Syd walked slowly toward an ice cave. She was in Terror
Mountain, cold and lost. You're so stupid. Why did you run away anyway?!
She tried to not think about it, but she couldn't help it.
"So... cold." She fell into the icy cave. She
looked up, and saw the Snowager coming down at her. DO SOMETHING!!! Syd
ordered herself. But she couldn't. And she screamed, frozen in place, and was
suddenly throw outside.
"What were you doing in there?" snapped an unfamiliar
female voice. She looked up, seeing a glowing Wocky glaring down at her.
"I'm cold," Syd muttered. Of course, EVERYONE
always saw something humiliating about her. "I'm going home."
"Where do you live?"
"Neopia." She replied to the Wocky
"Can't get there. Sorry." Syds' eyes widened.
I can't believe this!... Syd had to get out. She ran, running straight into
a plane. She rubbed her head, and got on, then almost immediately fell asleep.
She was falling, and people were crying "PURPLE
SHOYRU!!". Everything was on fire, and she was helpless. And she was shaking.
Suddenly her eyes were open and someone was saying Purple Shoyru. They landed!
She ran off without bothering to say thanks.
"Oh no..." her words trailed off. She was alone.
Scared. Helpless. In the haunted woods. I wish that glowing Wocky was here.
"Someone call me?" Someone asked behind her back.
She whirled around, seeing none other than the Wocky! Syd ran over.
"Hmm...wanna see what your family is doing?"
The Wocky asked. Suddenly Syd was in faerie land. The twins were there, shouting
her name.
"I'M RIGHT HERE!!!" She run over to them, but
went through them, and fell. "Vi... Eyore... hello?" They can't hear me. She
realised. She was in terror mountain this time. She saw Freya and Snow looking
around.
"S...Syd!!!" Freya and Snow called. She ran over,
but went through them again, landing in the haunted woods.
"Whoa." That's all she could say. Whoa. That's
it. The Wocky rolled her eyes. "What's your name?"
"Call me... Glow," she responded. Syd blinked.
"Well. I want to try to go to Neopia. Where do
I go?" Syd asked. Glow pointed toward deep into the woods. Syd ran, and waved.
As Syd reached a boat, she shuddered. It looks
nearly as bad as the woods. But Syd climbed on, ignoring how cold she was. She
waited, and looked into the water. It was brownish green. Gross! I hope the
boat doesn't tip. She waited for one hour, watching the water pass. It was taking
WAY to long.
"Forget it," she mumbled, and put her paws
in the water, and steered it to the land. She jumped out, and started walking.
She saw a bit of light, and ran. Neopia, here I come! She ran, and found herself
in... Meridell. Some locals stared. You're in a T-shirt and jeans. What do you
expect? Just smile and walk on. She smiled, or at least tried to smile, and
walked toward some potatoes.
"Um...what're these for?" She asked stupidly.
The Kacheek by them looked at her like she was an idiot. It must be something
they used a lot. Maybe they just eat them. "I mean... is it a game, or what?"
"Potato counter is what it's called. We count
potatoes," he said simply, as if everyone in the world should know.
"Oh." She just walked away, spotting Illusen's
Glade. "I'll go over there." She started running, and saw the earth faerie.
"Welcome to my home..." She explained the quest,
and Syd nodded. "So I need a pile of sludge."
"Got some!" She quickly ran around Meridell,
finally spotting a shop. It had it! She took it and paid, then gave it to the
faerie.
"OK, here you go!" Illusen gave Syd some of her
cookies. She's nicer than the dark faeries. Syd waved and walked out.
She entered the petpet shop. Then she walked
out, there was nothing there. She looked around, and thought Is this place boring
or what? My clothes are probably getting all dirty too! She looked around. She
only saw Neopets who lived there. And she was tired. She needed sleep.
"Hello, Syd," Glow said, right behind her.
"Quit sneaking up on me, evil little Wocky!"
She teased, grinning. Glow pointed at some local teens around Syds' age.
"They look like you're kind of group,"
"Yea... and your would be the outcast. Well,
see ya!" she said, walking over to the group. "Hey."
They greeted her. They talked, laughed, and things
for a while.
"Psst...Syd" Glow said, hiding near an outhouse.
"Uh...I got to use it," Syd said, running to
the outhouse. "What are you doing?!"
"Um...checking what's up," Glow responded, confused
at why Syd was mad. What did she think she was doing?! Syd is a popular sort
of girl. Glow's the outcast type. She cant be seen around her!
"You're not like us, I'll be totally embarrassed!
Or do you outcast WANT that to happen?" She snapped. She felt a spurt of guilt.
"WELL SORR-Y!" Glow glared at her, and disappeared.
Syd went out to the others.
"I feel sick. I better go." She ran off. "GLOW!!
I'M SORRY! I JUST...I'M STUPID, OK? PLEASE ANSWER WE!" shouted Syd.
"You okay?" a fire aisha asked. Syd nodded.
"Yea, I'm fine."
"You look tired," she replied.
"OK! FINE! I RAN AWAY, I CANT GET HOME, AND I
HAVEN'T SLEPT IN AROUND FOUR DAYS!!!! I WAS BEING A JERK TO THE ONE WILLING
TO HELP, BECAUSE I'M IN THE POPULAR GROUP AND SHE'S NOT!" Syd cried. She buried
her head in her paws. "I am SUCH an idiot. I can't believe it. I ran away from
a GREAT home, where I was PAINTED! Just because I couldn't get these shoes and
clothes!" She sobbed. She knew she looked like an idiot, but she didn't care.
She wanted her house. She wanted her owner. She even wanted her siblings.
"Go, then."
"Is there a boat? A plane?"
"A train," the aisha replied softly. Syd
nodded, and ran, tripping over a rock. She got up, and walked toward the water.
No train. She walked toward the shops. No train. But she did see a better boat,
so she ran on, and noticed how everyone looked... so... rich. She looked down
at her clothes. Preppy, not rich. But it'll do. She looked out, as the boat
moved, it went fast, and Syd fell.
"Ow." Get up! They saw that! Syd quickly
got up, and tried to act normal. She was quickly taken to Neopia.
"All right!" She ran off, earning glares and
people rolling their eyes. She ran as fast as she could, to tired to fly.
"Where do you think you're going, Shoyru?" someone
said. She looked over her shoulder, noticing she was being held onto. Some little
freak of a Lupe.
"Get off," Syd snapped. She earned a shove into
the mud. "YOU LITTLE..." She remembered her home, and ran, getting names shouted
at her. She ran down her street, and leaped onto the porch. She knocked rapidly,
the face of Snow peering out.
"SYD!" Snow screamed happily. The twins ran over,
and before she could say anything she was inside, with Freya and her siblings.
Syd started sobbing.
"I'M SORRY! I SHOULDN'T HAVE RUN AWAY! I'M A
DORK! YOU ARE THE BEST FAMILY I EVER HAD!"
"You're not a dork, Syd," said Freya.
"You just messed up," Vicki and Eyore said together.
Snow nodded.
"I need sleep. See you." She ran up to her room,
and wrote everything down in her diary,
then noticed her window glow, and Glow appeared.
"Glow! You came!" she whispered, feeling like
running over and screaming that she's sorry.
"We're friends, right?"
"Yeah, friends. And Freya, Vi, Eyore and Snow
are my family," she agreed. And she meant it. They were friends.
"I'm going to sleep," Syd announced. Glow disappeared,
and Syd turned out the lights, happy to be home.
