Pet Name: Ronerii
Owner: elynah
Breed: Bori

About Ronerii:
“I’m not scared. I’m a big boy, I’m not scared at all.”

The lone baby Bori tried to convince himself that everything would be all right. That his mother would come and find him. That he’d see his brothers and sisters again.

“Mom…”

The Bori sniveled. The sun was already setting, and he had nowhere to go. He didn’t know where he was or how he’d gotten there. The branches of the large maple tree he was lying under cast a shade over his tiny body. It made him shiver.

“It’s so cold...”

It was autumn, and the nights were getting chilly. The little guy couldn’t hold his tears back any longer.

“What’s going to happen to me now?”

He began to wail desperately, hoping his mother would appear and lead him back to their home den.

“Mom, where are you?”

He tried calling for his mother. The forest was quiet, save for the sound of falling leaves and the autumn wind soughing through the trees.

“Mom… somebody… please…”

His stomach let out a growl. How long had it been since he had last eaten? He tried to recall, but he couldn’t remember. He was starving. His small body was too exhausted to stand up and search for food. He wouldn’t even have known how to as he was still a baby; his mother had yet to teach him how to fend for himself.

He felt hopeless. Just as he was about to cry for his mother for the umpteenth time, he heard approaching footsteps. The Bori became alert.

“What’s that?” he wondered. “Mom, is that you?”

“Mom?” a voice asked. “Are you lost, little one?”

A strange looking figure was eyeing him curiously.

“Who are you?” the Bori asked gingerly.

“Who am I, you ask?” the person pondered for a while. “I’m just someone taking a leisurely walk in the forest.”

She then noticed his watery eyes.

“Have you been crying?”

“What? N-no…” he muttered.

“Is that so?” she said skeptically.

She smiled gently, and the Bori calmed down a little. His stomach let out another grumble.

“Oh, but look at you! You must be starving!” she said with a concerned look on her face. “Let’s head to Neopia Central and get you something to eat. I’ll help you look for your mother first thing in the morning!”

The young Bori’s eyes brightened.

“Okay!” he answered enthusiastically.

“By the way, do you happen to have a name?”

The Bori nodded cheerfully.

“Ronerii.”

“Nice to meet you, Ronerii.”

“Nice to meet you too!”

------

Later that night Ronerii was lying on a sofa. His new friend had given him a soft pillow and a warm blanket. It was nice and cozy.

“This definitely beats a cold, eerie forest!” he chuckled.

He stretched his front legs and let out a yawn, followed by a burp.

“Maybe I shouldn’t have gobbled down all that food…”

Just a moment earlier he had been stuffing himself with all sorts of tasty things; omelettes, neggs, waffles, sandwiches, pretzels, slushies, different kinds of jellies… He even tried ketchup ice cream!

“What a day.” Ronerii thought.

He yawned again and closed his eyes.

“This isn’t bad. This isn’t bad at all.” he thought and dozed off joyfully. “Tomorrow I’ll see mom and my siblings again for sure!”
