Fuzzy Math on NeoPets by thecapedcaper | |
NeoPets is notorious for their special type of "Fuzzy Math."
First off, we got the population percentages. The listings for the Krawk and
the Tonu, although new pets that combined have a population of barely 2000,
each of their percentages are 0.00%. Now, doing more accurate calculating, I
find that as of February 25, 2002, at 5:06 NST, the Tonu has a composite percentage
of 0.00004608423909% with 1910 pets, while the Krawk has a massive 0.000009265103566%
with 384 made. Now, I know it's not the fault of the Neopians that eggs with
Tonu fall only so often, and that making Krawks is expensive and time-consuming,
but give them a break, NeoPets! It's bad enough that you slap the Wooden Spoon
Award to the Krawk but give it 0.00%!
Looking further into the percentage table, adding up all the percentages proves
that it's a total of 102.72%. Now, in order for a population of 41,445,840 pets
to have 102.72%, it'd have to have 42,573,166.85 NeoPets. Don't ask me where
that .85 of a pet comes from, but it's obvious that NeoPets should check their
math before posting it. Plus, they never did announce they had 41 million pets.
Also, the lottery. The 114 winners, yes, I took the time to count, of the
lottery on February 25 split the prize of a spectacular 1,361,300 NP (think
of what you can do with even a 1/114 of that!). They got a prize of 11,344 NP,
plus 5000 NP equaling 16344 NP, which isn't too bad. However, doing the math
once more, I find that they've been gypped. Sadly, 1,361,300 NP doesn't become
11,344 NP after you divide it by 114 winners. It becomes 11,941.22 NP, but rounding
it becomes 11,941 NP. That deficit of 597 NP, multiplying it by 114, adds up
to 68,084 NP! Where is this cash going? Perhaps the evil Dr. Sloth or Jhudora
the Dark Faerie have something to do with all this? We may never know, but perhaps
that guy that does conspiracies will dig deeper into this.
But I'm quite certain that the buck, or the NP in this case, won't stop there.
Speaking of Jhudora, I've completed 6 of her quests without failure, yet I've
yet to see any prizes worth my time. I think the best I've done was a Poisonous
Lollipop worth 50 NP, but I think that maybe doing 20-30 quests may start to
reimburse me of my wasted NP.
As well as shops, I find it weird how 1/3 Pepper and Tomato Omelette outsells
a whole one. Maybe this comes into theory that if you bought a full one at about
1000 NP, eat 2/3 of it, and sell it again at almost 10 times its worth could
create an empire? I have tried this and I couldn't even sell it for twice its
worth on the market. Perhaps other people have had luck with this?
But this barely scratches the surface. The creators, characters, and players
of Neopia have their shares into this "Fuzzy Math" that could be causing either
the recession, the sudden 2% drop of interest at the bank, as well as the crash
of at least 5 companies in the Stock Market. It is because of this that we must
all keep track of our math and make sure that it doesn't cause confusion. That
and a quick game of Krawps
could get you rich.
Make sure all you readers keep this in mind when you look around NeoPets and
find something that may seem unreal. I wish you all luck and hope that the Neopian
Economy goes up. |
