly. As
for me, mystery03, I was just sleeping on the sofa. That's when a knock at the
door woke me up. As usual, I got kind of nervous. Why? Well, my NeoHome is in
the Haunted Woods, and all sorts of weirdos are always showing up at my doorstep.
Like this one time, a group of rock star mummies asked me if they could stay
at my place for a few days. Of course, I said no, and in return, they cursed
me! And let me tell you, this curse was pretty nasty… but that's another story.
Anyway, I went to the door and nervously opened it. When I saw who it was,
I gasped. Standing in the doorway was… me!
The kid in the doorway looked just like me. I started to get a little scared.
"Who…are you?" I asked.
My look-alike just stared at me and laughed.
"You mean you don't know?" he said. "Why…I'm your twin."
"My twin?" I asked. I don't even have a twin! I had a strong feeling he was
bluffing.
"Yes," my supposed twin said. "I'm your twin. We were separated at birth.
For years, I've been tracking you down. I'm surprised you weren't told. I was
told on my 12th birthday. I knew I had to find you. I want to ask you something."
It was at about this time that aura and LittleMist approached me. They were
about to ask me who they thought should watch TV. However, they stopped dead
in their tracks when they saw my "twin".
"Mystery," aura asked . "Who's he?"
"Aura, LittleMist," I muttered, "Let me talk. I'll explain all soon."
"Yes," said my "twin", "An explanation. You must want me to explain. My name
is the same as your name: Mystery. We were separated at birth because Mom couldn't
take care of both of us. She chose to keep you, and I was put up for adoption."
He paused to let this information sink in. At this point, a memory appeared
in the back of my mind. It was a memory of my mom telling me about my brother…I
was about five years old…but the memory was hazy and unclear. Now I realised
that the kid before me really was my twin. But what did he want? He said he
was going to ask me something.
"As for why I'm here," my twin continued, "I'm here to ask you to join me
in my quest for world domination. You see, I was angry when I learned Mom abandoned
me. So angry, I decided to team up with Dr. Sloth. It wasn't easy to get a spot
in Sloth's army, but when Sloth saw how determined I was to do evil, he let
me be his right hand man. Next to Garoo, of course. He also gave me four unstoppable
Neopets to help me carry out his wishes. So, how about it? Want to join me?"
I laughed. He was joking, right?
"I have no intention of taking over the world," I said.
"Do you think this is a joke?" he asked. "Well…it's not. Join me or else you'll
regret it!"
"I will NOT join you," I said defiantly. "Please leave, Mystery."
I started to close the door, but Mystery put his arm in the way. His eyes were
full of anger.
"Well, because you rejected my offer…" he said coldly. "I must ask you to
call me The Almighty Master of Mutants! MM_Moehog, MM_Usul, MM_Blumaroo, and
MM_Elephante, your master summons you! ATTACK!!!"
Out of nowhere, a mutant Moehog, a mutant Usul, a mutant Blumaroo, and a mutant
Elephante appeared behind my twin and started to push open the door I was trying
to close. They were trying to come in the house to attack me! LittleMist and
aura started to panic and scream, which got the attention of MoeGirl and Piccoro.
They saw what was happening and wanted to fight the mutant pets. After coming
to their senses, aura and LittleMist decided to fight too.
"Uggh," I said as I pushed the door I was trying to shut at full force, "Go...
ahead…teach those mutants a lesson!"
With that, I gave up on the door and let my evil visitors come into the house.
My twin just shook his head in disgust.
"I already told you," he declared, "That these pets are unstoppable! But you
have to find out the hard way, don't you?"
"My pets can take them!" I shouted.
"Go ahead and try!" He said. "MM_Blumaroo! Use your Spook attack!"
I watched as the mutant Blumaroo's body started to glow with dark light. He
opened his mouth and a dark shadow emerged from it. The shadow floated over
to my pets and started to grow into the shape of the Grim Reaper. It had what
looked like a reaper in its hands. The shadow raised its reaper and slashed
at MoeGirl. MoeGirl let out a tiny squeak as the colour drained from her body.
She then fell on the floor, either unconscious or…dead.
"No!" I yelled. "Why'd you destroy MoeGirl?"
"My pets won't kill your pets…yet." My twin said. "MoeGirl is just unconscious.
Now…MM_Moehog! Attack with Nightmare!!!"
MM_Moehog also opened its mouth. It shot a ray of dark light at Piccoro. Piccoro's
eyes blanked over. He started to shriek and run around in circles. Then he suddenly
stopped and slumped to the ground.
I started to wonder how my twin's pets knew such powerful attacks. Sloth must
have taught them all his dirty tricks! I started to worry. Would LittleMist
and aura be able to withstand the powerful attacks?
"MM_Usul!" Mystery yelled to his Usul, "Attack with Possess!"
MM_Usul's fur started to turn black. After her whole body had turned black,
she looked like the Shadow Usul. If I didn't know any better, I think she was
the Shadow Usul! MM_Usul then started to chant in some strange language. I gulped.
What was going to happen? I got the answer to my question as I saw LittleMist's
body start to punch itself!!!
"What's happening to…me…" LittleMist screamed as he knocked himself out.
"Poor LittleMist, that fool…" Mystery said.
"Be quiet!" I yelled.
