Let it Rain, Acutora

by zummergirl

Long ago back in the years of Maraqua, a Lupe was to be born. Long hours awaited this being as it's journey to the outside world neared. Though something was wrong... something went wrong I should say. This particular mother who we called Esmerala was infected with Reptillioritus, a very nasty disease she caught from the fungus caves. Without a way to cure such an illness herself, she was helpless and had a puppy on the way.

As hours neared to minutes, the weak Esmerala finally had a small blue female Lupe, which she had been surprised since she herself was shadow. This certain puppy simply lay put no cries were heard, none of the average. Unfortunately, and ultimately, this pup had caught his mother's disease which was particularly deadly in pups. As the desperate mother mourned over such an event, minutes turned into hours, hours into days... young pup gave no signs of a normal healthy Lupe pup, instead was constantly asleep nestled deep into her mother's forepaws. Esmerala though too late for her, must help her young, which she still treasures greatly.

As she thinks back to her youth, the sorrow-filled mother remembered a night she had heard of such a negg that had cured a disease similar to what both had caught. Though these mysterious cures were far away in the haunting of terror mountain in an area what to be known as the Snowager's lair... one of the most dangerous areas of the world. She heaved a sigh as she looks back to her child who had woken just then. As weary eyes lay upon the pup who she had come to name Acutora, she had miraculously began to crawl! Eyes widen as Esmerala watched in fanciful joy, weak smile spreading over her muzzle. Though what she did not know, Acutora had been eavesdropping as her mother talked silently of this so called "Snowager's Lair."

Perhaps a month later, Acutora had gradually begun to walk instead of crawl, bark instead of whimper... though still showed great weakness compared to a healthy pup. Treaded one day on a small mound which she had instinctively dug up to reveal a slate with strange markings etched in the stone's surface. Eyes widened as she realised this was it! This was the map to the era-old Snowager's lair! Secretive grin formed as she looked back to her mother who had at the most a month or so left to continue her short life. She took the slate in her jaws and carried it to a secret area where it was studied daily until... she had decoded the stops, signs and obstacles she must overcome in order to reach the destination.

As the night deepened, the bold Acutora crept out of the cave which they called home and to the slate where she took one more glance. Taking a frightened breath she looked off to the north... where she must travel. A short bound started her until she was off. She conversed with the Korbats and Pteris she came across to shorten the time until she came across one certain creature most beautiful in her eyes.

"Hello!" said a Cybunny, delicate purple wings folding over his back. Acutora looked around in curiosity, eyes locked on his. "Whatsa pup like yeh doin' all by yerself out in dese woods?" the Cybunny mused.

"I am looking for the Snowager's Lair... do you happen to know where it is?" said the naive Acutora.

"Wha?! The Snowager's Lair! I wouldn't dare go in there, pup... all he is is trouble... huge ice worm, yeh know?"

Acutora's eyes widened with this. "B-b-but I need the negg to cure my mother!" she said desperately.

"He has neggs, he does... but it's a heap of danger... yeh know? By the way, my name's SoulOfDreams... I live out 'ere."

"I'm Acutora... listen, I really do need to be on my way..."

"Eh... lemme give yeh a ride... I like yeh," the Cybunny said, offering her to get on his back. She tilted her head and took him up on his offer.

The morning rose, air travel proving to be the most affective transportation as Acutora awoke, inside a protective hollowed-out log, the Cybunny no where in sight. She walked about pondering this mysterious being who had helped her... bumping into the side of a large cave. Staring dumbly, something clicked inside. "The Snowager!" she said quickly muffling herself. As she crept along the rims and peeked inside, eyes widen as ears pressed back... a monstrous ice snake laid sleeping to the cold floor. Taking a deep breath she crept in and ventured to the back of the lair completely wary to spring away at any moment. Digging through the neggs she came across a RainWater negg which she quickly stashed sneaking out of the cave quietly until she tripped on a keyring falling to the floor with a thud and a gasp. Closing her eyes tight waiting for the mighty blow of the Snowager to take her, tears flooded down crystallising immediately. After what seemed forever she looked around to see the Snowager still sleeping miraculously. She sobbed and ran out in terror. The Snowager opened one eye... he had known... yet why hadn't he took the young life of Acutora? Some mysteries are to remain so.

After the long journey home she bounded into the cave with the Rainwater negg clutched in her jaws. Mother's tearstained eyes widened as she crawled over and hugged Acutora, sobbing considerably until she looked down at the negg.

"Acutora! The Negg!" she exclaimed eyes now huge. She simply grinned and broke it open with her paw. They both consumed what was inside, and within a week were fully strong and capable. Laughing joyously until one day Acutora had to leave... yes... she was old enough now.

Jumping off into the forest with a frown she turned into a wanderer for maybe a year or so... though one particular day she had ventured deeper into the woods then usual, a young woman had obviously spotted her with a surprised look. Acutora having not seen such a creature stood still until the woman came closer soft fingers running through her ears. Enjoying this greatly, she felt true trust in this human who called herself zummergirl. The woman took Acutora gently into her arms and led her back to a small cabin fancied with good smelling cloves, and decorations. As the girl studied Acutora, she took out a most beautiful starry paint brush and began her work. As Acutora admired herself in the mirror, paws curled around zummergirl's feet and then to be known as her own.

After yet another year, the happy couple had managed to collect neggs, faeries, and codestones after zummergirl had heard of Acutora's story and treasured it. Acutora feels much security with these healing items about, and to this day still collects all she can to keep her owner and herself healthy, and to let nothing harm them. Neggs for healing, Faeries for powers, and codestones for agility.
