Jhudora is Coming!
Well... maybe she isn't, but her day is coming up soon. To help her celebrate she has asked that you create dishes for her to feast upon on that special day. These dishes/meals should be themed to Jhudora day. They can be anti-Illusen, celebrating Jhudora, or they can just be things that she would like. The dishes/meals that you make should be completely edible. Please tell us what is in each dish/meal in the description. We will judge entries based on creativity, deliciousness and how awesome they are. :)
Five winners receive the Random Contest avatar, 10,000 NP and an item of DOOM.
(Note, I'm from the UK, so the names of the ingredients used and the UK versions)
This terribly toxic trifle has a jelly layer inspired by Jhudora's "Purple Blob Potion", and then a slimy purple custard layer, a whipped green cream topping, and tons of tantalising topics- poisonous purple crystals, wriggling worms, eyeballs- and a deliciously sinister garnish- Illusen's staff BROKEN IN HALF!! :O It was made with:
Lemon and Lime jelly
Custard (Ready made)
Purple glimmer sugar
Chocolate 'Matchmakers' (Orange flavoured chocolate sticks)
Milk Chocolate (melted)
Red food dye
Blue food dye
Green food dye
Black food dye
Jhudora's Neggplant Feast
I made this feast to honor the beautiful and terrible Jhudora on her day. This meal includes: Bewitched Breadsticks, Jhudora's Wand Cake, Pasta with Pesto, Grape Soda, and my special Jhudora Neggplant Parmesan!
-Bewitched Breadsticks (The only way to get the ring off is by eating the whole thing!)
Flour, Milk, Baking Soda, Salt, Butter, Parsley, Garlic, Parmesan, Purple Dye
-Jhudora's Wand Cake
Yellow Cake Mix, Eggs, Oil, Cream Cheese Icing, Green and Purple Dye
-Pasta With Pesto
Spaghetti, Butter, Pesto, Purple Dye
Soda, Grape, Grape Soda...YUM!
-Jhudora Neggplant Parmesan
Eggplant, Salt, Mozzarella, Tomato Sauce with Garlic, Parmesan, Egg, Flour, Breading, Olive Oil, Basil
I fried the Eggplant with a Flour/Breading/Egg mixture. Then I layered on tomato sauce, Mozzarella, Parmesan, basil, and finally baked it.
For a Very Special Faerie
Appetizer: Crunchy Critters with Sweet and Sour Dip
Guacamole or salsa? Now you can have both! Berries and tomatoes make this salsa unusually sweet while the guacamole is a classic avocado blend. Both have a spicy bite that Jhudora is sure to appreciate. For extra fun the toasted bread bits are shaped like neopets...yum!
Main Course: Illusen on a Platter
What better to way to gain Jhudora's favour than by offering up a facsimile of that pesky earth faerie? While the majority of this edible Illusen doll is made from mashed potatoes, the green areas are decorated with a cheesy onion and pea blend and the brown with pureed tomato paste. After baking, serve on a bed of shredded red cabbage and sweet pepper.
Dessert: The Essence of Evil
This semi-solid treat is made from fruit, juice and jello. The purple is a tasty mix of berries and the green is tart lime. The alternating colour layers garnished with a grape will soothe Jhudora the way only purple and green can.
Jhudora Day Cake
Dear Jhudora, please don't harm my pets and take this cake! Let's celebrate Jhudora Day!! The cake is a homemade vanilla cake (eggs, crystal sugar, butter, flour, vanilla sugar, baking powder, milk) tinted with yellow foodcolor. For the icing I made a cheese and butter cream with powdered sugar and green foodcolor. I used marzipan, purple foodcolor and even more powdered sugar to build the wings and the purple topping. The horn is chocolate frosted marzipan. Some red M&M's were used to pierce the icing. The cake is 100% edible. NOMNOMNOM.
Introducing....well, a feast fit for Jhudora. (: For her I made a scrumptious meal that includes Jhudora Eyeball Pasta, a Jhudoras Swirling Cocktail, and for desert a Jhudoras Cupcake. The Jhudora Eyeball Pasta was made with both regular spaghetti and whole wheat spaghetti that I cooked with 3 different diabolical mixtures of food coloring. The eyeballs are pieces of white bread that I squished into submission, I mean, squished into a ball. I then drew the irises of the eye on the bread with an edible color marker and the pupil is a grape Skittle. To make the Jhudoras Swirling Cocktail I used grenadine with blue food coloring to make it purple, limeade, and a diet lemon-lime soda over ice. First I poured the limeade over the ice. Then I added the dyed grenadine slowly down the side so it would sink to the bottom of the drink. I then topped it off with the soda. The Jhudoras Cupcake is a dyed green vanilla pudding cake. To make it I used a vanilla cake mix and added a box of vanilla pudding as well as the green food coloring. The frosting is a homemade almond butter cream tinted a dismal grey. And I can tell you that what the description says is true. Despite having grey icing this cupcake is actually delicious! Happy Jhudora Day everyone!
Ten lucky people have 5,000 NP, the Random Contest avatar and an item whizzing their way.
