The Unlucky Lenny by e_n_d_e_r | |
Now what I am about to tell you may seem outrageous, how could one little Lenny
have so much bad luck, you ask? Well, the Lenny in our story had come upon a
genuine streak of bad luck.
Our story starts out one day at the create-a-pet area of Neopia. An owner
went to this place and created a cute little green Lenny, and named him Spots_abc.
This owner rolled Spot's stats, all possible 5 times, and Spots ended up with
'weak' strength and 'below average' defence, this was made up with 'fast' movement,
but the owner was not satisfied. So this owner took him straight to the pound,
and set off to get a pet with better starting stats. So our little baby Lenny,
no more than 20 minutes old, was left abandoned in the pound, and so his bad
luck streak began.
Our Lenny spent several days at the pound. He was cheerful, very cheerful
for a pet in his situation. He made a few friends, though he knew chances of
ever seeing them again was slim. He watched many a pet come and go, some within
minutes. He sometimes wish he were a Shoyru or a Gelert, none of them seemed
to stay in the pound long.
When our Lenny was a full four days old, a kind-hearted owner, a little girl
called Lamb adopted him. Lamb was a very kind owner with only the best intentions,
but she was very poor. She had no NeoHome, and Omelette was the only available
meal, still Spots felt loved. Life was tough, but they survived, working hard
every minute. After several weeks, life hadn't improved.
Lamb loved him very much, but she felt she couldn't support him. She decided
to put him up for adoption. Spots pleaded for her not to let him go.
Lamb reasoned, "You aren't getting fully fed here." This was true, he was hungry.
"And you have no toys, no luxuries... I want you to have a better life."
No matter how Spots pleaded, Lamb had made up her mind, so to the adoption
centre they went. They both cried at the departing, but it happened nonetheless.
So our Lenny was back in the pound.
Again, he spent a while in the pound. It wasn't so bad, but he missed Lamb
very much. Again, he watched the other pets come and go. He was happy for the
pets who got nice new owners, but he was jealous as well.
None of the owners gave him a second look, until, one day, a obviously rich
Neopian came to the pound. He was followed by his Desert Aisha, Halloween Koi
and a beautiful Faerie Shoyru, which most people didn't even know existed. He
looked around, and to everyone's surprise, especially the unlucky Lenny's, this
owner adopted him. Spots_abc's bad luck may just have been wearing off.
Spots was very happy, and his new owner was as well. He took Spots home, to
his huge Neomansion, where Spots had his own huge room filled with toys, books
and comfortable furniture. Spots was so very happy and, to top it off, the next
day his owner took him and the rest of his pets shopping. He watched the other
pets get all sorts of stuff: books, Dubloons, Plushies, weapons--whatever their
hearts desired. For Spots, his owner bought a few Codestones, some books, a
Halloween Puppyblew and a striped paint brush! On the way home, they stopped
at the Rainbow Pool and painted Spots striped!
Spots was very happy with his new home at first, gourmet
foods, rare Plushies, anything he wanted, but our unlucky Lenny was
about to learn a very valuable lesson--money cannot buy happiness.
This owner was very infatuated with money, it was money this money that, he
always seemed to want more. The Lenny began to be very lonely, his only company
being his Puppyblew. He was spending long days at the training school, not that
he didn't want to raise his stats, but the training school was hard work, and
it seemed he rarely got a break. He also found himself and his siblings spending
far to much time in the Neolodge so that their owner could focus on making money.
He almost missed being with Lamb, at least she loved him.
Just when Spots thought he couldn't take it anymore…
It was one of the rare nights when the pets were staying in their home. Spots
came down for breakfast and his owner was waiting for him. Spots found this
unusual, since the shopping trip he had hardly seen his owner, let alone spent
time alone with him. His owner asked him to step outside.
"Sit down," the owner said.
Spots sat down.
"I have something important to tell you," he said. "I am sorry Spots, but
I have made the decision to put you up for adoption. I am sorry, I am so sorry."
The Lenny was hurt. "Why?" was all he could say.
"Do you REALLY want to know?"
Spots gave his owner a look, a look that clearly said, tell me, tell me the
truth now.
His owner began to talk slowly. "You have heard of the new pet, the Krawk,
right? Well, I have decided to get one of those. If I have a Krawk, I have an
easy ticket into many elite and sophisticated guilds. I have to get rid of one
of my pets though, as I am only allowed four. I have decided on you because
you are the newest of my pets. I am truly sorry."
These words stung Spots, hard. How could he? Though the look upon his owner's
face looked genuinely sorry, Spots didn't believe it, how could any one do that
to their pet, and actually feel sorry about it? So they left for the pound,
there was no need for a good-bye, as he had made no real friends, and he got
to take his Puppyblew, his only real friend, with him. This departure was a
cold one, Spots shed no tears for this owner, his owner shed none for him. So
he was back in the pound.
This time he didn't spend much time in the pound, because he was still painted
striped, he was snatched up quickly. This time by a hard-core Battledomer. He
was a battler with two other pets, with high stats, but none of them were painted.
The Lenny started out not liking this guy because the first he did was to sell
Spots beloved Halloween Puppyblew. Spots was outraged, but the owner, Sport,
said that PetPets were useless, and he spent the money on Codestones and made
Spots train more.
Boy, he thought training with his last owner was hard, but he thought Sport
was an OK person, putting his Battledome obsession aside. The Lenny thought
that he would be happy here.
One day his owner said he had a surprise, he took Spots to the a huge ray,
the Lab Ray! Spots was scared. He didn't want to; he pleaded no, but Sport did
it anyway. He said he hadn't spent 100,000 NP on the map for nothing. Zap!
The lab ray hit Spots and he almost cried out in fear and pain. It had turned
him into a Blue Kacheek. He was not to happy with the change, he liked being
a Lenny but even worse, his owner was not happy.
Spots thought he was nice person, but his luck prevailed and Sport took him
straight to the pound. Sport didn't want him, he was no longer painted, and
no longer a Lenny. He was heartlessly abandoned, yet again.
Now, as a Blue Kacheek, he was seeing the pound from a new perspective. Not
from the perspective of a Unlucky Lenny, but as a Kacheek. He was a at level
7 by now, with all the training he had done with his past owners. This made
him a desirable pet but an expensive pet. He was overlooked by many of the poor
Neopians looking for pets. He was also a male Kacheek, which some thought weird.
He spent one full afternoon at the pound before Chilli showed up.
Chilli was a very respectable looking owner and Spots liked her right away.
She looked at him and gasped, "Perfect!" She then ran out of the adoption centre,
and less than 15 minutes later she came back and adopted him. She was out of
breath from running. Spots gave her a questioning look, he wondered why she
was out of breath and where she had been.
"I had to go to the bank to get the money to buy you and I ran the whole way
not wanting you to be gone when I got back."
Spots smiled; he somehow knew that his bad luck was over, and this made sense,
for he was no longer a Lenny, therefore he could no longer be "The Unlucky
Lenny".
He was right. This owner was perfect, not too rich, not too poor. She had
one other pet, a Halloween Kougra, who was a great playmate. After much discussion
and many weeks of saving, his owner bought him all he could ever dream of. She
transformed him into an Eyrie and painted him Fire! And she bought him another
Halloween Puppyblew and she truly loved him. He had found true happiness.
So our Unlucky Blue Lenny ended up a Quite Lucky Fire Eyrie. This story has
a happy ending after all... did you really think he would stay unlucky forever?
