Pet Name: Zenuvious
Oh, hello. I didn't see you there; I was too busy playing in the snow. My name's Zenuvious, but you can call me Zen if you like. I love this time of year; my whole family does. To celebrate, my owner neotelle has painted me some beautiful shades of Christmas. Don't you think the green in my eyes is pretty? Do you know why it's my favourite time of year? Yes, because of Christmas coming up, of the warm atmosphere it brings and yes, because of the sense of family and happiness. But the real reason, the thing that I love the most, is the snow!
I love the first flakes that fall from the sky, glistening gracefully as they glide to the ground, like diamonds of ice. I love the excitement of that first day when the snow settles, that feeling when you wake up and see the blanket of frosting covering every corner that I can see. A type of excitement that you can only get from the knowledge of the joy the snow brings. The memories of the fun you had last year, of the chance to frolic and play with your friends and family, a chance for bonding, a chance to let your hair or fur down and forget your worries.
I love to come outside the morning after the snow has settled. Of course I bring Jetess and Klaiwe – my brother and sister – with me. My siblings feel the cold a lot more than I do. But then again, I do have a fluffy scarf of fur to keep the winter chill from my neck. We spend hours just losing ourselves in the moment, in the fun of running around, crunching underfoot and building snowpets. Of making snowballs, having snowball fights and pretending to have snow wars. I like to run and run and jump and jump, trying to catch snowflakes in my paws and on my tongue.
We spend all day playing, all day running around and revelling in the moment of pure bliss. We forget ourselves and we forget the time. Before you know it, the sun is setting and casting sparkling shadows upon the blanket of ice. The dark of the night begins to take its hold upon this icy plain and we realise the day is ending. 'No, no. They day can't be over yet!' we cry. The wind picks up and a chill shivers through our bodies. Baby Jetess is shivering and we know we must head home.
Although it may be cold outside, and the walk home one of resentment, we know that at the end of it all we have a warm and loving home to come back to after a hard day of play and my owner has a plate of freshly baked cookies and a warm glass of milk waiting for us. We may not want to go home yet, but I keep safe in the knowledge that if the snow isn't here again tomorrow, it will be back next year once again.