Eye Of The Misfortunate
Some say Illusen might have had a bout of bad luck. Materials Used:
Eye of Illusen: Mozzarella ball soaked in green sugar with a black bean in the center for pupil.
Worms: Made from a combination of Black rice noodles, sweet potato & buckwheat noodles, and brown rice & wakame noodles.
Flies: Olives for body and face, wings made from mushrooms placed onto body with toothpicks, White cupcake decorating frosting for eyes.
May I present you here the finest dish made exactly according to Jhudora's very own desires.
It's a chocolate pie made out of eggs, butter, powder sugar and the darkest chocolate mankind has ever produced.
It is decorated by tentacles made of modable cake frosting topped with sugar and green grapes presenting eyeballs.
The pie has a purple icing, and on the top the mightiest faerie across the whole world is portrayed - Jhudora ofcourse. Made out of white and green moldable cake icing, as is Illusen's arms sticking under the pie. She is surrounded by her leaves, made of edible paper. This dish is simply Illusen-smashing good!
Served with Jus d'Ora - orange juice with purple edible coloring and a cherry tomato as a nice juicy eye to top it off.
Better take a bite quick before it crawls away...
Menu for Jhudora's Feast
Drink: Mint tea with butter cream for the violet decorations.
First plate: Green and violet spaghetti with boiled eggs.
Desert: Green lemon flavoured cupcake with grey butter cream.
Lemon/orange flavoured cupcakes with butter cream spots and real wicks.
Jhudora Vegetarian Platter
The following was inspired by the colours associated with Jhudora - purple and green. I made a vegetarian platter using vegetables incorporating those colours. There are three stuffed green bell peppers (stuffed with rice, mushrooms and French shallots). The one in the top left hand corner is sitting on a bed of red cabbage, whilst the one in the bottom right hand corner has two spinach leaves coming out of it to represent wings, like many winged food items of Jhudora. Around the red cabbage are florets of broccoli and snow peas. In the top right hand side of the platter is a purple Dutch carrot, cooked whole, and fanned out, to look tree like, with thinly sliced beetroot, rolled and added in between the sections, to finish off the tree appearance. Towards the bottom right hand corner of the platter is a stuffed zucchini, whose lid has been scored, to give a dark/light green appearance. It is stuffed with tomatoes and onion mixed with the inside of the zucchini. Finally, in the bottom left hand corner is a mushroom that was painted with purple food dye, and mayonnaise was used for the dots.
Jhudora's Toxic Cake
For my entry I've made a cake to reflect Jhudora! I call it Jhudora's Toxic cake. It's a Green velvet cake with purple cream cheese icing! Everything but the green icing was made from scratch! Ingredients for Cake batter:
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1 Tablespoon cocoa
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cups oil
1 cup buttermilk
1 Tablespoon vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 oz. green food coloring
Ingredients for Frosting:
8 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
1 cup butter, room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla
6 cups confectioners' sugar
Red & Blue Food coloring.
What dessert would be better for Jhudora on her special day than her rival turned into a pie. Poor Illusen was the inspiration for this very green pie. It was made with:
-Pre made chocolate grahm cracker crust
-Lime green Jell-O and whipped cream frosting filling (with green food coloring)
-Illusens wings made out of green sugar cookies with frosting decorations
-Cherry Jell-O to mimick her red hair
The pie was served frozen. Nice and cold, just like the evil faerie.
Not so Poisonous Lollypops
Jhudora is well known for her famous poisonous lollypop that gives your pet a disease if they eat it. I can assure you, that this "lollypop" is safe! Made from grape jell-o, vanilla marshmallow icing, marshmallows, and sugar sprinkles. To some it might appear like an odd combination (marshmallows and jell-o?!), or even slightly suspicious (perhaps poison?) but once you try this interesting "lollypop" you'll be hooked! Add extra marshmallow icing if the scary face isn't a big enough portion size. :D
Left: Jhudoras Cupcake, Right: Jhudora Rotten Negg
Devilsly Rotten Jhudora Neggs!
These Devilishly rotten Neggs consist of;
eggs boiled in purple cake coloring, for the deep purple color. Topped with Miracle whip, Green Cake coloring, and egg yolk.
Poisonous Cake-Pop Surprise
Surprise! No Poison!
First I mixed up my cake mix and added the food colouring (mixing the Red & Blue to get the right shade of purple). Once cooked I crumbled up the cake into fine crumbs and mixed it with the buttercream icing and Edible Gold Stars until it reached a dough like consistency. I then formed this into little balls and left overnight in the fridge for them to cool. Next morning I mixed the Chocolate Coating with the powdered food colouring (Very important to use the powder as liquid food colouring would cause the chocolate to seize up!). I dipped the straws into the chocolate then gently pushed them into the cake balls; this is done in order to keep the cake on the straw! Once it had set I dipped the cakes into the chocolate coating. In order to keep the chocolate smooth I added Vegetable Shortening. I then went and played some Neoquest until the coating set. Once it set I was able to pipe decoration onto the Cake-Pops and tie ribbons around them.
End result? Tasty Cake-Pops puddings for Jhudora's feast!
Lastly there were 100 runners-up who will each receive 2,000 NP and the Random Contest avatar.
