Viverna thought about how to save Triren the whole night in the tree she slept
in the first day. She could think of nothing. Just think of how heartbroken
Triren will be when I tell him I can’t save him, she thought sadly. I
guess I’ll just tell him now that he shouldn’t keep his hopes up. She hopped
off the tree and flew off, flying to the stone palace.
When Viverna got there, she quietly landed on top of the stone castle. She
wandered around a bit, inspecting the castle. There she found another crystal
window, just like the one in Triren’s room. She looked down through it, and saw
a large, red Grarrl talking to a green one. What are they talking about?
she thought. She made a small hole in the crystal window, and put her head down
to listen.
“I know that….” She was catching bits and pieces of the conversation. “…not
agree….We’ll march tomorrow…. war with Baron…” Who’s Baron? she thought.
She flew to where Triren was, and told him what she had heard.
“Baron is my father!” Triren exclaimed. “They are going to have war with the
Lupe Kingdom! I must warn my father!”
“How?” Viverna asked.
“You must get me out, and quick!” Triren explained.
“Ummmm…hold on a minute,” Viverna said, and flew away. She flew back to the
spot were she saw the red Grarrl and the green one talking. She put her mouth
next to the hole she made. Sorry in advance, Triren, if this doesn’t work. “Hey!
The Prince is trying to escape!” she yelled into the stone castle. Her voice
bounced off the walls, and the Grarrls didn’t know where her voice was coming
from, but they were too stupid to care.
Viverna quickly flew back toward Triren. “Triren, brace yourself!” She called
out to him. “And go into the corner!” Triren, who was very confused, did as
he was told. Two Grarrls burst into the room, and Viverna did the only thing
she could. She blew a stream of hot fire, right on the two Grarrls’ head. The
red one fell over, but when he got up, he looked up at her with such hatred
in his eyes that Viverna fell backwards on top of the roof. I have to get up!
She thought, I have to save Triren! Next to her face was a large heavy stick,
and she grabbed it in her hand as a weapon. She quickly flew up and into the
stone castle, ready to face this evil monster. She stood right in front of the
open door.
“Hey, you want a piece of me?” Viverna asked. “Well, then come and get me!”
The stupid Grarrl ran straight towards her, as fast as he could. Viverna flew
straight up into the high ceiling of the palace; the Grarrl ran right out of
the door. She hastily flew down and shut the door and stuck the stick in a notch
in such a way that the Grarrl could not get back in.
Triren came running over to her. She noticed the green juice on his paws and
mouth, and realised that he must have taken care of the green Grarrl.
“Good job,Viverna,” Triren congratulated her.
“Thanks, you too. Grab on to my waist,” Viverna ordered.
“Huh?”Triren questioned.
“Just do it!” Viverna ordered. Triren gingerly grabbed on to Viverna.
“Tighter!!” she yelled, and Triren did as he was told. With all of her remaining
strength,Viverna flew up and out of the stone castle, dragging Triren with her.
When they were finally on solid ground, Triren suddenly went up to Viverna
and hugged her. “Thank you so much, Viv!” he exclaimed.
Viverna kind of felt embarrassed by being called ‘Viv’ by almost a complete
stranger, not to mention that he was a Lupe. Finally, she hugged him back just
as fiercely. “You're welcome, ‘Tie. I couldn’t of done it without you.”
Triren suddenly remembered that he had to get back to the castle, and quick.
“Come on,let’s go!” he cried, and took off at a ground eating pace. Viverna
flew along beside him, having no trouble at all keeping up with him. Really,
she was faster than him when she was in the air. She realised that there was
only one way to get back to the castle in time.
“Triren, I have to fly back to the castle without you,” Viverna said.
“What?!”Triren roared. “The Lupes there will eat you!”
“It’s the only way. I can fly faster than you. I’ll be seeing ya.” And with
that, she left.
Now what am I going to do? Triren thought to himself. Viv is going
to die! I just know that someone will eat her, I just know it! And she hasn’t
eaten or slept for days! I’m not sure if she has enough strength to make it
home! And… She doesn’t even know where it is! Triren raced along the snow-covered
ground as fast as he could, knowing that he could not keep up this speed for
long. I can only keep this pace up for about 4 miles! And I have about 30
more to go! Triren slowed down a bit, but continued running. He had to get
to the castle, fast.
Viverna saw the crystal castle rising in the twilight distance. Well, there
it is, she thought to herself. She flew faster, faster than ever before.
The whole Lupe Kingdom rested upon her wings. She started to think of a plan,
some way to tell Baron that she was a friend, and not food. Oh, I should
of asked Triren more questions! She thought angrily to herself. I could
of asked him what the queen’s name was, or what the red Grarrl’s name was!
But there was no time to think of that now. She was closing in on the last miles
to the castle.
The brave silver Shoyru flew on top of the castle; she knew that the Lupes
did not expect anything to fly in from the top, except maybe a Beekadoodle.
She landed, and then looked through a thinner part of the crystal, considered
a window. There she saw a female Yellow Lupe, and another male Blue Lupe lying
in a bed. That must be them! She thought to herself. With her sharp claws, she
quickly cut a large enough circle in the window so that she could slip through.
She took a deep breath, and slipped through, and once in, she kept her self
in the air with her wings. At first, the Lupes and their guards, which were
five Spilt Battle Lupes, did not notice her. Then, just as Viverna was almost
close enough, one of them spotted her. They started barking and yapping their
heads off, because they couldn’t get to her.
