The rare items market is just like the non-rare items market on a much bigger
scale. Instead of buying something worth 25 NP you are buying something worth
2500 NP. Instead of making 5-10 NP profit on every sell you make 500-1000 NP
on every sale. I'll explain buying first for those people who don't have active
shops.
Part 1: Buying
Buying is very simple really. You are a consumer (a buyer) and you probably
want what you want for the least amount of NP possible. In Neopia it is really
easy to compare prices. You click shops on the toolbar and then on the shops
toolbar you click on the wizard hat. This brings you to the shop wizard. If
you haven't been here go here for all of your shopping needs. In the upper most
box type in the name of what you want to buy (i.e. Puppyblew). It will bring
up a list of Puppyblews (or whatever you typed in) and their prices sorted from
least to greatest cost. Refresh at least 3-4 times to see the best price. I
found the first one usually doesn't have the cheapest price. Then buy the cheapest
one of any of the refreshes. If you passed it try refreshing some more. After
1-3 refreshes it will go back to the one with the cheapest item. Just enter the
shop and buy it and viola! You just bought the rare item (or any item
would work using this pattern) and you got the absolute best price for it also!
Part 2: Selling
This is a lot more complicated. I am only going to cover what the average Neopian
can and might do. That is small and medium shops (there are 4 ratings: small,
medium, large, and REALLY large). Small shops are simple. Whatever you find/win/get
for free just put in your shop. This would be something like Codestones you
can't use at the moment, PetPets you win, and treasure chest maps you get from
the treasure chest quests. Medium shops you actually go out and find stuff to
get but only buy stuff when you get lucky. Remember how to buy and get cheapest
price? Well now your looking for an absurdly cheap price (say 4200 NP for an
item that sells for 5000 NP usually). You buy the 4200 NP item and sell it for
5000 (or 4900 NP if you want to be under the rest). You might think this is
mean and unfairly raises prices but it doesn't because the 4200 NP item won't
make a difference. To make a difference there would have to be more of those
items (then it wouldn't be rare now would it?) and/or less demand. You don't
want me to go into the law of supply and demand do ya? No you don't (trust me,
you don't).
Neomail me if you have any questions, are poor and want to learn how to make
Neopoints (don't beg from me though I won't respond), want prices down and want
to know why they are so high, or anything. I'm not a huge seller of rare items
(I would call myself medium) nor am I very rich. I've been playing off and on
for the last 10 months (couple months on 1-2 months off) under 3 different names
and have been at both ends of the spectrum (rich + poor, how rich? 16 wooden
room house in Faerieland rich {old deleted account}. How poor?).
Thanks for hearing about me and taking my tips! Hope you use them well! |
