Meeting Mr. Lupe by daddysgirl200636 | |
It was a particularly cold day at the Ski
Lodge. There wasn't anybody around, just me and the lodge. I was used
to this, because during the fall nobody ever came to the lodge, because nobody
wants to ski in the fall. I was always the one stuck watching this place, because
no one else wanted to! It didn't seem very fair at the time, but boy was my
life about to change.
Hi, my name is Faith von Chia, I am 17 years old, and I work at the Ski Lodge
in Terror Mountain. I am usually all alone, because I am the youngest of the
crew, and they decided I get last dibs on when my vacation is. It gets really
scary up here when I'm all alone, especially at night. I am also stuck sleeping
here! I have a room in the back of the lodge. I really hate my job!
I was just sitting behind the front desk drinking some hot chocolate and reading
The Big Blumaroo Book when I heard the door to the lodge open. Now, I
knew this was unusual because no one ever came here! So I stood up slowly laying
my book face down on my chair and taking one last sip of my hot chocolate. I
walked slowly to the door, it was wide open, and no one was there. Chills ran
down my back. Just then I heard a scraping noise, it really scared me, so I
stood very still, and listened. Nothing. Then I knew I heard footsteps, and
I turned around very quick and saw an old man. I screamed just because he scared
me very much, and I think I scared him when I screamed so loud and he jumped.
"I didn't mean to scare you," said the old man.
"Nor did I," I replied.
We just sat there for a minute, until he said, "I was wondering, can you book
me a room? I hadn't a place to stay, and this looks nice," he said, "Unless
you are too full of course," he snickered because he knew this place was abandoned.
I smiled and grabbed his bags, and I lead him to his room, right beside mine.
I shook his hand and welcomed him here, when I shook his hand I felt safe, just
suddenly safe.
That night, I heard some crying so I walked out of my room and slowly opened
his door, he was leaning against the side of the bed crying! I didn't know why!
I knocked lightly, so he knew I was there. He jumped as he heard the knock.
"I didn't know I had an audience," the man laughed.
"Is everything all right?" I questioned.
He hesitated, then slowly nodded his head, "Nothing you'd be interested in
little lady!"
"Oh please, call me Faith, Faith von Chia is the name, and you sir?"
"Not sir, that's for sure, my name is Laurence, Laurence Lupe."
"Nice to meet you I'm sure." I laughed, "Anyway, why were you crying Mr. Lupe?"
"Oh please, call me Laurence!" he said, "and it really is no big deal, you
wouldn't understand."
"Try me!" I exclaimed.
"Well, just a few days ago, I was with my daughter, a bright young lady like
yourself, her name was Joan Lupe. She was always laughing and getting into all
kinds of adventures-" he broke off, almost like it was too painful to be telling
me this. "Go on," I encouraged.
He looked at me, and he smiled, "Well, three days ago, she wanted to go on
an adventure, to the Snowagers cave. I put my foot down, and told her it was
out of the question, and that she was to stay at camp. She of course didn't
listen. When I got back from the store, I went into the tent, and she wasn't
there. I figured that she was just out playing and that she'd be back in no
time. Well, three hours passed, and she still wasn't home. So I went in search.
I saw some footprints in the snow, but I figured they could've been anybody's!
Until I saw an imprint in the shoe prints, it said 'Brucey B's', which is her
brand of shoes, and they led right to the Snowagers cave! I ran with all my
might! When I got there, he was asleep, and I saw her, she was in his treasure
pile. She saw me and she yelled my name! With that the Snowager woke up, and
he grabbed my little Joan, and just starting attacking her, and he pushed me
out of the cave with his tale. I tried to get back in, but I couldn't! I was
so scared! And so was she! And now she's gone, she's just gone!" he started
crying and I ran over and hugged him, I just held him. He was crying for another
five minutes until I said "Grab some mittens, lets go." I don't know what came
over me! But I had a sudden urge to get his daughter back, I just knew she was
still alive!
He grabbed his mittens, and we were off, I put the "Closed" sign on the door
(like anyone would care). We were getting closer when he finally realised what
we were doing. He had a joyous look on his face, and I knew I did the right
thing. We finally got to the cave, and I led the way. On the way I whispered
to him, "I am going to distract the Snowager,
you grab Joan, and I'll meet you out there," he nodded.
When we walked in he was asleep, and there was Joan, shivering in the corner,
probably starving.
"YO! YOU STUPID SNOWAGER, COME AND GET ME, FRESH MEAT!" that was probably the
stupidest thing I had ever done, but I had to. And when I saw Joan's face light
up, I knew I wouldn't regret it.
Joan ran over to her dad, and they ran out, and there I was with the beast,
he got distracted when someone else from Neopia tried to take his treasure,
and I ran out as fast as I could. I met up with Joan and her father, and they
both hugged me and thanked me.
When we got back to the lodge, Laurence started packing.
"WHERE ARE YOU GOING?" I asked curiously.
"Oh, Faith, I've got to go, and get on with my life, now that I have Joan,
I must go."
"NO!!!!!! I don't want you to go," I cried as I ran over and hugged him with
all my might. I was crying harder then I ever had before, and he started crying
too, telling me I would be fine, but he must leave.
"I don't see why we can't just live here, it's cozy, for a big lodge," Joan
cut in as she saw us there. "Besides, I could use a new best friend." She smiled.
And so did Laurence.
"I don't see why not," he said as he smiled.
Joan and I both started jumping around and hugged each other. So it was final,
they were staying, and I would have the family I've always wanted. We remained
best friends for as long as I can remember, and it will always be that way.
