A month or so later…
Mystic awoke slowly Monday morning. "Get up, Mystic.
You're going to be late. Look, Sunshine's already here!" a voice overhead said.
Mystic's eyes opened and she saw Ashley.
"What Ashley? What is it?"
"It's your first day at your new school!" Ashley
smiled.
"WHAT?!" screamed Mystic. She was fully awake
now and was putting on her uniform. She rushed out of the bedroom and grabbed
a slice of toast. She popped it in her mouth and ran to get her stuff. Sunshine
was waiting in the living room. Mystic rushed into the living room and grabbed
Sunshine.
"There you are Mystic! Another minute more and
you'd be late for school!" Sunshine exclaimed.
"Hey Sunshine! How was your summer?" one of
Sunshine's friends, Achi, asked as she sat down with Mystic.
"It was great!" Sunshine replied to her Christmas
Acara friend. "Who's your new friend?"
Another one of Sunshine's friends, Choco, inquired,
"This is Mystic; she's one of my newest friends!" Sunshine answered the brown
Cybunny. Mystic turned her head to face Sunshine and her two other friends.
"Uh, correction; I'm an acquaintance."
"Don't worry Mystic; we'll make you feel at
home," Achi said.
Mystic looked down at her schedule and read
it out loud to Sunshine. "First period is math, second period is English, third
period is history, fourth period is science, fifth period is gym, sixth period
is lunch, seventh period is art, and eighth period is reading."
Sunshine squealed with joy; "No way! That's
my same schedule, too! This is great; I can help you by finding classes!"

"Wow Sunshine! That was actually very fun! I still can't believe I made the
winning goal during gym class!" Mystic thought of the Gormball game they had
that day. "You want to come over to my house and do our homework together, or
something?" Sunshine suggested hopefully.
Mystic shrugged. "Okay, I'll be over in a minute."
She walked into the house, made of the poor material, and changed into some
casual clothes.
She strolled across the street and up to Sunshine's
house. Her paw gently tapped the wooden door. It opened up slowly after a few
moments, revealing Zambie. "Oh, hello Mystic. Are you here to study with Sunshine?"
she questioned. Mystic nodded her head. "Well, Melody asked her to step out
and get some milk from the store. She'll be back in a few minutes, I suppose.
Here, why don't you come on in?" Zambie stepped to the side of the doorway,
allowing Mystic to step in. "Make yourself at home Mystic!"
Across the hall, Mystic spotted an old, worn
out looking door. There was a sign tapped to the front. Mystic read it to herself:
'Sunshine's Room'. Thinking Sunshine wouldn't mind, Mystic carefully opened
the door. The door made an awful sounding creek as she pushed it open. She switched
on the light and looked around at the small room. Sunshine's bed was a little
bigger than hers, but it was still old-looking. Just then, something caught
Mystic's eye. She turned around and saw that a brightly coloured calendar was
hanging on the pale white wall. It was on the current month: the month of Storing.
Mystic liked to look at the pictures on calendars, so she started to flip the
pages. It landed on the month of Giving. There was a big red circle drawn around
one of the days. Mystic shrugged and began to read it. In big red letters it
read: MY ONE YEAR BIRTHDAY!! Mystic was shocked that her new acquaintance had
not even told her about this. She quickly looked at the day of the month. It
was the 15th of the month of Giving; exactly one month until Sunshine's birthday.
What am I going to get her? Mystic hastily thought. We're too poor
to get anything worth a gift for her! Then again, I'm not even friends with
her, so why should I get her something? Just then, the door swung open and
Sunshine walked in.
"Sorry I kept you waiting, Mystic! I think Zambie
told you where I was, right?" Mystic swirled around rapidly. "Oh… yes… she did."
"Well then, let's get started on that homework!"
It was finally Friday and school would come
out in just a few moments. Mystic eyed the clock with anticipation. The hand
of the clock hit three and the bell rang. Everyone rushed out of the classroom
with plans of weekend fun.
Mystic was eating breakfast that Saturday morning
when she heard a knock on the door. Who could that be? Mystic thought.
She opened up the door to see someone leave a lottery ticket with a note that
said, "Why not go play?" Mystic shrugged and walked back on in the house, closing
the door with a loud bang.
"Who was that Mystic?" Ashley asked as she strolled
into the tiny kitchen. "Oh, we got a lottery ticket; big whoopie." Mystic handed
the ticket to her owner.
"Hmm… just for fun, I think I'll go and play."
Ashley reassured her pet. "Why don't you and Sunshine get together again today
and go out to town? You guys can window-shop and just chat."
"Alright, I'll go over to her house now and
get her." Mystic walked right out of the kitchen, out of the living room, and
across the street where she got Sunshine to come out and play.
While Ashley was out playing the lottery, Mystic
and Sunshine were out walking around the town. The weather was pretty cold that
one fine Saturday morning. The two Neopets decided to go buy a nice warm, cozy
jacket from the discount clothing store, which was across the street.
While walking there, Sunshine spotted some rich
Faerie coloured Neopets giggling and talking amongst themselves. Sunshine just
stopped walking and gazed upon their beautiful large wings. What a pleasure
it must be being painted Faerie! She thought.
Mystic snapped Sunshine out of her dream. "What's
gotten into you Sunshine?"
Sunshine sighed before she replied to Mystic's
question. "Oh Mystic! Did you see those Faerie pets? They are so beautiful!
All I've ever wished for was to be painted Faerie! Sadly, the paint brush costs
too much."
After they had both gotten new jackets, window-shopped,
and more, the two friends said goodbye to one-another and walked right on into
their houses.
Mystic hung her jacket on the coat hanger that
was in her never-used closet. She suddenly heard Ashley come on into the door.
"Mystic, I want you to come here RIGHT NOW!" Ashley screamed. Mystic got startled
by the anger in her owner's voice.
Did I do something wrong? Mystic slowly
walked into the living room to face her owner. Instead of seeing an angry red-looking
face, Mystic was utterly surprised to see Ashley with the hugest grin. Ashley
bent down and whispered something into Mystic's ear that made her eyes pop out.
To be continued…