Aura knew he was next, so he unleashed his Grand Lightning Beam on MM_Elephante.
MM_Elephante didn't even flinch!
"What nerve you have," my twin said. "And the best is yet to come…MM_Elephante!
Use your dark explosion attack on the robot Kacheek!"
"No!" I yelled. "Not aura!!!"
MM_Elephante raised one of his many arms and shot out a huge ball of dark energy
at aura. The ball hit aura full on and sent him flying against one of the walls
of the NeoHome It smashed into pieces. Luckily, aura only had a few bruises.
His screen was also smashed and he was knocked out.
Suddenly, my blood started to boil. This evil twin of mine had knocked out
my Neopets and caused damage to my NeoHome! I needed to teach him a lesson!
"Mystery!" I yelled angrily. "Put up your dukes! I'll make you pay for what
you did to my pets!"
My twin chuckled. "I don't fist fight," he said. "But I'll let you fight my
servants!" He turned towards the four mutants. "All of you! Attack!"
The last thing I remembered before I was knocked out cold was a wall of dark
light hitting me and then feeling pain. Excruciating pain.
When I awoke, I saw myself next to my Neopets They were still knocked out.
I surveyed my surroundings, because I saw I was not in my NeoHome anymore. I
was on some sort of a cliff. I looked off the edge of the cliff. I couldn't
see the ground, just an endless black hole…
"Admiring the site of your death?" a voice behind me asked.
I turned around and saw my twin with a malicious grin on his face.
"What do you mean?" I asked him.
He chuckled. "You and your measly pets will be thrown off that cliff to your
death!"
I moaned. No... it couldn't end this way! That's when I heard my pets start
to awaken.
"Ahh…" said my twin. "Now we can proceed!"
Suddenly, Mystery's four mutant pets appeared behind him. Mystery turned towards
them.
"Servants, throw these pitiful beings off the cliff." He said.
The mutants started to surround me and my pets. I looked up at the sky, trying
in vain not to think about the sight before me. The sky didn't seem to help,
though. There were storm clouds, which didn't cheer me up.
"I'm too young to die!" shouted Piccoro.
I had to come up with a plan. I had to protect my pets. Unfortunately, before
I could think of anything, MM_Elephante picked me up along with my other pets.
He slowly slithered over to the edge of the cliff. My pets were hanging their
heads. They were accepting defeat. I was about ready to give up as well.
"It would take a miracle to save us." I thought.
MM_Elephante stopped. He was at the cliff's edge. He raised his arms. He was
about to chuck the five of us off the cliff when a bolt of lightning ripped
through the sky. A split second later, a crash of thunder filled the air.
MM_Elephante froze. He still had us in his arms, but he wasn't dropping us.
I looked up at his face, and saw he had a frightened expression!
"NO!" my twin yelled. "Not thunder! It's the only thing my servants fear!"
I looked at the other mutants. They, too, seemed to be frozen with fear.
Suddenly, I saw another bolt of lightning. But this time, I saw it strike the
cliff, just two feet behind MM_Elephante! I watched in horror as the cliff started
to crumble. Suddenly, I felt myself falling. But before I fell, I saw the other
three mutant pets run up to MM_Elephante and try to pull him back onto the solid
ground, but MM_Elephante was too heavy. They fell with us.
Now, you're probably thinking, if I died, how am I telling you all this? Well,
I didn't die. Fortunately, MM_Elephante released his grip on me and my pets.
Thinking quickly, I grabbed onto MoeGirl. She is a faerie Moehog, after all,
and I thought she might have been able to fly me out of there. Luckily, Piccoro,
aura, and LittleMist had the same idea. It was a good thing MoeGirl's strong.
Still, she barely had enough energy to make it back up to where my evil twin
was. After we were back on solid ground, she collapsed from exhaustion. I was
relieved that my pets and I were alive and well. But my twin's pets…they weren't
so lucky. I walked up to my twin. He just glared at me with eyes full of hate.
"I should've had a mutant that could fly, like a Shoyru or something!" he
yelled to himself.
Suddenly, a huge explosion erupted from the pit where the four mutant pets
had fallen. I turned and saw a huge flash of light.
"What is that?" I thought.
My question was soon answered when I saw the four mutant pets emerge from the
pit!
"You're all alive?" said my twin.
"Yes…" MM_Elephante answered, slowly with a voice of fatigue. "Because Sloth
trained us, we do not easily get harmed. However…" his voice trailed off.
"We were drained of our power when we hit the ground!" MM_Usul finished. "There
was a pool of lava down there. All four of us landed in it, and all four of
us lost almost all of our strength!"
My twin growled in disgust.
"You'll need to undergo rigorous training when we get back to our base," he
said to the mutants. "All of you!!"
He looked at me; his eyes full of hate. "I'm not through with you yet," he
said to me. "I will return to finish you off!"
After uttering these words, he and his pets just vanished before my eyes. I
blinked to make sure I wasn't dreaming, and when I opened my eyes, I found myself
back at my NeoHome I thought it might have all been a dream, but then I felt
LittleMist tug at my shirtsleeve.
"Mystery…" he said in a worried tone, "Do you think we've seen the last of
that Master of Mutants?"
I looked at LittleMist. He seemed so scared, but I couldn't lie to him.
"No," I said. "I think this encounter was just the beginning…"
