Hello and thanks for joining us as we present this week's edition of The Neopian News Brief, your all-in-one summary of everything that's happening in the world of Neopia.
Break out your shovels and patch up your overalls, it's time to get gardening! This week's lead story is the long-awaited, much-anticipated debut of NeoHome Gardens. Chances are you've been squirreling away star trees and sponderolas for some time now, so we're proud to announce that the big day is finally here. However, let's take things one at a time; before breaking out your potting bench and garden gnomes, you've got to claim yourself a plot of land first. Then, after that's taken care of, it's on to the fun part... anyone know where I can get a good deal on a Plastic Lenny?
Once you've loaded up on garden items, if you've still got any NP left, you might wanna swing by the Toy Shop, where they've stocked up on a bunch of extra-icky mutant plushies. Last Friday marked the release of three disgusting dollies (mutant Blumaroo, Usul, and Buzz).
Then, on Monday, two more mutilated mutants, the Moehog and Kiko, turned up. Thursday saw the arrival of mutant Elephant and Techo plushies, and on Friday a whole batch of mutant Chia plushies hit the shelves.
Speaking of Chias being mutilated and disfigured, Thursday marked the celebration of Lupe Day! While the Book Shop joined in the festivities by stocking three new Lupe titles (Modern Lupe, Super Lupe, and Lupe Digest), the Bakery saw fit to premiere three tasty Lupe items, including the sinfully delicious chocolate Chia cupcake. Mmm, there goes my diet!
Another new item creating lots of excitement around Neopia is the recent arrival of Neopet balloons. Last week's initial release of four balloon types (Bruce, Chia, Meerca, and Kiko) set off a great deal of excitement throughout Neopia. Even the most common of these first four, the blue Kiko balloon, is fetching around 20,000 NPs. Not too shabby...
Tuesday saw the arrival of series two, which featured Cybunny, Blumaroo, Acara, and Elephante balloons, while as of Friday you could get a Wocky, Usul, Aisha or Tuskaninny balloon. Between mutant plushies, Faerie dolls, and Neopet balloons, is there ANYONE who's not gonna spend their weekend hanging out in the Toy Shop?
Now, it's time to take a look at all the latest news from the floor of the exchange. After the Neopian economy soared with tremendous gains during the past two weeks, some analysts predicted that the gravytrain would come to a grinding halt this week. However, while the Neodaq did fall a modest thirteen points, the economy actually managed to do quite well, staving off the widespread collapse that many had foreseen... at least, for another week.
In fact, there were actually a number of companies that managed to post significant gains. One company that's been showing immense profit lately is BOOM! Boom Boxes. When they broke the 100 NP mark, many investors considered selling off, figuring that a decline was just around the corner. To everyone's surprise, BOOM has kept chugging along, picking up ten points this week and rising all the way to 122 NPs a share.
On the other hand, BOOM's success has been the exception, rather than the rule, lately. Five companies dropped below 15 NPs this week, including Jacko and Sons, which dropped a whole eight points. This means that twenty-three companies are currently in limbo, unable to trade until they climb back over 15 NPs a share.
So then, will the Neopian economy continue to be victimised by this latest Bear Market, or will other companies follow the example of BOOM! Boom Boxes, and take a turn for the better? Only time will tell....
