The Neopian News Brief

Hello and thanks for joining us as we bring you this week's edition of The Neopian News Brief, your one-stop summary of all the latest headlines from the world of Neopia.

Our lead story this week is the arrival of Faerie dolls. If you thought Usukimania was out of control, then you haven't seen anything yet! Faerie doll fever is running wild, as Neopians gush over their favourites and heatedly debate the relative "cuteness" of each new release.

Wednesday saw the debut of the Faerie doll line, which included the Light, Water, and Space Faeries. Then, on Friday, the Fire and Dark Faeries joined in the fun.

Throngs of Neopians have scrambled to the Toy Shop, hoping to get their hands on a Faerie doll. However, given their extreme rarity, and the staggering demand for Faerie dolls, your chances of picking one up in stores, at least for now, remain rather slim.

For those who've decided NOT to spend the entire weekend camped out in the Toy Shop, you might want to swing by the Health Food Shop, which has just stocked four new gourmet foods. Has your pet grown tired of tucking into turkey dinners and chuffing mint chocolate Chias? Shake things up by giving your discerning diner a fresh sushi cone, or maybe a little golden caviar. After all, it's only the best for your little darling, right?

Speaking of high priced cuisine, its seems that Fyora recently took a little trip to Mystery Island, a trip that resulted in the sudden availability of three new Cooking Pot items.

Along with the noxious carrotblade and Faerie slingshot (gee, I wonder how you get one of those?), you can now also get your hands on a supercool everlasting crystal ball.

So, you might be asking, what mystical powers do these strange new concoctions hold? Ah, there's only way to find out, and that's by paying a visit to Jhuidah the Island Faerie...

Another item making news lately has been Hubrid's odial sphere, which hit the Hidden Tower's shelves this past Friday. Word around Neopia has it that the odial sphere is a great way to build up your Battledome arsenal in a hurry. However, there's a steep price to be paid for possessing this odious orb. Then again, if you happen to have 28 million NP lying around, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better way of spending it...

Now, let's check out today's financial headlines. After last week's modest eleven point rebound, the Neodaq was rocked by a sudden downturn in the market, causing the index to plummet an unbelievable seventy-eight points. Hardest hit was Unis Beauty Salon, whose value fell a whopping thirty NPs a share, finishing the week at a meager 16 NPs. Despite all their troubles, UNIB managed to stay above the dreaded 15 NP mark.

However, six other companies weren't so lucky; if you got stuck holding shares of Mynci Banana Imports, PD Secure Storage, Peophin Water Parks, Shop Wizard N-Commerce, Dice-A-Roo Industries PLC, or EEEEEURGH!!! Ltd., then it could be quite a while before you see a return on your investment.

On the other hand, there were a few companies who managed to post solid earnings for the week. Leading the way was Chiatech Password Security, which not only climbed back over the 15 NP mark, but got all the way up to twenty NPs a share, a thirteen point gain for the week. Also showing signs of life is The Presidential Palace, which has rebounded nicely since their thirty-four point plunge two weeks ago.

So then, with the Neopian economy continuing its downward spiral, some analysts think it might be time to pick up a few bargains. Then again, recent peak performers like Chiatech and Presidential Palace run the risk of being pulled down by the struggling economy. Will these companies be at the forefront of a new bull market, or will they fall victim like everyone else?