“Men!” Baron cried, “Get a net!”
“Wait!” she cried. “I have to warn you! I’m a friend of Triren!”
Baron looked at her in disbelief. “Triren? A friend of a Shoyru? I think not!”
The one Lupe, who seemed the leader, stepped up. “You may be able to defeat
my men, but you can not defeat me. I am a warrior, and you? A Shoyru Come down
here and fight me like a Lupe.”
“Baron, listen to me. The Grarrls will attack at dawn. I came here because
I could fly faster than Triren could.”
“What colour is Triren?” the Baron asked.
“White, and he wears a blue anklet around his left hind leg. The Grarrls are
coming here! They are having war!”
“You do know Triren!” the King exclaimed. “Guards! Stop this at once!” Viverna
landed on the marble floor. “Guards! Assembly the entire army, and prepare the
warrior force at once!”
The Baron noticed the black anklet on Viverna’s right hind leg and her colour
with a raised eyebrow. Viverna noticed his gold one with awe. All but one of
the guards had left, and the Lupe King struggled to sit up. “What is your name,
silver Shoyru?”
“My name is Viverna.”
“How did you hear of this, that there will be war?” the King asked.
“I was saving Triren from the Grarrls, sir,” Viverna said timidly.
“What?!”The queen exclaimed. “What happened to my baby?!”
“Well, my lady, he was kidnapped by the Grarrls and they were going to hold
a ransom for him, and they knew that you wouldn’t be able to fulfill it. They
planned to have war, and they are coming here tomorrow, at dawn.
Baron, though still wary of her, had let her stay the night and let her have
as much food as she could hold. She figured out that the Queen’s name was Gwenderina,
or Gwen for short. She thanked them and went to sleep that night in a locked
room, that way, there would be no commotion over the night.
Now it was 4:00 in the morning, two hours before dawn, when Triren came racing
up over the last hill to the castle. Viverna flew out to greet him. “Triren,
you made it!” she cried as Triren was attacked by a fury of Shoyru wings.
He laughed. “Of course I did!” Viverna flew up to the King and Queen, Triren
tagging along behind.
“Oh Triren!” Gwen cried as she hugged the white Lupe, wagging her tail.
“Mother, I’m fine,” Triren reassured. He struggled out of her grip, then calmly
walked over to his father. “The army is ready, is it not?” Baron nodded. “And
the warrior force?” Baron nodded again. “Good. I will be fighting father, for
you cannot.”
Baron nodded again, he knew this was to be. “I know, son. Just make sure you
are ready, and that you are fully prepared.”
“I am.”
“Then good luck.” Baron and Triren hugged each other, knowing that this may
be their last time to see each other.
“I am fighting too.” The voice was unmistakable.
“But you are only female!” Baron shouted.
“That does not matter. I am fully capable of defending my self in armed combat,”
Viverna stated.
“But… you could die,” Triren protested.
“So could you,” Viverna replied. "You ran all the way here. Aren't you tired?"
“You have come a long way. You two must go into the castle; you must get ready,”
Baron said.
Viverna and Triren looked at each other with a grim look on their face, then
hurried into the castle.
In the castle, they were equipped with armor to protect them. Viverna got full
body armor, made right on the spot just for her, and Triren had armor made just
for him as well. They looked at each other in their new outfits.
Triren smiled sheepishly. “I wish I could say you looked good, but we’re not
exactly playing dress up, now are we?”
Viverna shook her head and tried to keep from blushing. “Ditto.” Viverna rose
up a hand and made it a fist. Triren did the same. The bashed there fist together.
“Let’s go out there and kick some-”
“Grarrls have been seen on the northern horizon! Everyone, battle positions!”
a scout yelled, cutting Viverna off.
“Let’s go!” Triren yelled, and the two friends sped away out the castle doors.
Viverna flew ahead of Triren and merged with the Grarrl army. There was probably
over 100,000 Grarrls, and who knows how many Lupes. She flew over the Grarrls,
using her fire breath to destroy as many Grarrls as possible, and when she needed
a break from that she would land on the ground and fight hand-to-hand. She scouted
out only one Grarrl, the large red one. He was most likely the leader, and the
one she hated most. She frantically flew around, trying to find him.
When she did find him, she wished she never had. There, in his evil drenched
claws was a Red Lupe pup.
FLASH!
“Do you want to play?” the cloud puppy asked the red one.
“Okay, what are we playing Moonlusion?”
“WAR!!!”
FLASH!
“What in the world was that?!” Viverna gasped. Has she seen the future? The
past? The young puppy’s life? But there was no time to think about that. The
Grarrl would destroy the pup!
She flew down amongst the battle, hovering right on top of the ground. She
picked up a few rocks and threw them at the Grarrl's head.
“Arrrgggg!” the beast yelled, and dropped the Red Lupe pup onto the ground.
Viverna carefully picked up the pup and flew away.
“Don’t worry, little Lupe. You’re safe now. You were soooo brave!” Viverna
cooed. The little puppy yapped happily. Viverna smiled and cradled the poor
thing in her arms, and tried to find the Baron. She quickly spotted him on the
Castle’s look out. What is so special about this pup? She thought. And whatever
it is, who is Moonlusion?
