Pet Name: _Auroraflare_
Owner: breakingchains
Breed: Shoyru

About _Auroraflare_:
The room is completely silent. A warm breeze blows in through the window, ruffling the lace at the edges of the pillows; toys and pieces from games litter the soft carpet on the floor. Faerie plushies and usukis are layered on a dresser, a proud display that is now full of gaps after a day of stories and adventures. Looking at the way the toys are scattered, one can almost deduce the events that took place in here today. Three dolls on a gray sheet of paper tell the story of how Illusen and Jhudora teamed up to defeat the evil Xandra in an epic battle on Kreludor; Judge Hog turned out to have an equally-powerful long-lost sister (who seems to look just like him, with the addition of lipstick); and, judging by a set-up in a dollhouse nearby, the Happiness Faerie finally realized his true feelings for Rosie the Grarrl. But the profound dramas and changes in the course of Neopian history have wound down for the day, and now there is only the breeze, the swaying lace... and a conspicuous yellow blanket, bundled on the floor.

Then footsteps come padding down the hall, and a glossy camouflage Zafara pokes his head around the door frame. His big eyes scan the pink-and-purple room from floor to ceiling.

"'Flare? Where are you?" He waits a moment, listening. Then he sighs. "Oh, come on."

The blanket giggles. Comet seizes the edge of it and tugs.

"It's time to go. We were heading for the coffee shop, remember?"

The blanket yanks itself from his hand, bunching up underneath a now obviously Shoyru-shaped wad.

"Shhhh. I'm an omelette."

"'Flare - "

"Omelettes don't talk," she snaps.

Comet hesitates. He knows from experience that his tiny sister - who, today, is apparently an omelette - does not respond well to barked orders. He was only asked to get her out of bed and onto the front walk, and he considers his options; the easiest route there might be to simply punt her out the window.

Then he feels a small nudge against his foot, and looks down to see a Snowbunny repeatedly shoving its face into him; it looks up expectantly. It doesn't see how loony his sister is, how frustrating it can be to get her to listen for a few measly seconds - it just knows he's bugging its owner. He considers punting it, too. It's perfectly football-shaped, after all, would probably fly pretty well -

Focus. He stares at the yellow "omelette" for a second; if he tries to coax her out with the promise of the butterscotch milkshake she's been begging for all afternoon, she'll insist that omelettes don't drink milkshakes. If he tells her to get up and quit fooling around, she'll just become more and more stubborn.

Sometimes, he decides, you have to swim with the current.

"Hey, 'Flare, omelette's gone."

There is a moment of silence, then a pink snout appears from under the blanket.

"Huh?"

"The giant omelette. It's gone. Ran out. Won't be back for another couple hours." More silence. The rest of her face appears, ringed with yellow blanket. Her blue eyes blink as she ponders this twist of fate. Without the omelette, some other make-believe concept has to rush to fill the gap. Maybe she'll decide to be an usuki, or Lady Frostbite. Or at least Doctor Sloth, who - for all his evil deeds - still has the presence of mind to get up and go for a butterscotch milkshake once in a while.

Just as long as she doesn't decide she's a codestone again. Last time she did that, she just sat on the floor and wiggled for forty-five minutes.
