Sparky’s Guide to the Games of Neopia

by sparkysparks380

GAMES ROOM - Sure, we all know that if you've got NP in excess of 100,000 or so, then by now game winnings hardly make a difference to you. But if you're low on Neopoints, then playing games is one of the best ways to make money fast. And besides, it's fun.

Games to Play

Meerca Chase - This should be the first thing you do when you log onto Neopets each day. If you're good, you might be able to get 1000 points from this daily, which isn't too bad. You get your score in NP for this one. Relatively easy to learn, you move the Meerca around and collect the Neggs , avoiding the red ones, the walls and your own tail (which grows when you collect points). If you're up to it and your reflexes are good, play the game on Hard mode, so as to get the most NP out of it.

Easy mode = 3 points per yellow Negg
Medium mode = 5 points per yellow Negg
Hard mode = 8 points per yellow Negg

Different types of Neggs get you different denominations of points. For example, a Rainbow negg is worth 20 times as much as a yellow negg. The full list is displayed on the main game window.

MAGAX: Destroyer - Ah, the adventures of a mysterious flying cat thing who shoots laser beams and has a bad allergy to Chia vomit. This is my favourite game on Neopets. If you've got the patience, you can score up to 1000 NP per play. That's 3000 a day. The concept of the game is pretty simple. Magax moves automatically in the direction he's facing. You can guide him up and down, as well as turn around. Be careful, though, as it takes a while to turn around. The spacebar fires Magax's laser, which blows up the enemy ghosties. Collect the floating green orbs for health. The Chias occasionally projectile vomit at you, which will damage you, so try to avoid that. The JubJubs split into 3 smaller ones when you blast them, but if you're lucky you can take out all 3 remnants with one shot. One last thing, occasionally Hubrid Nox comes down onto the screen sitting on a black cloud, where he will do one of 3 things: Make all the enemies on the level bigger, set Magax on fire, or freeze you, disabling your control. When he pops up, try to get into a clear area so as not to run into any enemies in case you get frozen. You also get NP equal to your score. And 5 NP per kill isn't bad.

Ultimate Bullseye - At first, you might find this game difficult. I know I did, at first. But eventually, your judgement of aim will improve with practice. So, just keep at it. You get 8 times your score in Neopoints when you send score. Aim with the up and down arrow keys and hold down spacebar to charge the shot. Careful, though, when the shot power goes to the top it goes back down. And when it gets to the top, the crossbow breaks down and you lose your shot. You get different points for each ring you hit.

Bullseye (Red dot) = 10 points
White ring outside the bullseye = 5 points
Red ring outside the last white ring = 3 points
White ring outside the last red ring = 2 points
Outer ring = 1 points
If you hit the bullseye, as well as getting 10 points you can use a powerup for your next shot. The powerups are as follows:

F = You must shoot your arrow through a ring of fire and onto the target. You get double the score you would normally get if the arrow catches fire.
P = Punchbag Bob pops up with an apple on his head. You must hit the apple to get 20 points.
C = The target pops up very close to the crossbow. Though personally, it's a little harder to hit this way.
B = The bullseye keeps growing and shrinking back to its normal size, so it is slightly easier to hit.

Pyramids - This thing is a goldmine. Really. It only costs 50 NP per game, so as long as you score 51 or higher each game you make a profit. The goal is to clear the pyramid by checking out the card at the top of the screen and clicking on a revealed card one number above or below the one at the top of the screen (Aces are both high and low). It sounds confusing, but you'll get the hang of it after a game or two. You get Neopoints equal to your score, which is great because you can score up to 5000 each day (Minus all the entry fees). The more consecutive moves you pull off, the higher your score. Also, you get more points for clearing a card in the higher levels of the pyramid. I usually play this game for about half an hour each day. Try it, the money's well worth it.

Kiko Match II - This game is pretty simple, but getting Neopoints equal to twice your score is pretty good. You have to match up the hidden cards. This is basically a game of wits, memory, and quick thinking. You get 10 points plus the time left at the end of the level once you complete it. Once you get to a certain level, the backgrounds of the cards will change, making the game harder (So you can only match up a yellow Kiko with a blue background to a yellow Kiko with a blue background, and the same with a red background). Play this game daily for good NP.

Games Not to Play

Mutant Graveyard of DOOM - It's difficult enough to get points on this without the fact that you only get NP equal to your score. My hi-score on this is 78. Basically, you collect the food and dodge the baddies. Once you collect the all the food, you advance a level. The levels get harder with progression. I recommend you stay away from this game.

Ice Cream Factory - While it's possible to get scores in the thousands in this game, you only get a quarter of your score in NP, and it takes ages to get anything worth sending. Only play this game if your patience matches that of the faithful Eureka. To play, move Adee the Chia around with your mouse, dodging the flying giant globs of ice cream. Who invented those stupid security Ice Cream cannons, anyway?

Defender Trainer - While not bad if you're a hardcore Neopets fan and know the name of every single Pet, Petpet and item off by heart, for most of us it's pretty hard. You don't get very many Neopoints from it either. The goal is to click on the correct cut-out that matches the description given at the bottom of the screen. It does encourage quick thinking, however, but then again, it could rot your brain and turn you into a Neopets addict. Before playing this, think of your poor Internet connection, being forced onto the same website again and again and again and again and again and again…

Escape from Meridell Castle - There are some places in this game that are all but impossible to slip through (Several spike traps come to mind), which severely detracts from the playability of this game. You control the blue Draik. Push left and right to move, and hold up to fly. Spacebar swings the sword, which will destroy most enemies. You can attack in flight, but not while you're holding the up key (So you can attack on descent). There are better ways to get NP in your spare time.

Nimmo's Pond - You get half your score in Neopoints. This wouldn't be much of a problem, except for that it's extremely easy to lose the game. If you've ever played Asteroids, you should get the hang of this pretty easily. You control the Nimmo on the lily. You swim around with the arrow keys and blast the other lilies by pushing spacebar to fire. B fires a bomb that destroys everything in the immediate vicinity, and V uses your tongue to catch powerups in the form of flies. Have fun.

Freebies

Tombola - Located in Mystery Island, it's pretty good for a daily freebie. If you get a ticket ending in a 0, 2 or 5 you get some Neopoints and a random prize. Check this out. If you don't get a winning ticket, you get a booby prize, which is usually useless. However, Tiki Tack Man may feel sorry for you and give you some money. Usable once per day.

Coltzan's Shrine - This is in the Lost Desert. The best freebie around. Depending on the time of day, you might get some burnt food, Neopoints, dubloons, or raise the stats or level of your active pet. Make sure you select your fighting pet before going here. Usable once per day.

Healing Springs - Usable every 45 minutes. Here you can get a healing potion or have your active pet healed/fed, or have all of your pets healed. Useful after a Battledome fight. You can also buy healing potions here.

Fruit Machine - Think Scorchy Slots, but less complicated. Go here once per day, you may get Neopoints or an item.

I hope my guide has given help to all the Newbies out there. Neomail all feedback to sparkysparks380. Write all hate mail on a piece of paper and burn it in your fire. Hate mail is nasty ;)
