Contest:
Caged!

Something held close and dear...

Well as close as one could get to a cage. Your task for the upcoming weeks is to build a cage. You can use anything you want, but it should look neopian in some way. Ask for help from an adult if needed. Please tell us what you used to make your cage, what it is meant to hold, and what inspired you to make it the way you did in the desription. We will judge entries on creativity, ingenuity and how awesome they are. :)

First Place

Six winners receive the Random Contest avatar, 10,000 NP and an item of DOOM.

Lutari Island Cage
by 4chowder7
I made this cage because I really like Lutaris and I wanted to do a Lutari Island theme. I decided that the cage should hold a petpet, and the one I used in the picture is a Floobix. The materials I used to make the cage were: copper wire for the cage itself, paper painted with Gouache paint for the base, beads, feathers and potpourri pieces for the decorations, twine and hot glue. The Floobix is paper colored with colored pencils. Hope you like it!

Illusen's Pet Crokabek
by crrazay
This cage holds Illusen's trusty pet Crokabek. Being a lover of nature, Illusen would never be caught with any kind of metal cage, so I crafted this from twigs, vines, leaves and flowers from my yard by weaving them together. The Crokabek is a single black sock, stuffed with more socks, with feathers sewn to its body. A simple piece of twine was used to hang it in a tree, where the Crokabek can keep an eye out for any intruding dark faeries. :)

The Mystery Cage!
by kain2099
For my entry I took the chozas from Mystery Island Natives and turned into a Cage, I wanted to achieve a Confortable Cage for my Petpets Mr. and Mrs Meppitian, Using materials from Mystery Island like the palm that grows in the trees and the branches from plants that I used on the Cage.

Skeleton Pteri bird cage
by mysterioushadow
My cage was inspired by the transparent paint brush and my recent exploration into the skeletal items of Neopia. It is modelled to be like a Pteri skeleton. With the rib cage being the main part of the cage and the wings being the doors. I designed my cage to hold bird neopets/petpets. To construct my cage I used paper mache over tinfoil and craft sticks (toothpicks).

Golden Cage with Naleap
by rawrimmakitty
This Golden Cage with Naleap is topped with a magnifying glass cabochon and includes a mirror at the bottom of the cage. The designs at the top of the cage are made from a mica shift technique using the mica inside of gold-colored FIMO and Premo! Sculpey clay. While the designs look 3D, the plates, themselves, are actually flat. Everything used to make the cage was made by hand from scratch for the Caged! random contest theme. The materials used for this cage include polymer clay (gold, pearl, yellow), toothpicks, gold-colored wire, a small mirror, a 14mm dome glass cabochon, acrylic craft paint (gold, silver, green, red, blue, white, black, brown), and Varathane Water-based Polyurethane for the gloss finish.

Altador Cage
by twinkiecake
Decided I didn't want to send money on this project, so i simply used what i had laying around the house: BBQ skewers, scrap wood, sewing thread, spray paint and glue. The design was chosen after the materials were gathered together, i didn't really know what it was going to look like before hand.

Second Place

Eight lucky people have 5,000 NP, the Random Contest avatar and an item whizzing their way.

Kad Cage
by clk76
I decided to make a kad cage because although I have only fed one, I have always loved the kads - also, I got to feature my kitten Nigel :)

Sturdy Petpet Cage Version 2.0
by jackoem
I wanted to make a real Neopian item, and I've always loved petpets, so making a replica of a Sturdy Petpet Cage just made sense. However, I felt as though even the peskiest of petpets didn't deserve to spend time in a dull, grey box, so I jazzed it up with some bright colours!

Roo Island Carousel Cage
by mariezy
Roo Island's Carousel Cage!
Presented by mariezy!

This cage was inspired by my long-standing love for Roo Island and my pride in the Roo Island Altador Cup team and all associated Rooligans. Wanting to honor the...honorable citizens of Roo Island, I chose to combine some of my own personality and flair with the well-known Roo Island Merry-Go-Round design to create the Roo Island Carousel Cage!
This cage was made with the following:
The centerpiece was designed with the ever so fashionable and necessary toilet paper rolls, wrapped in duct tape. The base and roof of the cage are made of rolled tie-dye fabric, rolled AND tie-dyed by yours truly. The bars of the cage are rolled pieces of paper, and the blumaroo and uni designs were drawn and colored (with the help of the Neopets' How to Draw database). Finally, the flags atop the cage were made with wire, wrapped in fabric. Hot glue was employed as the universal adhesive.
This cage is meant to hold yooyus, of course (or, you know, whatever those Roo's see fit to place inside it). It proves most valuable to the Roo Island AC team while in YYB training.
This one's for you, Rooligans!

Meepit Headquarters
by michael_200
This is my Neopets themed cage. I used cardboard for the cage itself, drew the Meepits in 2d, and added them in. I was inspired to make this because Meepits are like evil hamsters, and they tend to live in cages. They also need a base to plot Neopian domination in secrecy, so this is what I envision.

My Kadoaties
by pantdevil540
My entry is a Kadoatie cage from the Kadoatery. My own Kadoaties were happy to make their way into the cage for a snapshot and were especially happy once fed. (Please note my cats were not actually trapped in the cage.) The materials I used for constructing my Kadoatie cage included a cardboard box, colored markers, a glue stick, a milk crate, and a metal hanger. The design was based on the Kadoatery picture in the Neopian plaza, the cages in the Kadoatery and my own imagination. My inspiration was my cats and my desire to finally feed a Kadoatie or two.

Lawyerbot Cage
by strawberrycakeshort
I decided to make a Lawyerbot Cage because I LOVE Lawyerbot and his face deserves to be everywhere! This cage is meant to hold Meepits that are to be unleashed at misbehaving Neopians. I used a cardboard box, aluminum foil, ribbon, red garage sale dots, tape, and a ruler.

Comfort Cloud Cage
by willowtree78
Cages are not something you typically think of as being inviting or friendly, but this cage is different. Inspired by the great Rainbow Pool, this cage is lined with only the softest of clouds from Faerieland, sprinkled with Faerie dust from Queen Fyora herself, and decorated with only the finest of rocks from Kiko Island. It is ideal for your newest of Neopets or Petpets to sleep or simply stay safe. It can be fitted with a handle to double as a Petpet carrying cage for those times when you wish to go explore Neopia with your pet but worry that the little guy might not be able to walk the whole journey with you.
Materials for construction - floral foam ring, cotton balls, glitter glue, colored popsicle sticks, decorative rocks. Taking about 4 hours to construct.

Mystery Island Neohome-style Cage
by x_mystichorse_x
This cage is inspired by a mystery island neohome. It has a window, a door and latch. Other than those, you can't get out or in of this home ;). The purpose of it is to catch any neopet found in mystery island trying to eat and/or totally devour my neogarden I've worked so hard on. Here, I caught an Aisha eating my potato plants and although he looks happy, he really isn't! To create this neohome/cage I used:
- 300 popsicle sticks,
- Hot glue,
- Scissors,
- Cardboard,
- Paint,
- An aisha.
** No neopets were hurt whilst -being shoved in the cage- creating this cage :).

Third Place

Lastly there were 30 runners-up who will each receive 2,000 NP and the Random Contest avatar.
